Leopard print: yes or no?

MareofBeasttown · 23/08/2021 12:34

I like it when I see it on other people, but on me it always looks tacky and a tad cheap ( Also DH starts meowing when I come into the room). But it is so popular these days that I can't get away from it.

I am 49, 5"7 and a size 10-12 if that helps. I am wary of sounding ageist but it does seem to look better on DD, 20, and a size 4-6.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

It's this coat, btw: www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/biba/biba-leopard-faux-fur-coat-ladies-668123

OP, hope you don't mind me piggybacking onto to your thread, but I'd love to gather some opinions on it - I'm still quite tempted!

I've just ordered one from that link, and I already have a Biba fake leopard fur coat (but a different one)! At that price it would be mad to not try it.
LubaLuca · 23/08/2021 18:34

I love leopard print. I think it's a small act of rebellion against my mum who has always said it's 'tarty' (she also says this about patent leather(!), so again I'm very drawn to that Grin).

I've always maintained it's a neutral from nature, and what could be classier than that?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/08/2021 18:42

Aargh. To coat or not to coat, that is the question!

Highlights12 · 23/08/2021 18:52

I like it. The meowing made me laugh sounds like something my husband would do.

yellowglass · 23/08/2021 18:53

These are Currently my favourite item of clothing ,

I give no shits and can't say I've noticed anyone say anything (apart from my ex dh who couldn't be nice if he tried )

I love leopard print , but then I'm the wrong side of 40 and have long given up caring as long as I'm happy and comfy

I'm 46 and today I'm wearing one of my favourite pairs of trousers, leopard print loose harem trousers, about a tenner from amazon.

Ninkanink · 23/08/2021 18:55

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I like it!

I still mourn my perfect leopard print coat that I got rid of because it was unlikely I’d ever fit into it again. Sigh.

ladygindiva · 23/08/2021 18:55

Yellow glass I love those dungarees, link pls xxxx

yellowglass · 23/08/2021 18:59

@ladygindiva

I can't do links but they are Run and Fly , I've had mine a while now but they are still available direct from the Run and Fly website, about £50 ish but at the rate I wear them they owe me nothing and wash beautifully.

Enjoy

ladygindiva · 23/08/2021 18:59

Thank you x

Do it, get the leopard print! I bought a gorgeous faux fur leopard print coat from Zara last year and I absolutely love it. I tried to talk myself out of buying it "because I'm not the type that wears leopard print" but I loved it so much I had to get it. No regrets. I've also got some white Nike trainers with the Nike tick in leopard print too - they look great with a pair of jeans and white tee. My husband isn't a fan of my coat but I think it's a woman thing to love the print - I dress for myself anyway, not for my DH.

AvantGardening · 23/08/2021 19:18

Another enthusiastically saying yes to the coat

Cocolapew · 23/08/2021 19:22

I bloody love it, I can't wait until it's cold enough to wear one of my coats
I saw a nice dark grey leopard print coat in Asda the other day, though I do prefer the proper colour print.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/08/2021 19:23

I’m in my 40s so probably classed as an “older lady”, and I look fucking great in leopard print. Can’t wait to bring out my “tasteless” and “tacky” faux fur.

I knew this thread would pop up soon.

Me too (48 and the owner of 3 leopard coats including the above one if it fits, 3 dresses, a mini skirt, capri pants, tights, moonboots, pointy ballet flats and God alone knows how many hairclips and such) 🥳
SocksAndTheCity · 23/08/2021 19:32

@Cocolapew I think that's a very good price for that coat - I bought this suede All Saints one www.thread.com/gb/item/allsaints-leo-suede-mac-brown/18490394 which is pretty similar and it cost a bloody arm and a leg even in the sale.

I love it, but I can't even wear it atm because it always looks like it's going to pour at some indeterminate point in the next half hour and I daren't risk ruining it Confused

Ffs I now have one in my basket too Blush
Staryflight445 · 23/08/2021 20:02

It’s pattern dependent definitely. Some leopard print looks lovely, other items can look really cheap and tacky. I do love a good leopard print item of clothing though.

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/08/2021 20:05

I hate it. Doesn't matter how popular it is I won't bee buying it. Live and let live though.

Crazysheep · 23/08/2021 20:07

I wore leopard print shorts today and DH said I looked like Prince Naseem of that helps OP.

GolfForBrains · 23/08/2021 20:08

I love that Biba coat and v tempted as well!

ZenNudist · 23/08/2021 20:13

I like it. I like floaty leopard print trousers for summer with a black top.

Mumblechum0 · 23/08/2021 20:16

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

I'm usually not a fan of animal prints but I love that one in your link so much I just ordered it :-) Hope there's still one left for you!
