Orgasm or Deep Throat?

Friend has asked for this for a present but she can't get to try. I've used both but actually gave away as they were too bright for me.

She' s very pale and had been using Sex Appeal but thinks it's too pale.

I know Hannah Martin loves Deep Throat for all skin tones (in her John Lewis Xmas box) but not sure.

NARS really needs to let go of the whole pseudo shock factor thing. Nobody cares. Orgasm is lovely, but not in the powder form, but in the Multiple (stick format- lasts better, too.) It’s glowy but not sparkly like the powder is. I also adore South Beach, which is a cross between a bronze and an apricot blush. Portofino is a glorious peachy shade too.

AnyFucker · 05/10/2020 12:15

Ugh

Why are you people buying this crap ?

SausageRoll2020 · 05/10/2020 12:34

@AnyFucker because the quality of the product is more important to me than it's name and this is the best blusher I've found for me.

Maybe the names were designed to have shock factor, but I don't find them offensive personally and at least they are easy to remember when rebuying the product.

Make up seems to mostly be either numbered (forgettable) or has awful names (memorable). Personally I dislike the Ivory/ Porcelain / Rose style names more which suggest the wearer is maybe some kind of breakable doll and I'm sure there are questionable names relating to race if you look deeper.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 05/10/2020 12:38

Orgasm is fine, I get it, everyone can enjoy a nice orgasm and the blusher gives you the flush that you get with an orgasm etc. Fine.

Deep Throat though - why? Is it the colour you go when you have a dick shoved so far down your throat that you gag? "It's just shock factor but it has really unpleasant connotations.

JKRforPM · 05/10/2020 12:43

How utterly grim. Is this really what we want our daughters to grow up with ? The normalisation that women should be happy choking on cock?

This isn’t cool, it’s sexism at its very worst.

AnyFucker · 05/10/2020 12:44

It's possible to be so open minded your brains fall out.

This is a clear example.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 05/10/2020 12:47

Deep Throat.
Orgasm is too sparkly.
Grin

Thesuzle · 05/10/2020 12:48

Do they do nail colours called “wife beater” gaslighter, and porn addicted husband per chance ?

DesignerDesigner · 05/10/2020 12:49

Gosh, I didn't expect this to provoke such a response! I thought most people on S&B would know it was Nars and blusher.

I agree they are stupid names but not buying a product which is actually a good product in itself is not going to make any difference unless thousands of women boycott that shade.

Thanks for the helpful comments on shades. I've gone for Deep Throat and hope she likes it. Hmm

Deep Throat was popularised in an old porn film about a woman with a clitoris in her throat and thus needed stimulating by choking.
The actress has been very vocal since about the abuse.

You can see why when it pops up in active it sparks something and the assumption was trolling.
It isn't the post at all it's the flipping company disrespect!

I've been using Orgasm blusher for 20 odd years, I dont see a problem with it. Nars are high end products but maybe its time to name change so as not to offend some people.

DesignerDesigner · 05/10/2020 13:01

Well, if anyone's so unhappy I'm all for writing to Nars and imploring them to change the name. Who's going first?

DesignerDesigner · 05/10/2020 13:15

Me too. Love the products but they need to change the name.

I love their hilighter powder in "Gaslight" and the limited edition nail colours in "nisi" and "absolute"

Emmapeeler2 · 05/10/2020 13:16

Done. Ugh.

LesLavandes · 05/10/2020 13:22

I like the Nars Multiple in Portofino

TheQueef · 05/10/2020 13:23

I don't think it's offensive.
I think it's unnecessary and insidious.
Making things like this so normal that no one thinks twice, as Designer innocently did when she started a thread about blusher I think isn't a good thing.
Deep Throat is abuse it shouldn't be the name of an everyday item, it isn't edgy or cool it's a cheap shock and fuck you to women.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 05/10/2020 13:23

Done.
Also assumed this was a troll thread Confused

TheSeedsOfADream · 05/10/2020 13:29

I use Sex Appeal but I'm even a bit Hmm at that and many other Nars names.
Will also email.
Thank you for suggesting it.

TheQueef · 05/10/2020 13:36

We shouldn't be paying £25+ for products aimed at women yet named after abuse/coercion or derogatory acts against women.
They are spitting in our eye, it adds insult to injury.

DesignerDesigner · 05/10/2020 13:37

Just seen one of their products Climax mascara and a Tweet by them asking 'How do you reach your Climax?' FGS

😂 I thought you had posted in the wrong topic for a mo! 🤣

Scaraffito · 05/10/2020 13:46

I think orgasm is a good name, but the others are too try hard and a bit grim. In terms of the shade, I see you've already chosen- a good choice, orgasm is making its way around a lot of the beauty sub boxes etc now so perhaps it's been toppled as the go to blusher!
