Could it be the Aldi skincare?!

I'm 39 and feel like my face has aged so much in the last year... After a brief spell of looking OK last spring/summer (which I put down to upping my game with my skin routine, thanks to some lovely products in the M&S summer beauty bag), it all went to shit last autumn when these monstrous bags appeared under my eyes which just wouldn't go away. I got worried that I'd somehow ruined my face with too much REN glow tonic or something. I tried drinking more water (and less wine, thanks to dry January), sleeping more etc but nothing seemed to work. I honestly looked like I'd aged 10 years.

Anyway, when my posher skin stuff ran out I went back to good old Nivea and it looked even worse. So, the other day, I bought some of the Aldi Lacura Q10 serum and rejuvelate day cream and, I swear, the bags have shrunk back to early 2020 size and my skin has got this lovely glow. This happened the day after I used the products for the first time...!

I don't know what else it could have been - I've got a really stressful week happening, I've got a cold, I'm not sleeping well, dry January DEFINITELY finished for me on Jan 30th etc... Could it really have been the creams that have had this effect, this quickly?

On the strength of this thread I went into Aldi today and got the Rejuvelate day and night cream along with the Q10 serum. I'm struggling at the moment because everything I'm using, even tried and trusted favourites, is making my face itch. I'm hoping that this helps.

JMAngel1 · 14/03/2021 20:17

@FreshFaceTime
First impressions really good - face feels much more moisturised than after Superdrug one and it's more pleasant to use as well.
Let's hope I don't break out!

FreshFaceTime · 14/03/2021 20:30

It smells lovely. I know some people aren't keen on fragranced skincare but I like it.

NeedWineNow · 14/03/2021 21:01

Reporting in. I've used the serum and the night cream. I'm feeling a prickly at the moment but I'll see how I go over the next couple of days.

FreshFaceTime · 14/03/2021 21:09

Is your skin normally on the sensitive side @NeedWineNow ?

Frazzled2207 · 14/03/2021 21:13

This is exciting I had heard good reviews and looked at it in aldi the other day and came to the conclusion that it could not possibly work at 2.99!!

musicalfrog · 14/03/2021 21:45

Do Aldi have any decent cleansers?

mynameiscalypso · 14/03/2021 21:50

@FreshFaceTime

For anyone contemplating various Aldi skincare products, I didn't get on with the caviar night cream - liked the smell and it was nice to apply but I found it too rich - so I tried the Q10 night cream instead and loved it.
I was just coming on this thread to ask this very question - I was mulling the normal one vs the caviar and went for the former. Sounds like I made the right choice.
FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 07:57

@mynameiscalypso I think it will totally depend on your skin type. If you're on the dry side (and possibly more mature?) I'm sure the caviar would be fabulous. My skin is more dehydrated than dry and with the caviar cream it felt tacky the next morning. With the Q10 one my face felt lovely and soft which is exactly how I want it to feel with a good night cream. Have you just started the Q10 then? How are you finding it?

FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 08:02

@musicalfrog there's a set in store at the moment with a rose hot cloth cleanser, rose toner and rose oil. Haven't tried it but everyone raves about the rose oil so might be worth a try?

I've just started using the marine hot cloth cleanser and am pleased with it so far. Have added one of their original hot cloth cleansers to an online order too. Actually I also saw a set of 4x hot cloth cleaners in store if you wanted to try them all out? Not sure how long that will be around as it was definitely in the middle aisle of joy when I saw it!

Haven't tried any of their other cleansers so can't comment on others.

mynameiscalypso · 15/03/2021 08:09

@FreshFaceTime That sounds quite similar to my skin - definitely dehydrated rather than dry with a tendency to shininess during the course of the day too. I'm late 30s so again, sounds like the right one for me. Only been using the Aldi stuff for a week or two as I was coming to the conclusion that my previous regime wasn't really working anymore!

FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 08:14

@mynameiscalypso yes I'm late 30s too - I also recently realised I needed to up my skincare game. I'm enjoying trying out new stuff!

musicalfrog · 15/03/2021 08:15

Thanks @FreshFaceTime good to know, I will check them out next time I'm there.

NeedWineNow · 15/03/2021 09:11

@FreshFaceTime it is occasionally. I think it's more dehydration than anything. My cheeks in particular get quite sore. I woke up this morning and my face face soft and it doesn't appear to have broken me out. I was getting on ok with Avon Anew Platinum but I wanted products where I didn't have to rely on ordering online.

FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 09:31

@NeedWineNow sounds promising. Asda also have a Q10 cream called Radiance which I've used before and liked but I don't shop there often enough to use it all the time. If you have one nearby you could try that? They have a vitamin c range too.

doadeer · 15/03/2021 09:39

Don't forget suncream!

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/03/2021 10:40

I hold you all completely responsible for this 🤭

Could it be the Aldi skincare?!
FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 12:05

Haha amazing haul!

musicalfrog · 15/03/2021 12:14

GrinGrinGrin that's brilliant @justanotherneighinparadise

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/03/2021 13:16

I was just merrily wandering about tipping skincare and perfume into my trolley. About three food items and the rest as above. It was wonderful!

FreshFaceTime · 15/03/2021 13:23

After replying to the poster above about the skincare sets I've sold them to myself and I'm totally getting a few more bits for my Aldi skincare stash next time I need to go in for milk!

JMAngel1 · 15/03/2021 14:43

Wow that is quite the haul!!
I never saw perfume??! Stropping off now Grin

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/03/2021 14:48

Oh rhe perfume is honestly fabulous. I’ve bought most of them previously so I can recommend. The Jo Malone dupe is one I haven’t tried though and the floral one is also lovely.

FreshFaceTime · 18/03/2021 14:45

Thought I'd report in for anyone who's interested... I got my Lacura Moisture Boost (Clinique Moisture Surge dupe) which I ordered online (and still available) as they didn't have any in store when I'd been. It's too long ago since I had the clinique one so I can't really compare them, but it's honestly of the best face creams I've ever used and I've already placed another order so will have 6 pots to work my way through which will hopefully last until the next beauty special buy event! It has a gel consistency, really cool when applied and makes my face feel really soft. I'm using it as a day cream on top of the Q10 serum. Would highly recommend (especially if, like me, you have dehydrated but not necessarily dry skin).

I also really like the marine hot cloth cleanser. Not as keen on the original - I just prefer the smell of the marine one. I bought one of the hot cloth cleanser gift sets last time I was in store but haven't tried them yet

Really glad I stumbled across this thread so thanks for starting it @ShiningGonnaShine

Popsy321 · 18/03/2021 17:29

@ShiningGonnaShine

Ooh, really!! So I have found the magical elixir of youth and it's only about £2.99 Smile
No you've not. You're just 39. Add 10 years on and you'll find there is no such thing as a magical elixir of youth.
