When this is all over are you going to buy something special?

Either because you’ve got some money you would have frittered away in the shops or to mark surviving it, something to look forward to maybe?

OP posts:
Almahart · 25/03/2020 21:13

No and I usually find it really hard not to shop. I’ll be happy to wear stuff I’m not wearing at the moment as live in jeans and jumpers at home. I’ve lost all interest in shopping and I hope it lasts

SpeckledyHen · 25/03/2020 21:23

Nope . Don’t need any more stuff , I’ll go to the seaside and eat fish and chips and ice cream .

LuxuryWoman2020 · 25/03/2020 21:26

Seaside and fish and chips sounds fantastic speckledyhen definitely doing that. A busy pub garden and a cold glass of fizz too, so normal yet so out of reach for a while.

Ninkanink · 25/03/2020 21:44

However I’m also going to clear my overdraft and not put anything on the credit card.

I don’t really need anything for the time being; certainly no fripperies.

Dogwalks2 · 25/03/2020 22:10

I’ve ordered Charlotte Tilbury glow and a few other bits, think it’s my lunch money now I am staying at home. A can of soup costs nothing compared to a Costa sandwich and a coffee. Little wins.

Eesha · 25/03/2020 23:24

Hair cut and colour!

MrsP2015 · 25/03/2020 23:34

I've learnt not to buy in advance!

Got dc's summer (branded) shoes (x3 pairs) in the sales and some lovely expensive summer clothes and cheap and cheerful nursery clothes.. all to be worn at home now!

I think when we are done with this for me it's more about family time/ friends time.

Also like a pp said, I buy too much pointless crap anyway.

Floisme · 25/03/2020 23:57

I will definitely treat myself although I don't know how our finances are going to pan out or how much cash I will have. But whatever I do will almost certainly involve clothes.
If my two favourite businesses: a dress agency and a second hand market stall survive, I'll treat myself to something there. But I also like the idea of becoming more self sufficient, so I might invest in some kind of dressmaking or tailoring or even pattern cutting course.

IdblowJonSnow · 26/03/2020 00:22

Hair cut and colour
Botox. Not fussed about few wrinkles but I'm very frownie and look a bit scary!
Going out lots with friends for food and drinks.

RosieSunset · 26/03/2020 00:24

A really good bottle of champagne

AnotherMurkyDay · 26/03/2020 00:31

Somebody else to watch my kids so I can have a bath and a nap in peace.

And some hand cream

PersonaNonGarter · 26/03/2020 07:29

I’d like to book a holiday but I think travel is never going back to the way it was. Or it’ll be a long time yet.

I can hardly remember what it was like to want clothes that aren’t yoga pants and hoodies.

Nitpickpicnic · 26/03/2020 10:43

Yes, an Alex Monroe piece of jewellery in commemoration here too.

Likely one of those botanical ones- like a necklace of rosemary sprigs. To remember the challenges (and likely people I know who didn’t survive the next months) and also because it’s the only hardy herb in my garden, and it’s going into everything!

ReginaGeorgeous · 26/03/2020 11:14

In the basis I doubt I’ll have a holiday this year, I’m going to buy a proper sun lounger for my garden.

Mercurial123 · 26/03/2020 12:53

No I used to overshop and would find any excuse to spend money. This is a good time to realise how much stuff we all have and how little we really need.

peaceanddove · 26/03/2020 13:04

I'm mid treatment for breast cancer so have had surgery on affected breast reducing from a 34G to a 34D plus lifted quite a bit too. Now waiting for radiotherapy then cosmetic reduction & lift on other breast after RT. So once I have matching boobs at last, I am treating myself to lots of very pretty and expensive bras with matching knickers. An added bonus will be that the bras can just be pretty and frivolous from now on (not my usual boulder holders) because my boobs will be pert again for the first time in twenty years Grin

AuntieMarys · 26/03/2020 13:06

Nothing I need clothes wise. But I will be having a morning at my beauty salon for facial and nails, and a hair appointment.

Floisme · 26/03/2020 13:06

I don't think anyone is saying they need these things. In fact the whole point is that they're not things we need but things that will be a treat.

YewandOak · 26/03/2020 13:12

A train ticket to work!
And a hair cut!

ElektraPlektra · 26/03/2020 13:14

I am going to get my hair cut it's already been a year since the last cut and I can't wait to go to the fancy restaurant we go to twice a year. We would have gone in April, that's definitely not going to happen.

Floisme · 26/03/2020 13:21

I will also buy a magazine, if there are any left - not an online one but a real one one with glossy, perfumed pages. And I will take it to a coffee shop, if there are any left, and read it cover to cover.

willowpatterns · 26/03/2020 13:33

I will be taking dd out shopping so she can choose her 21st birthday present. Fortunately, I've already bought her card, so at least she will get that on the day.

Sooverthemill · 26/03/2020 14:28

I feel so lucky as I'm virtually housebound anyway so this genuinely doesn't feel like any kind of hardship. But it's my birthday next week and I'm going to ask DH to buy me an old fashioned wooden sun lounger.

GatoFofo · 26/03/2020 15:15

A bucket list holiday with family.

hammeringinmyhead · 26/03/2020 15:27

I was a retail buyer/merchandiser until last week when I was made redundant. I am pretty sure people's habits will have changed to the point where I don't want to go and work for another company that sells clothing, accessories or homewares because it'll happen again 6 months down the line.

I might buy myself a nice new outfit for interviews but that's all really as I'm currently spending my days in Hush joggers and t shirts looking after a 17 month old.
