When this is all over are you going to buy something special?

Either because you’ve got some money you would have frittered away in the shops or to mark surviving it, something to look forward to maybe?

Yup, something posh and pretty that I like the look of, whatever that may be. Smile

JaceLancs · 26/03/2020 22:43

Yes probably I nearly always buy diamonds to cheer me up and with all the money I’ll be saving could be something very special!
I am a massive fan of tkmaxx but rarely shop online there as very hit and miss so am struggling with no cheer me up bargains
It’s also my birthday next week but fortunately my loved ones have shopped in advance so will still be getting my jaeger camel coat - Kipling gym hold-all and gold chain for my newly acquired diamond star
This isn’t a stealth boast post btw - I’m struggling with work load - Working from home - corona virus - carer for elderly DM with Alzheimer’s - bereavement etc

RJnomore1 · 26/03/2020 22:45

Botox.

I’ll need it more than now by that point. Although all the raised eyebrows at questionable work decisions may counteract the furrowed brows.

JaceLancs · 26/03/2020 22:46

Forgot to add no idea how I’m going to cope without a haircut! I can do my own nails - will risk hair dye for roots with DS help - have eyelash dying kit too
But my diet isn’t good and am scared I’m going to regain a lot of what I’d lost (7.5 stone)

middleager · 26/03/2020 22:52

In lockdown I've missed big parties for mother's day, my mother's birthday, husband's birthday and my two DS birthdays (all within 3 weeks).

I want a big family gathering with absolutely no pasta or tinned tomatoes. Just family and cakes.

Elsie1966 · 29/03/2020 20:28

I agree with @kenworthington I have too many clothes and so if I survive this will be having a nice holiday with do and getting a tattoo to mark the end of this terrible virus. It too has been a big reality check that, material things really don't matter. And so no more comfort shopping for me, stay safe mumsnetters Flowers

XingMing · 29/03/2020 20:41

I am looking forward to going out again, to do almost anything impractical.

zukiecat · 29/03/2020 21:19

A new sofa, it'll be a second hand one from Somebody Cares or Instant Neighbour, so no more than £100, hopefully less.

DD2 and I moved in very difficult circumstances to temporary housing, but we were told in late November that the temporary flat is our permanent home. Been through a lot to get here., the flat was furnished when we moved in, but one of the sofas is in bad condition, so once this is over I want to get a newer one.

Ladybirdbookworm · 29/03/2020 23:37

I have no idea what but I'm going to enjoy thinking about it

squishee · 30/03/2020 11:41

If my DM and other elderly/vulnerable family members are still alive at that point, that will be more than enough of a gift for me. Understatement of the century.

PegasusReturns · 30/03/2020 11:50

I’m a shopper - I love bags, jewellery, perfume and make up. I have more clothes, shoes and boots than I can wear.

This has really given me pause for thought. I definitely use shopping to fill a gap and I can’t help thinking now it’s a bit pointless.

slipperyeel · 30/03/2020 12:47

I’m hoping to emerge from this into the sunshine and with a much smaller arse so hope to be buying myself some lovely summer dresses

Silvernutmeg70 · 30/03/2020 15:54

Seeing my partner who doesn't live with me - missing him so much, being with him again and also friends is much more important than stuff.

LunaTheCat · 31/03/2020 07:21

Zuckicat bless you- hope you find the perfect sofa. Find some cheap , bright cheap cushions. Congratulations on your new home - I hope you are very happy there.

Knowwhentorun · 31/03/2020 15:39

I think at this rate I’ll be buying clothes while this is still on...I’m not sure I want to be shopping when this is over, I want to be straight out there and dressed to go.

I need more heels in my wardrobe for starters. At this rate I may end up dressing up to go to the supermarket (no other adults in my household...).

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2020 15:41

I’ve gone off it completely but I’ll need a hair cut and highlights by then.

BeNiceToYourSister · 31/03/2020 20:57

It’s really refreshing to see how many people are rethinking their need to buy so many clothes, etc - I feel the same. Thinking of using the time at home to make a couple of dresses from lovely Liberty fabric I’ve been saving for years as I’ve never had the time to do anything with it!

RogueV - thank you for the work you do Flowers You’ve bloody well earned that handbag!

MooPointCowsOpinion · 31/03/2020 21:00

Does a holiday count? We are so going on a MASSIVE holiday. Trinkets and stuff just don’t matter but being free to see the world and choosing to just stay home surrounded by junk seems madness now.

ZaraW · 02/04/2020 12:07

I'm still working as usual. I've just ordered an Emma Lacey one cup teapot. I'm a huge tea drinker. Love her mugs and the teapot is lovely.

CoolCarrie · 02/04/2020 12:31

Nothing as I managed to buy a funky slim fitting dress the day before the lockdown here. It has a lovely print of Van Gogh almond blossom on it, in three different colour ways in a pop art style very unusual and cost more than I usually pay but thought sod it I love it and will wear it the day we get out of here! Then nothing for a wee while

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/04/2020 12:58

Well my highlights and cut will be classified as necessary (and also urgent!) but as I will have missed out on a much-longed-for holiday I'm going to treat myself and get my brows done. It will cost €400 but I think it will be worth it. Not going to buy any clothes as there's really nothing I need.

zukiecat · 03/04/2020 16:04

LunaTheCat

Thankyou so much, that's lovely

Excited to be able to buy a new sofa when all this is over Thanks

Alsohuman · 03/04/2020 16:14

No, I have far too much already. In fact my stepdaughter’s getting my Bayswater at the end of this as a thank you for her 12 hour ITU shifts. She deserves it. I don’t.

HarrySnotter · 03/04/2020 19:29

All I want to do is go out for a nice meal with my friends and get a bit pissed.

I have far too much stuff and I'm going to take the next 10 and a half weeks to sort stuff out. I'm never getting into that size 8 dress again and I have about 3 evening dresses that I will never wear again. Time to let them go to someone who may make use of them.

WellTidy · 03/04/2020 19:35

I am realising just how many clothes I have and how few I actually need. I will hopefully, everything crossed, come out of this weighing a bit less and able to fit into some things that I haven’t worn for a good couple of years. I buy so much and don’t need it. I am ploughing my way through my skincare and toiletries stash and I know that I have enough body lotion to last three years. That’s the kind of ‘too many things’ I am talking about! I will definitely not be turning to buying more.
