Thank you so much for all your brilliant suggestions. I'm aware the last thread is running out, so I've added a new one, just in case we have any more suggestions from a bygone era, or we want to review any new purchases (I have loads on order at the moment!). Thanks to @kojolo for the thread title. Here's the link to the old one: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3944582-To-realise-I-like-old-lady-things

I've just stumbled across this thread. Could have done with the hug of the last thread during the first lockdown.

I love Agatha Christie, Miss Read's Fairacre series (but not Thursh Green oddly enough) and crocheting blankets. May have a bottle of Harvey's in the cupboard from last christmas that I'm slowly working my way through too.

@wildthingsinthenight I've bought the odd copy of the Lady. It's wonderful, but the subscription is quite pricey. I think I looked as a possible gift idea for my mum.

PineappleWilson · 07/12/2021 16:20

Ah, when it said there was an error, it was cheerfully still posting all my attempts then. Marvellous.

Sorry about the multiple posts folks.

Miss Read! I'm obsessed with her books! Have lots on Audible and all of them in hard copy. So cosy! I think I might get a subscription to The Lady for my birthday in January. It's lovely

With the miserable Covid news yesterday I found myself curled up in front of the fire with a dog, cuppa and a classic Poirot I’d recorded on the sky box yesterday. I’d even made cheese scones and Heinz tomato soup for lunch. Ultimate goals.

OneOfTheGrundys · 12/12/2021 10:07

Love that Christie tip! I’ll get on that.

wildthingsinthenight · 13/05/2022 13:04

Would anyone like to resurrect this lovely thread?
Happy memories of enjoying it and the previous ones all through the lockdowns.

RobinOnTheTable · 13/05/2022 16:47

How lovely to see this thread again. 🙋I'm in!

Solosunrise · 14/05/2022 06:58

And me!

PeaceLily2000 · 15/05/2022 14:03

I've been loving the Coastal Grandmother and Grandmillenial trends on TikTok. So many people out there who love the same things!

RobinOnTheTable · 15/05/2022 16:43

Its raining here, so I'm watching Morse, browsing a Cotton Traders catalogue and enjoying my rose room diffuser!
I've even got a blanket over my knees as the patio door is open for the dogs.

wildthingsinthenight · 15/05/2022 16:53

Sorry!
I resurrected this thread then got randomly logged out of my account and it was linked to a very old email address and I had to set the password etc etc etc ugh.
Just got it sorted.🙄

wildthingsinthenight · 15/05/2022 16:59

Lovely things I've been doing this weekend..
Pottering in the garden
Making biscuits with my DS
Listening to a podcast called She Dunnit
Reading Agatha Christie

Still thinking about getting a Doreen bra😊

SerendipitySunshine · 15/05/2022 17:09

Ooh more old lady ideas, fabulous! My new old favourite tipple is gin and bitter lemon.

teawamutu · 15/05/2022 18:51

I love Shedunnit 😍

I've taken up quilting, so have spent weekend peacefully stitching and dropping in to a craft fair at the church. Was lovely.

PeskyRooks · 15/05/2022 19:11

Hello ladies! So happy to see this thread still going I was on the original thread and earlier on on this one.
Today I made a felt hedgehog pincushion and an apple crumble!
Am planning a jubilee tea party with family, will be rose covered china, teapots and scones and home made cakes all the way! And maybe a small sherry in a proper glass to toast the queen 👑

Maybe it was you who mentioned it before? If so thank you.
I love a craft fair

Your jubilee plans sound lovely.
We are having a family tea party in my mum's garden ☕🍰🥪

Would you believe I've never seen a single episode of Morse?? Am I letting the side down? Is it really good?

I grew up in Oxford, so enjoy the scenery!
I'm not as keen on Morse as I was a few years ago, but love a murder-mystery. Am currently working my way through the Sister Boniface Mysteries - not as good as Father Brown, but an entertaining and gentle watch.

I've seen the odd episode of Father Brown and liked it.
I really need to find out where I can watch that and Morse from the beginning

RobinOnTheTable · 16/05/2022 14:44

I think all Morse episodes are available on the ITV Hub, @wildthingsinthenight
