Could it be the Aldi skincare?!

I'm 39 and feel like my face has aged so much in the last year... After a brief spell of looking OK last spring/summer (which I put down to upping my game with my skin routine, thanks to some lovely products in the M&S summer beauty bag), it all went to shit last autumn when these monstrous bags appeared under my eyes which just wouldn't go away. I got worried that I'd somehow ruined my face with too much REN glow tonic or something. I tried drinking more water (and less wine, thanks to dry January), sleeping more etc but nothing seemed to work. I honestly looked like I'd aged 10 years.

Anyway, when my posher skin stuff ran out I went back to good old Nivea and it looked even worse. So, the other day, I bought some of the Aldi Lacura Q10 serum and rejuvelate day cream and, I swear, the bags have shrunk back to early 2020 size and my skin has got this lovely glow. This happened the day after I used the products for the first time...!

I don't know what else it could have been - I've got a really stressful week happening, I've got a cold, I'm not sleeping well, dry January DEFINITELY finished for me on Jan 30th etc... Could it really have been the creams that have had this effect, this quickly?

Can/should you use the serum day and night? I was thinking only yesterday that my current products are not working for me anymore and I happened to be in Aldi this morning so picked up some of the serum and day and night creams. Excited to feel like less of an old hag!

ShiningGonnaShine · 06/03/2021 12:30

@Hopdathelf, yes, it had occurred to me in the autumn that that was going on but this eye bag shrinking happened on Monday after I had used the creams for the first time on Sunday night. And I defo don't have my summer skin yet.

@mynameiscalypso - I'm useless at this stuff... I mean, I use the day cream at night too so I'm prob not the best one to answer this Grin.

I love the rejuvalate too. I bought it when I ran out of the Number 7 Protect and Perfect day and night creams near Christmas and I knew DS would buy me one of the P&P gift packs. Trouble is I don't want to change back now. I've only used the Soy serum so I'll give the Q10 a go.

mylovelydd · 06/03/2021 17:18

Why do Aldi discontinue stuff all the time? Hmm

Aldi if you're reading this - stop it. Just give us what we want and stop taking it away again.

Thank you.

toomanyplants · 06/03/2021 17:27

The blue pot night cream has knocked years off me!

lazylinguist · 06/03/2021 17:28

I love Aldi skincare! The Q10 serum is great, as are all the moisturisers I've tried - Q10, rejuvelate, caviar. My favourite are all the different Liz Earle dupe cleansers, especially the original and the pink clay ones.

TeachesOfPeaches · 06/03/2021 17:35

I've used the Nivea version for years, tried the Aldi one and it hurt my eyes. I think Q10 is some sort of magical anti ageing ingredient

Mumof31981 · 06/03/2021 18:19

Unfortunately I am unable to use the Aldi skincare as it is perfumed. Everytime I used the eye cream, can't remember what one it was but it was in a small purple jar, people used to comment asking what have i dont to my eyes and that i looked like i had an eye infection. I stopped using that eye cream and all comments have stopped! I now stick to face theory skincare as for me it works really well. Bit gutted really because the Aldi price tag suits me better lol!

@HoldontoOneMoreDay

Sounds fab, but honestly OP my biggest ever beauty tip is to change the stuff you use all the time. I have to do that because I get contact dermatitis if I use products for more than 6 months or so, so everything is on rotate. But I think new products 'shock' the skin into behaving well.
I think there's definitely something that. I find this especially true for hair products too, one months shiny and bouncy product is next months weighed down lank strands.
ElspethFlashman · 06/03/2021 19:14

I really liked the Rejuvulate but it stung my eyes so couldn't finish it. Sad

But I've used the Q10 Night cream for years off and on and it's absolutely lush and does seem to be quite smoothing.

Shame their shampoos are so shit when their skincare is so good.

Bananaman123 · 06/03/2021 19:22

Love the aldi vit c hot cloth cleanser and the retinol tonic

actiongirl1978 · 06/03/2021 19:49

I've tried several of their creams but they smell like toilet cleaner to me.

Not being a snob at all, their hot cloth cleanser is the absolute business! I'm going in tomorrow for a year's supply of hot cloth cleaner Grin

And my lancome foundation also smells like toilet cleaner!

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/03/2021 21:18

I think I use that anf it’s okay. I’m not sure I looked amazing though 🤔

justanotherneighinparadise · 06/03/2021 21:21

Actually it’s the Lidl Q10 serum that I use (and it’s basically the same stuff I’m sure). I do really like the Aldi hemp oil. I bought two bottles and they are lovely. I’d definitely buy again.

Thesheerrelief · 07/03/2021 08:54

Tried the aldi serum and, while it seemed lovely on my skin, it made my eyes really sting, even though I obviously didn't put it close to my eyes. The caviar night cream is lush and doesn't seem to cause me the same problem

Catwoman123 · 07/03/2021 10:59

Right I've just braved my local aldi to get this. I hate Aldi, it's always heaving and prole pushing and shoving even during covid 😱.
I've had horrendous bags since I had covid that have managed to stick around regardless of what I've done so I'm really really hoping that this works.

ShiningGonnaShine · 07/03/2021 18:53

Ooh, fingers crossed @Catwoman123... Really hope I haven't bigged it up too much and you end up being disappointed 😂.

Catwoman123 · 09/03/2021 12:30

@ShiningGonnaShine well I've had the worst nights sleeps the past two nights and look worse than ever so I don't think it'd be fair to comment on the Q10 yet Blush. Im going to use it for a week and also try to sleep more than 3 hours and then ill update.

Catwoman123 · 10/03/2021 18:21

Ok so review time..I woke up this morning and the puffiness is definitely reduced! I still have dark areas under my eyes but at this point I don't think ill ever shift them. I'm going to keep using this and see how I get on.
Thank you op! I'm happy I purchased this. Its done more for me than my £20 pot of kiehls under eye cream.

FreshFaceTime · 10/03/2021 19:29

@Catwoman123 sounds good! Is this the Q10 serum we're talking about here? I have some, I'm just checking you're not on about something else I need to add to the list!

ShiningGonnaShine · 10/03/2021 20:29

Awesome @Catwoman123! So pleased. I keep doubting myself and looking again but, it's true, the eye bags I had are definitely reduced. And it happened overnight!

OP posts:
Catwoman123 · 10/03/2021 22:06

It's the Aldi q10. It's definitely reduced the puffiness. I still look tired but I'm in my mid thirties with 3 young children so I cant expect miracles but it does seem like the puffiness disappeared overnight.

ihatethecold · 11/03/2021 19:52

I bought the glycolic acid toner yesterday for £2.99
I occasionally use Pixi glow so I’m hoping this works ok.
No idea how often I should use it.

ThisIsClare · 11/03/2021 23:36

@AnneLovesGilbert

That stuff is magical. I stock pile shamelessly because it’s amazing.
Picture of packaging please!!!
