To ask for your advice on buying a cheap wedding dress! £100 max

Planning on a registry office wedding, no fuss but would like a nice dress.

Nothing ott, not white, not too much lace, long though but most importantly cheap! £100 max really!

Any successful purchases by Mnetters? Where did you buy? Any advice gratefully received Grin

Oxfam bridal? They have
all kinds of wedding dress

ByeMF · 16/01/2020 20:56

Oxfam online. Our local hospice charity shop also has a massive wedding dress section. Facebook marketplace.

People spend an absolute fortune on a dress, get it cleaned and eventually give it away or sell it. Most of them are as new.

SweetMarmalade · 16/01/2020 20:57

Ooh thank you both the B’s with your Oxfam suggestions. Off to take a look.

Monsoon have some lovely wedding dresses too.

Junie70 · 16/01/2020 20:59

Ebay? I bought my DD a Monsoon wedding dress for £99 on there, it was in perfect condition and still had the tags etc. She wanted to wear a white sundress Hmm so this was a happy compromise.

notmyrealone · 16/01/2020 21:00

I found mine on ASOS, it was on sale for £38. I just tweaked it a little, shortened the sleeves and added some lace. It was actually really good quality!

TheQueens · 16/01/2020 21:01

Quiz Bridal collection! Got mine for £40 odd quid in the sale and looked lovely on, not lacy, few sequins over the bust and it had slight capped sleeves I don't know if I'm doing it any favours here but it really didn't look cheap on, was lovely in all my pictures. Will see if I can find a link if they still sell it...

Mumdiva99 · 16/01/2020 21:02

I just looked at all dresses in the sort of shops I would like to get one in. I ended up with a much cheaper dress than I thought ....think £40!!! And just enjoyed my day in a cheaper dress. (Glad I did as I said I would wear it again in the summer and on holiday as it was just a nice dress - but I haven't as it's a bit smarter than I normally wear.)

DollyPomPoms · 16/01/2020 21:04

Monsoon and Asos. French connection also did a beautiful bridal collection that is now reduced in their sale and John Lewis sale.

GlennBulb · 16/01/2020 21:04

Have you tried the website lightinthebox?
Mine was less than £100 and my veil was a fiver!

TheQueens · 16/01/2020 21:05

Argh noooo they don't seem to have any on their website anymore, sorry!

GlennBulb · 16/01/2020 21:06

H&M?

cheninblanc · 16/01/2020 21:08

I got mine from asos, it was a wedding dress but not white. I loved it and paid £55.

FairyLightsAreMyCrack · 16/01/2020 21:12

I have no suggestions other than to ask in style and beauty, the posters on there are better than stylists! Congratulations Wine

SweetMarmalade · 16/01/2020 21:12

I’m still reading and checking out your suggestions, thank you.

Would you size up? I’m a 12 but depends on the make I suppose. Can always take it in.

I saw on Facebook today that the Debenhams stores that are closing have their wedding dresses down to £20 if that’s any help?

SweetMarmalade · 16/01/2020 21:42

@GlennBulb thanks for your suggestion. Have seen a lovely dress which is very reasonable. How does the site work? Are the dresses made from your sizes or do they have various sizes available?

I would have a look on stillwhite.co.uk

GlennBulb · 16/01/2020 21:54

It's various sizes, I'm glad I was of some help :)
