I suspect they are, but they've had great reviews.

how about these ?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2021 15:28

I think I like a chunkier sole.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2021 15:28

But thank you for looking.

If you mean a bit frumpy and boring, then yes. Inoffensive is probably the most complimentary thing I could say about these....

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 03/01/2021 15:34

What in hell is a mum boot?

I don't like them anyway.

NeonSparkle · 03/01/2021 15:36

I usually hate joules - think it’s so Mumsy - but I actually really like those boots.
Would look cute with black tights and dresses especially

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2021 15:50

The Joules boots have really divided the Mumsnet jury!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2021 17:24

I've ordered - or actually asked DM to order - the chunky Schuh ones. We shall see.

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 03/01/2021 17:28

They have a bit more oomph to them. Whatever that is Smile

TheChosenTwo · 03/01/2021 17:41

The joules ones are just a bit dowdy. Definitely not what I would call biker boots (which I don’t like either!), they’re just plain black boots with a couple of metal bits stuck on!
Mind you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything I’ve liked in Joules either so perhaps I’m not the right person to answer!

Ellapaella · 03/01/2021 17:48

The schuh ones are great, love them. Not so keen on the Joules ones personally.

Atalune · 03/01/2021 18:01

I really like the goldy buckle ones that @AnyFucker linked to. Get em!

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 20:53

👋 to @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

(I remember you from a few boot camps ago!)

The ones you’ve ordered are much, much better! Quite cool & funky. 🤞that they fit you perfectly! Wear them with double socks (two thin pairs) for the first month or so and you should be fine.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 04/01/2021 21:01

@grool

They just look like a normal pair of boots to me. Do people really pay so much attention to what other people wear and whether someones boots go with their jeans?? I must have made some huge fashion errors in my time as I'd think it perfectly fine to wear those boots with a pair of skinny jeans.
I agree. I have literally never taken any notice of whether people's boots go with their jeans. If you like them buy them. I have no idea what mum boots are or why they would be "bad".
Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 21:05

People who are into fashion do tend to notice these things. I’m not bothered if other people wear something that really doesn’t go with the rest of what they’re wearing - I don’t judge or turn my nose up at it or anything like that, but I generally would notice. Not a big deal though, obviously - no one is obligated to dress ‘well.’

However I personally absolutely won’t go out wearing odd looking outfits - it would just feel too wrong. So I do pay attention to what style jeans I’m wearing with what top, and I’d make sure to wear footwear that fits.

Whereas I wouldn't have a clue whether my outfit would he considered odd looking by others so I just go out in what I like, what I think looks nice and what is comfortable, and if applicable what is practical for the activity I am doing. If you are talking about people not being obligated to dress "well" then presumably you think some people don't dress "well" which seems a bit judgey to me.

It's the Style & Beauty section! Most of us who post here have opinions on...style and beauty. If we didn't it would be a very quiet place. If you don't want to hear those opinions, you're free to hide the section.

Hello @Ninkanink! Glad you like the boots - shame I won't be going anywhere to wear them, eh? Have you signed up to the next Bootcamp? I have, to lose the few pounds I've gained over Christmas. But now we're in another lockdown and I just want to Eat All The Cake and Drink All The Wine. Confused

Yes they are. Or probably not. Who cares? But them. They are gorgeous!

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 22:06

@RichardMarxisinnocent uhm no...the quotation marks were there to acknowledge that dressing well is quite subjective. I don’t want to look odd according to my own subjective dress sense. As it happens I have no time for the tyranny of fashion and have championed women’s rights not to give a fuck about prescriptive fashion ‘rules’ and obligations to look good/dress well/etc etc many times on this board. So no, I don’t judge.

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 22:07

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal yes I’ve signed up. Having a bit of a carb & wine fest atm to get my fill. 😉

Apologies, I misinterpreted what you were meaning.

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 22:48

No worries! 🙂

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/01/2021 14:10

My boots are here and I love them!

Atalune · 06/01/2021 15:26

Yes see them!
