Ive not updated my empties for a while! I wont have any skincare empties for a while. What i thought was eczema on my face, it isnt. So blood tests amd a possible referral to a derm to see whats going on!

I still have a big stash elsewhere, so will be concentrating on them for now!

  • Bramley lemon & rosemary shampoo. You needed alot to get a good lather, it was refreshing to have a shampoo that didnt smell artifical smell though!
  • Lee Stafford hair growth mask. My hair needs cut, not too growGrin But it was a nice mask, not the best ive used, but not the worst. I dont think a hair mask has the ability to make hair grow either!
MidnightMeltdown · 22/10/2021 11:02

@Caggie09

I found the same with the Bramley shampoo. I have thick hair and had to use practically half the bottle for one wash!

I'm amazed that Lee Stafford are allowed to make that claim!

Experiment627 · 22/10/2021 13:47

@Caggie09 really hope specialist can get to the bottom of what is going on!

So my Boots haul is finally here! Not a patch on the one I am waiting for from Superdrug but thought I would share nonetheless!

@Experiment627 will be intrigued to know how you get on with the boots glow stuff. It's been a while since I bought anything from there.

I finally have my second 4 empties for this month:

  1. Phillip Kingsley weightless shampoo - I'm not normally too fussed about which shampoo I use, but quite liked this one. Think I have another on the stash

6) Lush no drought dry shampoo - this, as far as I can tell, isn't much different to using talc. It's quite effective, but it's white, and I have dark hair, so worry about it not being rubbed in properly. It's lasted years so much more cost effective and environmentally friendly than spray cans. Probably better for blondes.

  1. Anew Dual Dark Circle Corrector - I was given this and quite liked it. Felt that it was effective on my dark circles

8) Pixi Overnight Glow Serum - I've had this years and didn't really like it. It's got a horrible thick gloopy sticky texture and I just didn't enjoy putting it on my face. There's still a tiny amount left in the bottom, but I've had enough, it's time to go!

@MidnightMeltdownI just used the serum which felt nice on... but we shall see! I have almost the rest of the range - I have been using for a few weeks - these additions are just to make sure my review is thorough!!

I have an empty:

  • Superdrug Vitamin E leave-on moisture mask: I love this and it is HG, on a par with the almond mask from The Body Shop (and way cheaper). I will RP but am just anticipating the advents, also have some sachets to use up, so will hold off for now.

Nice haul, @Experiment627
Have you used the collagen moisturiser before? It is effective? I took collagen supplements for a while a few years ago trying to heal an injury. I didn't pay any attention to whether it improved my skin. But now the situation is more desperate!

JunieSpoony · 22/10/2021 15:47

@MidnightMeltdown I recently made my blondish DD dry shampoo from cornstarch plus a little cocoa powder. I was impressed by how well it worked.

Experiment627 · 22/10/2021 16:04

@JunieSpoony I have not used the collagen range yet - I likely will not get to this range for a few months (I have a bit of a backlog!). I have been trying to take supplements - more for some hip pain... TBH I am not consistent with it though so have no idea if it has been helping!

@JunieSpoony

I used to just use talcum powder before dry shampoo became a thing. It works just as well as most dry shampoos. Only problem for me is the colour and making sure that it's all rubbed in. If my hair was a lighter colour I would probably just use talc!

Just looked at the ingredients on the lush bottle and one of the main ones is cornflour!

JunieSpoony · 22/10/2021 19:10

Haha, that makes sense @MidnightMeltdown.

I do love how a thread about using up our stashes also involves quite a bit of purchasing! And on that note - my cult beauty advent calendar arrived today.

MidnightMeltdown · 22/10/2021 22:23

@ have to admit that I've indulged in a few beauty calendars and boxes this year Blush

However, I always buy a lot this time of year, and I find that this pretty much removes my itch to buy throughout the rest of the year. I will be on a beauty 'no buy' for 8 months from the beginning of Nov until August 2022 while I work through the stash!

Also going to set myself a goal to use up 120 products during 2022.

I tried the cream eyeshadow from MAC, just in a few spare minutes after the kids went to bed, and I love it! Beautiful deep blues and greens, will look great with some sparkly gold over the top. Anyone know if you can mix cream (bottom layer) and powder (top layer)? Or will the powder just stick and clump? Obviously I can just try it out myself, may have had Gin

Justilou1 · 23/10/2021 08:34

@JunieSpoony You absolutely can use powder over cream eyeshadow and what’s more it will help with the longevity of the creams. (They have form for creasing and smearing unless set with powders.) I think the Bad Girl palette sounds like a re-release of one I used on stage in the 90’s. Looks great with golds, silvers and charcoals or even sparkly purples. It did schmear into the lid creases, but those were the grunge days, so that was a look too. Do you use a Mac Paint Pot or Elf Putty Eye Primer underneath it? Maybe even a concealer set with a powder to add extra grip? That might also help it stay put too.

Justilou1 · 23/10/2021 08:38

@JunieSpoony and @MidnightMeltdown - I have blonde hair and have tried many DIY dry shampoo recipes too. The cornstarch ones definitely my faves. Quite like to add a tiny bit of bicarb soda to the mixture as well to help balance the scalp’s PH as sebum is a little acidic. I keep thinking of Versailles and heavily powdered wigs now…

MAISON MATINE
Bain de Midi Eau de Parfum

I really loved this! It really lingers in a gorgeous way. Definitely on the RP list!

@Justilou1 excuse me! On stage??? Are you a pop star? 🤩🤩🤩🤩

JunieSpoony · 23/10/2021 15:13

Thanks @Justilou1 lots of useful info. I think a primer is my next buy. I don't remember all this newfangled stuff last time I wore make up regularly (Before Children) Grin

@Experiment627 I read it as "one stage" but "on stage" is way cooler! You mentioned you would use some of your recent hauls in videos--are you on Instagram? Are we allowed to know? (Sorry if this has already been asked upthread.)

Triple points day at the drugstore here. Dangerous! I have no car this weekend so am bribing DS5 to walk 2km each way with me. Handily McDonald's is more or less next door... (he might also limit my purchasing).

JunieSpoony · 23/10/2021 15:14

I want to buy DH a new aftershave (do we still call it that?) for Christmas. He used to wear CK One. Anyone know any similar-ish scents for men?

@supadupapupascupa (love the name!). What sort of scent was the Bain de midi?

JunieSpoony · 23/10/2021 15:16

Slattern, nearly missed your announcement. So jealous of the advent calendar! Enjoy Smile

Experiment627 · 23/10/2021 15:20

@JunieSpoony ah yes it is probably "one stage"... I thought we had a singer in our midsts!
