Leopard print: yes or no?

MareofBeasttown · 23/08/2021 12:34

I like it when I see it on other people, but on me it always looks tacky and a tad cheap ( Also DH starts meowing when I come into the room). But it is so popular these days that I can't get away from it.

I am 49, 5"7 and a size 10-12 if that helps. I am wary of sounding ageist but it does seem to look better on DD, 20, and a size 4-6.

OP, please ignore anything patronising 30 year olds say about ‘older ladies’ 🙄

As Caitlin Moran says, leopard print is a neutral. Go for it.

Diva66 · 24/08/2021 18:49

Hate it.

SeanMean · 24/08/2021 18:54

Absolutely love it, a style classic 😍

anon666 · 24/08/2021 18:54

This is why I have never and probably will never wear it......

I actually don't judge or hate it on other people, it's totally a personal taboo.

Maybe I'll revisit that prejudice now after reading this thread.

But I have massive norks, maybe I'm scared of being a Dolly Parton/Bet Lynch/ Babs Windsor/Pat Butcher lookalike. 😳

Now I'm thinking "and why not......."

Fluffmum · 24/08/2021 19:07

I love it

Rainallnight · 24/08/2021 19:10

@anon666 Grace Dent has big norks and wears it.

Floisme · 24/08/2021 19:12

Be more Mrs Robinson.

It's not tacky in the slightest

If you are blonde and/or big busted no. I agree, Bet Lynch (barmaid or Doreane in Birds of a Feather). Shoes, belt, bag good. Boden always do something nice. Coat OK if you are slim and elegant. Otherwise Ertha Kit darling! And a note to the wise, my husband laughs at leather too. Tailor's son so he knows pukka.

ItsSunnyOutside · 24/08/2021 19:29

I think leopard print looks fab. I prefer it in small amounts personally, just flashes of it. I usually team it with something simple or a block colour.

I have a big leopard print scarf which I wear in winter. The rest of my outfit is usually plain/ simple but the leopard print scarf finishes it off. I also have some leopard print ankle boots and trainers.
I have a leopard print pencil skirt which I like to wear with a plain white tee tucked in.

I used to hate it. Since turning 40 I can’t get enough! Go for it.

Blossomtoes · 24/08/2021 19:37

Nothing wrong with Eartha Kitt - sexiest voice in the world.

Thekormachameleon · 24/08/2021 19:45

@yellowglass I neeeed those dungarees, where are they from please

TheBullfinch · 24/08/2021 19:51

Im not a fan generally but I think @AnnieSnap
looks amazing - I much prefer the light leopard prints to the darker ones.

I have a belt in that print and that's it - any more and I look like Bet Lynch.

AnnieSnap · 24/08/2021 19:57

@TheBullfinch Thank you, nice of you to say 🙂

MareofBeasttown · 24/08/2021 20:15

Very much like that Hush dress, @AnnieSnap. I have no waist any more either. I think quality fabrics matter a lot with animal prints.

I think it can look very glamorous

I have one, not what it was, but I do have one!
sammylady37 · 24/08/2021 20:40

Oh god, I hate it. Have never worn it and never will. All I think when I see it is of Bet Lynch.

ShrikeAttack · 24/08/2021 20:55

Not for me, but it looks great on others. As with all things sartorial, it's very much not what you wear, but how you wear it!

LipstickLou · 24/08/2021 21:02

@blossomtoes
Ertha Kitt, have you watched Boomerang? It will put you off your supper! I like a bit of Boden or Dolce baby! Nice thread though without the harpies.

CornishPastyDownUnder · 24/08/2021 21:08
