Planning on a registry office wedding, no fuss but would like a nice dress.

Nothing ott, not white, not too much lace, long though but most importantly cheap! £100 max really!

Any successful purchases by Mnetters? Where did you buy? Any advice gratefully received Grin

Thanks everyone so far.

Looked at so many but I’m seeing nothing I like Hmm nothing that quite hits the mark.

Need some help. Would like a sleeve, possibly, from elbows up. Nothing low cut, floor length, Ivory, cream or a gold colour, don’t think white suits me. Nothing too lacy, a bit of sparkle. Argh! Here’s me not wanting fuss and I’ve become a bit picky! Grin

H & M do wedding dresses very reasonable too

Check the charity shops, you’ll be very very surprised.
My mummy volunteers at one, they have a whole bridal section with suits, bridesmaid dresses, wedding dresses the lot.
Some haven’t been worn! And if worn, only once.. :)
If you’re from Northern Ireland I can private message you the location just let me know! that’s where we are

Debenhams online, paid €129 so not far off £100, was so pretty yet simple. And delivered within a few days

SymphonieFantastique · 21/01/2020 09:34

I wore a Jenny Packham (not wedding) dress when I got married. Noticed them on sale (something like £250 reduced to £100) as I walked through my local Debenhams so bought it there & then. www.debenhams.com/women/dresses/no-1-jenny-packham?sid=*price

I bought an amazing wedding dress from this site:
www.jjshouse.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3KivmrOU5wIVB7TtCh2lbgJfEAAYASAAEgKWyPD_BwE

I bought a bridesmaid dress actually instead of an actual bridal dress because I wanted a simpler cut (channeling Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's look).

It fit perfectly, apart from the bust (I am tiny, like a negative A cup), so I had that altered. I was amazed by how well made the dress was and beautifully cut. You do need to give them your measurements so that they can get it as right as possible. It took about 4 weeks from the date of order to arrival. £100 including alterations.

Another vote for Monsoon here. I bought mine from there. It was great!

Freshstart40 · 21/01/2020 10:24

Also Hobbs have a 70% off sale on at the moment.

Goawayquickly · 21/01/2020 17:29

That lightinthebox company are in China and have terrible reviews online.

I’d agree Debenhams might throw up a gem or Monsoon.

Ellapaella · 21/01/2020 18:22

I got my wedding dress from Karen Millen. It was reduced in the sale to £79. I also got married in a registry office, very low key. My dress was a simple ivory ruched dress. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted - nothing fussy, simple but flattering. I had it adjusted to fit perfectly by a local dress maker and alterations cost less than £30.

Ellapaella · 21/01/2020 18:23

ASOS and Dorothy Perkins also do wedding dresses.

TheoneandObi · 21/01/2020 18:32

Oooo I'd love to see pics of these lovely and reasonable dresses you're all describing! I happily married and over the bit do enjoy a good wedding frock! I had to step right back when DiL was faffing about hers. I soooo wanted to be involved!

Ghost currently have a sale, very simple but beautiful dresses.

Love51 · 21/01/2020 20:54

I went to a designer wedding dress shop and loved a dress I tried on. It was end of line. I went away to.think on it in case I was being a cheapskate, but went back when the shop opened the next morning and bought my dress for £50. My mum is friends with a lady who makes wedding dresses, so she did the alterations for nowt. Looking back it was the fact that it fitted perfectly that made me feel amazing in it. So, cheap dress, (end of line / the one people try on in the shop,) and save the money for seamstress (unless you know one!)

@TheVanguardSix thanks for the link. I quite like this one from their site, just not sure about the bow! Length and sleeves fab though.

To ask for your advice on buying a cheap wedding dress! £100 max

@SymphonieFantastique I quite like the Jenny Packam dresses, number two in the link you suggested, the midi sparkle, love the colour, just needed it to be floor length and non wrap but colour wise, spot on. I have a DD Bust so unsure about a wrap, I’m tall though so ideally would like floor length.
