Is this look too young for me?

A friend commented that stitching down the side of trousers is a youth trend and she sneered at these trousers on a shopping trip. I work from home and always dress casually (am 48) - I loved the way they look but obviously they are expensive and what she said has me worried about buying them and then not wearing them because of what she said. Are they a bit try hard?

I think dressing 'age appropriate' is more about not looking like a dolled up 20 year old on a night out, then forgoing your sense of style and taste if you're lucky enough to have developed one
