Leopard print: yes or no?

MareofBeasttown · 23/08/2021 12:34

I like it when I see it on other people, but on me it always looks tacky and a tad cheap ( Also DH starts meowing when I come into the room). But it is so popular these days that I can't get away from it.

I am 49, 5"7 and a size 10-12 if that helps. I am wary of sounding ageist but it does seem to look better on DD, 20, and a size 4-6.

It can look good on some people, I'm really not a fan of any animal prints though.

MsDastardley · 23/08/2021 20:27

I love it,. I’m definitely on the older side and I think it’s fun. I’ve had the Hush Hattie dress this year and also the Teva midform sandals. I’d don’t wear them together though. I think they look great. I bought the most gorgeous leopard print long cashmere scarf in TK Maxx a couple of years ago, it’s black and grey.

DramaAlpaca · 23/08/2021 20:29

I don't do animal prints at all.

starmoonsun · 23/08/2021 20:53

I think if you can do all over print if its one item like a dress.or coat. But separates look like trying too hard/ bit naff in my view.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/08/2021 20:59

No offence but I hate it. Always have but no idea why. I'm 47

Mommybunny · 23/08/2021 21:03

I’m not usually into leopard print myself but a couple of weeks ago I clicked on the Times fashion pages and saw a blouse I just couldn’t get out of my head.

pin.it/2aBCFR7 (Hoping the link pastes!)

That day I found it online and it was in the sale and they had my size. The next day it was gone! A man I know found it on Flannels and ordered it for me. Reader, I married him!

I wore it the other night to a swank dinner in London and felt a million bucks.

Oooh, everyone's buying the coat! This should make the decision easier, but it doesn't!! I just DON'T KNOW!!!

WinterCarlisle · 23/08/2021 21:09

Leopard print is absolutely a neutral. I have a great deal in my wardrobe. DH fancies himself a huge comedian and always says I look like a wannabe Bet Lynch which I take as massive compliment. She rocked.

That Asda coat is fab. May have to take a little look……….

Go on @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal! You can always return it. And if you don’t try it you’ll never know...
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/08/2021 21:13

It's pay day soon. I've decided if there's any left in my size, then it's meant to be, and if it's not, then it wasn't.

I am zen. 🧘

Love the coat, go for it OP. The Asda one is also lovely.

I'm a big fan of leopard but since I've become the owner of two cats (one tabby) I'm not as confident wearing it as I think I might look like a mad cat lady!

FreshFaceTime · 23/08/2021 21:35

Love it! Normally go for a smaller accessory like a scarf, belt, sandals, etc but have been contemplating a nice autumn/wintery leopard print skirt this year. Haven't started looking yet...

nevernotstruggling · 23/08/2021 21:52

Love it. I think it looks amazing with black and other dark colours.

Posters saying it's tasteless - ha as if.

Craftycorvid · 23/08/2021 23:49

Joins @daisyjgrey on that hill.... Bet Lynch is a fashion icon.

MrsJackWhicher · 24/08/2021 04:38

I love your DH Grin

MrsJackWhicher · 24/08/2021 04:39

I have leopard skin stilettos-for sone reason they are very much appreciated Grin

FindingMeno · 24/08/2021 04:56

I love it, but I'm cautious of jersey-type materials as the colour seems to grey/ fade very quickly, and then it's not a good look.

Hm2020 · 24/08/2021 05:13

Love it Always have I have leopard converse which I love I love anything leopard with all black

Mumblechum0 · 24/08/2021 09:31

The coat has just arrived.
It’s going back.
Disappointingly lightweight, nylony texture, and shapeless.
Never mind

VeryLongBeeeeep · 24/08/2021 09:58

I have a leopard print skirt that I usually wear with a cream silk shirt, opaque tights and flats. It's probably the outfit I get most compliments in. I'm size 12-14, fairly tall and definitely old enough to be Bet Lynch but without the brassy hair!

LadyDanburysHat · 24/08/2021 10:01

I can't get away with leopard print clothing. Find it too much on me. But I have shoes, ankle boots, and a scarf.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/08/2021 10:12

Good to know, thanks for taking that hit for me @Mumblechum0 - but sorry it was a disappointment.

Bertiebiscuit · 24/08/2021 18:27

I love leopard print - But it has to be good - I have a silk blend lined leopard print pencil skirt that I wear and wear and often get remarks from other women about how nice it looks - would have been very expensive but I got it 2nd hand - good fabric is always the key

AnnieSnap · 24/08/2021 18:39

Totally! It’s fabulous, so long as it’s not in a cheap and nasty fabric! This is a hush dress I have. Sadly, this shot of me shows no waist, so not really flattering!
