With 'old lady' not being an offensive term, but rather referring to women with knowledge, refined taste and other positive qualities

Show off your pretty things and link to dresses, slips, twinsets, pearls, stockings, big knickers, cross your heart bras, prestige scents, retro style makeup, soap and everything else in between

Thanks, ThisEnglishLife - it was me. I want dark colours though - ideally black or grey, or navy at a push.

Thanks for looking. I want short sleeves, and not jersey. Basically I want a proper gothic horror/Lady Macbeth nightie, but in black or grey, rather than white. It doesn't exist! Grin

Funny to see this I was having a wistful google of french soaps yesterday. This company £££ but stylish packaging and very eco.
www.absolution-cosmetics.com/en/84-savon

Also can’t beat these ones for scents and affordable www.lepetitolivier.fr/douche-et-savon.html

And this one, widely available in French supermarkets with lovely scents www.naturalfrenchsoap.com/le-petit-marseillais-soap-bars

My favourite for packaging and beautiful scents is Ortigia. These are Sicilian soaps also £££, the trappings are gorgeous. www.ortigiasicilia.com/bath-shower/soap

Back to knickers, I can recommend Sainsbury's full cotton briefs.

Me too, Cocolapew, they go right up past my navel Grin More importantly, they cover my whole bum and don't ride up. I hate knickers that only cover half a cheek.

OMG, I don't like to think of myself as 'an old lady' but knicks up to my navel, and cross your heart bras are everyday wear at the mo.

Ok just read the original thread and realise I don’t actually have to be an old lady. Well, I’m 49 so old to my teen girls. I love rose scents and real bar soap. Currently using a lovely citrus one from l’occitane. I’ve made a gathered curtain for under my worktop in the utility room. Made it in my sewing machine. Love tea in a cup and saucer. Just bought L’air du temps. Love an early night with a book.

Thanks, Vebrithien. Too big though.

I'll have a look at La Redoute, thanks, LilGreen.

I did wonder about dying one, but would prefer not to have to!

Dyeing things black is actually really hard. I tried to dye a white floral 100% cotton Cath Kidston dress black with Dylon washing machine dye and it came out a dark inky blue. Disappointed!

Place marked!
I recently bought a Pashley bicycle and on looking on their website, ordered a dainty blouse with silk and a merino top in the sale. Both arrived beautifully wrapped in tissue paper. Highly recommended although they come up smaller than high St sizes- very vintage! www.pashleystore.co.uk/collections/ladies-attire

lilgreen not ,of course, there's anything wrong in being a REAL old lady is there ? Grin The definition ( the actual age) has changed a lot hasn't it.

I too stock up on lovely French soap in the supermarket there. Until such time as I can get there, I'm resorting to the French Click website for that and other Gallic treats.

Is the Pashley stiuff made in China? I have an old lady intolerance to anything that is made there Grin

I am surprised I missed the first thread. I love old fashioned looks, pearls, and have never been much of a jeans wearer. I prefer dresses to trousers as they really are more comfortable and I feel that I can more more easily.

I love watching the Marvelous Mrs Maisel, not just for the great scripts and acting, but for the clothes. I have a vintage lace 50s New Look style dress which I pull out for special occasions and it always gets loads of compliments and the styles on the show always remind me of that dress.

One of my favourite scents for summer is L'Eau Fraiche by Christian Dior. It is not one of the famous ones and was created by M Dior for himself. It is, however, unisex and smells like just getting out of the shower if you have used verbena soap.
