When this is all over are you going to buy something special?

Either because you’ve got some money you would have frittered away in the shops or to mark surviving it, something to look forward to maybe?

No in fact I think the opposite. I was always ‘treating’ myself to something or other. I have so many clothes I don’t know what to do with them all. And this right now has taught me what a frigging waste! We are now down 50% earnings . And I’m enjoying the simplified life to be honest. So no I don’t think I will. And I would never have thought I’d say that, as someone who had had to have counselling for ‘comfort spending’, you know how lots of people comfort eat or drink too much? I shop! Always done it. Such a bad thing to do. Anyway I’m taking this as my wake up call!

LuxuryWoman2020 · 25/03/2020 20:19

I’m looking forward to a haircut for sure, also going out for dinner with family and friends. Not clothes though, I have plenty.

MrsGrindah · 25/03/2020 20:21

@Kenworthington Agree completely! I like nice things but I have realised I just don’t need all this stuff! Hopefully that’s something good that may come out of all this

MrsGrindah · 25/03/2020 20:21

Nobody really cares if I wear a green blouse or a blue blouse etc...

RogueV · 25/03/2020 20:22

I am going to purchase a new handbag today. Sorry I know you said when this is all over but I’m a frontline HCP and a bit like fuck it, I would like a new bag and I’m going to have it.

It’s a Kate Spade one in the sale.

Also purchased some GHDs that arrived today Smile

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/03/2020 20:23

A night away without the kids Grin

And maybe a nice dress to wear on it.

MulberryPeony · 25/03/2020 20:23

I’ve been thinking jewellery to mark it. I too have realised that I have a wardrobe full of clothes! I do need some new work shoes or rather did. If it’s lockdown for longer than 3 weeks I may be able to go straight into summer shoes!

Thankssomuch · 25/03/2020 20:24

I’ve got a wardrobe full of gorgeous clothes (some great stuff I’d bought for Spring) which I am gutted not to be wearing. I doubt if anything would stop me spending really.

browzingss · 25/03/2020 20:24

I’ve been putting off getting a tattoo, which I definitely want to get booked in now. Life’s too short!

Otherwise no, there’s nothing I particularly want to buy. Would love to book some holidays or trips away though? Or even just spending my money on eating out instead of fashion/beauty.

AnneJeanne · 25/03/2020 20:24

A car. Nothing fancy but I haven’t driven in over 10 years and it’s time to start again.

Souldancediva · 25/03/2020 20:26

I've liberated a Money Box that I had put away for a gift, one of those pots that you need to break to get your casjh out of
All the money we arent going to be spending , will be in it .
When this is all over we will put it towards a holiday .

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/03/2020 20:42

Definitely a tattoo, and hopefully getting a dress made for me or a new Westwood - but I was pondering all of these things anyway. Normally I'd treat myself every few weeks - a new lipstick here, a new dress there, a trip to a coffee shop or restaurant etc - so I'll be saving a lot of money.

whatwouldjohnmclanedo · 25/03/2020 20:44

Definitely a haircut for the whole family. And the new carpet I was planning for the stairs

TheLinerunner · 25/03/2020 20:45

A bloody good cry, tbh. Holding it in while dealing with everyone else.

MrsGrindah · 25/03/2020 20:51

@TheLinerunner Sorry it hear that . Flowers

MulberryPeony · 25/03/2020 20:51

Let it out a bit at a time @TheLinerunner you don’t know how long you’ll have to support everyone else for so one foot in front of the other and take care of yourself too. (Sorry very in mumsnetty of me Wink)

I’ve realized how much I comfort-shop too. I’ve always loved shopping & clothes. Living in a big city, it’s just something I enjoy.
But, I’ve been over it for a while now... And this is a big push not to do it anymore. Finding it really hard being away from usual routine, but it might turn out to be a good thing.
I do like the idea of buying one good thing, now & then, instead. A bottle of Chanel, maybe!

Littleshortcake · 25/03/2020 20:53

I actually but very little for myself. Most clothes I wear and wear until they need replacing. This whole thing has made me want to look after myself a bit more. I am going to trea t myself to an Alex Monroe necklace

MoltoAgitato · 25/03/2020 20:53

New bag, maybe. Am saving about £150 a month on petrol costs at the moment!

Ninkanink · 25/03/2020 20:53

Yes, I’m going to buy a handbag for a belated birthday present.

MrsMyreton · 25/03/2020 20:54

A haircut!
New maternity clothes (currently wearing the few old bits I had from first pregnancy).
And the new bits and bobs for our September baby. Smile

Littleshortcake · 25/03/2020 20:54

Mind yourself mindrunner

louderthan · 25/03/2020 20:54

Might buy a really nice bag

Ninkanink · 25/03/2020 20:57

Oh and a piece of jewellery too, I think.

TheLinerunner · 25/03/2020 21:01

Thank you everyone Flowers

I appreciate the kind thoughts.
