Thou shalt not covet …this Wyse cardigan

Please help me find an alternative to this cardigan

www.wyselondon.co.uk/products/romy-multi-shade-cardigan-multi

I want it SO much but that price is just eye wateringly expensive Shock

I’ve searched high and low (online!) for a chunky colourful cardigan (or anything that’s just not black/navy or cream/oatmeal will do) and can’t find anything similar.

I’m after THE ultimate snuggly cardigan to take me into autumn pre coat season and for cuddling up in front of the fire.

Any help would be gratefully received Wine

Gosh!

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 04/09/2021 19:42

Knit one? Or ask the knitter in your life to do so. It’s a very hand-knit style.

RuthTopp · 04/09/2021 19:42

If you know someone that can crochet , they could do that for you at a fraction of that price !

LazyDoll · 04/09/2021 19:45

Eeek I know no knitters or crocheters…may need to widen my circle of friends Grin

Believe it or not, Asda have a couple of colourful cardigans in at the moment. This one is lovely but might be a bit too cropped

If you can afford it just buy it, or at least order it and see if it seems worth the cost. Time is money, how much time have you wasted looking for a cheaper alternative? Treat yourself. Cost per wear it’ll work out cheap enough in the end. Grin

StiffyByng · 04/09/2021 19:53

Different colours and style but definitely colourful and snuggly.

It’s a bit home-spun looking.

Beat me to it. Wouldn't take a lot of knitting. And you could pick your own colours!
LazyDoll · 04/09/2021 19:55

Thewillbefood just not snuggly enough but thank you 😊 and you remind fed me to check out Tu which often has some hidden gems. Not this time though.

TooWicked no sadly I can’t afford/justify buying it for myself. I have spotted this alternative though …

The Zara one is nicer and is alpaca blend the expensive one looks like a hand knit

@LazyDoll
Can you not find a knitter on FB that charges for their time

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/09/2021 19:58

If you have a wool shop nearby, they often have knitters who knit stuff for them. Worth an ask?

TabithaTiger · 04/09/2021 19:59

Have you looked on Etsy? There's some similar ones on there.

SerenaJoy · 04/09/2021 19:59

I saw something similar in Primark (obviously not as nice!) with pastel colours. I too covet almost everything on the Wyse website but it’s just tooo expensive.

LazyDoll · 04/09/2021 20:00

I’m not on FB but I DO have a local wool shop! Great idea I’ll pop in next week and have a chat!

Holy Mary Mother of God, my eyes are burning from that Zara link.

I do like the Hush one though.

I can knit, wouldn't take long to knock something like that up. Anyone got any good patterns?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/09/2021 20:01

If they don't have a pattern for it, I suspect there'll be one for free on Ravelry.

I thought it was just me. Is that meant to help sell it??
WithRosesAroundTheDoor · 04/09/2021 20:02

I was going to suggest Asda too. I'm sure that they had another bright one that was chunkier but I can't find it online.

Colinthedog · 04/09/2021 20:03

I prefer the Hush one!

LazyDoll · 04/09/2021 20:05

I’m afraid the Zara one doesn’t do it for me either. It’s a bit Magic Eyey….Confused

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 04/09/2021 20:06

Just go on Ravelry and look for cardi patterns.

LazyDoll · 04/09/2021 20:06

I have the neon pink Hush summer cardie (wardrobe 80% Hush) so that’s a firm second choice at the mo.

Found patterns!

www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/enkel-stripejakke-knitting-pattern-by-knit-by-siv-siv-kristin

And

www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/enkel-stripejakke-raglan-knitting-pattern-by-siv-kristin-olsen

Would take no time at all to knit, and you can pick your own colours. A haberdashery would be able to find you a suitable alternative wool yarn if you didn't want to use what is suggested.
