Ladies with large breasts. Do bras exist that provide amazing support but don’t look awful?

Readysetcake · 08/05/2020 14:31

I’m finding myself wearing my sports bras more as I like the support. My ordinary bras need replacing so I know that is part of the problem. So, as I’m in the market to replace my bras I’d like to find one that minimises jiggling but doesn’t look like a sport bra or matronly.

Any ideas?

Take thee to Bravissimo

Branleuse · 08/05/2020 14:38

Yeah loads. Im a G cup and I love curvy kate and freya (and also molke)

dementedpixie · 08/05/2020 14:39

Measure according to this:

How large are we talking? Fantasy bras are my favourite. They give a good shape and look pretty while holding everything up.

Maria53 · 08/05/2020 14:43

Yes Bravissimo Smile

thenightsky · 08/05/2020 14:56

I like Fantasie best for my shape (34E). I think you just have to keep trying different styles and brands until you hit on one you are comfortable with.

I was actually going to start a thread today asking if anyone had tried Miss Mary of Sweden bras. They are expensive, but look amazing.

Puffinhead · 08/05/2020 15:14

I swear by Fantasie bras too. I buy them online when there’re on offer at Debenhams, pay about £22-28.

MrsH497 · 08/05/2020 15:21

Bravissimo! In terms of brands Freya, panache, also like curvy Kate.

Avoid M&S like the plague!

HermioneWeasley · 08/05/2020 15:25

Lots on brastop with easy returns

Bravissimo let men try on bras in their changing rooms which rather puts me off

MayhapsIAm · 08/05/2020 15:30

Freya have been my go to brand for years - often find them in the sales as well and last for YEARS!

KellyHall · 08/05/2020 15:32

How big? I'm a 32/34G and have some great strapless Ultimate Wonderbras, Debenhams Gorgeous DD+ and M&S Super Soft.

Roominmyhouse · 08/05/2020 15:32

There is a fab website called brastop which is much better priced than bravissimo. I’ve recently bought a bra by curvy Kate called ‘victory’ in a couple of colours. Supportive and they look great.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/05/2020 15:32

Fantasie or Bravissimo - Freya don't work for me, although I have no idea why.

Whilst we're here, has anybody found pretty bra-let type things for those large of nork?

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 08/05/2020 15:41

Ooh, marking my place for Remus' question!
I'm not that big -28 E I think but I have never found a bralet that was both comfy and supportive. I had hopes for the M+S Louisa one. Nah. No good for me. Not that comfy and gave me a dreaded uniboob.

I wear the same Freya bra all the time, I can't find anything else as good, and believe me when I say I have tried. Freya Idol. Not very pretty unfortunately.

billybagpuss · 08/05/2020 15:43

Bravissimo or John Lewis, Freya and Fantasie are good

greathat · 08/05/2020 15:44

I'm HH fantasie ones are the best I find

WhyDoesItAlways · 08/05/2020 15:49

Another vote for bravissimo. Go in and get measured properly, they are very helpful and you might find like me you are a different size in different types of bra. I got some lovely ones in there a few months ago. Their bras are around the £30 mark.

EdithHope · 08/05/2020 15:51

Fantasie, they changed my life. So comfortable and supportive. I prefer a JL fitting myself, rather than Bravissimo.

mateysmum · 08/05/2020 15:57

There are loads of online bra retailers now. Have a look at Bravissmo, then google a style you like as you can often find it cheaper elsewhere especially if you're not too fussy about the colour.

Figleaves also have a huge selection.

I too recommend Fantasie/Freya (same company), but it's very individual. I recently got a Freya Fancies plunge bra which has a really slim back strap with a single hook. I'm a 32G and couldn't believe how supportive it was.

Defo avoid MnS. Absolute rubbish on both fit and quality.

sleepyhead · 08/05/2020 16:04

Fantasie and Freya are my go-tos.

Make sure you get a small enough back size as a too loose back really makes it difficult to get decent support. If you're used to a looser back it might not feel so comfy at first though.

twins2019 · 08/05/2020 16:15

I live in elomi sports bras. Otherwise as others have said fantasie would be my second option. HH here - I have to take out another mortgage every time I update my bra collection...

lindyloo57 · 08/05/2020 17:26

I used to work in a lingerie shop over ten years ago, was there for 16 years, so lots of experience, it's funny that I could never find a fantastic bra that suited me, we did carry almost the full range they had at the time, I expect there are different styles now, so maybe I should try them again, out of all brands we stocked, and we stock lots, the only bra that gave me a good fit and looked great, was playtex style 7272, when we were made redundant I stock up so had around 20 to last for a while, its discontinued now and to this day no bra come close to how that style fitted me.

Readysetcake · 08/05/2020 18:21

Thank you so much for all the replies it’s so helpful. I’m a 34E so not that big but still finding that M&S don’t cut it. And definitely not since having kids.

Brastop sounds great, especially if returns are easy. I’ll check that out. I don’t have a bravissimo anywhere near me sadly. I’d love to go in and get measured (if that is ever allowed again).

Thanks again everyone!
