January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?

Good morning and a Happy New Year!

I have thoroughly enjoyed overindulged myself this Christmas. I am usually very reigned in but I've let go to make the most of the festivities.

However I have put on 7lb (eek!) over the Christmas period, had late nights, hardly any fruit or veg or enough water etc.

Anyone else want to do a little January princessing to get the New Year off to a good start?

Daily basic list for me:

Drink 2 litres of water
Take multivitamins
No junk at all
Early nights.

End of Jan goal
To have lost the 7lb and feel healthier!

Would be good to have some company!

I've not weighed myself but I definitely feel better! Each day I've completed the squat Challenge, drank 2L of water, vitamins and additional vit d, 5/6 fruit or veg and done 10k steps. Done some light weights the past 2 days too. Feeling good and strong this time!!!

mymadworld · 05/01/2020 21:41

Done 5 days of yoga and day 4 of my daily squat app (didn't start until 2nd) and water intake well up Grin. My diet has been atrocious this past month but all Christmas treats either finished, binned or redistributed and back. To work tomorrow so that's when I get properly back on track. I really need a boot up the backside so doing a 5 day detox/clean eating program before - it's literally just veg tomorrow so wish me luck ConfusedShock

FuckingHateRats · 06/01/2020 09:52

Today is my last day at home before I go back to work. Have had a lovely bath, done hair mask and have also taken chipped paint off my toes and repainted. Used the foot cream I always forget to apply.

I'm going to keep a friend for coffee but will abstain from cake because today is the day that marks back to reality (and I've put on 6lb!!)

Managed 8k steps yesterday, will try get to 10 today.

LlamaofDrama · 06/01/2020 14:34

Sparkle I'm a big fan of my tanning drops, after a few days. I'm not aiming for golden, just for off-pasty Grin and they are delivering that beautifully.

I'm feeling a bit smug really. I did a walk earlier that will take me over my steps target, my weight has hit the 2lb loss that I needed, now I'm onto the bonus loss and I'm sticking to the diet. And I've been putting oil onto my nails at bedtime. If I can keep this up for more than a week it'll be a miracle but so far so good.

How's everyone else doing? Feeling positively regal?

Floridasunset · 06/01/2020 20:27

Mixed results here, I've been running and drinking more water. Cutting out unhealthy snacks in the evening and i lost 5lbs. And then today I had a craving for sweet things and ate some Christmas cake that we still have. I knew I should have thrown it away but it was delicious after having a break from all the sweet stuff!
Will be good again tomorrow I promise

Floridasunset · 06/01/2020 20:27

Well done everyone on your princessing so far

BuddhaAtSea · 06/01/2020 22:56

I’m doing red january, so I exercise every day. Today it was running 6 k. After work. I managed to have a bath and soak for a while, but I am absolutely knackered.
Tomorrow it’ll be a long walk with the dog I think. Or spinning.
I put some night cream on, and I am hitting the sack.
Well done everybody for looking after yourselves!

Sparklyring · 06/01/2020 23:15

I've got since NYD without any sweet treats at all... Havent gone this long in years!! Very determined though, and proud of myself. Still sticking with the squat Challenge, water and vits. Had no time off over xmas but off on wed so planning a bath, face mask, hair mask and nails.. after a lie in :-D

HundredMilesAnHour · 07/01/2020 09:15

I've now lost 9 pounds but hit a plateau again this morning. My stomach is looking much flatter though so that's good. I went to the gym twice yesterday - in the morning I did weights/strongman work and in the evening I did a HIIT class. I also walked 21k steps. Upped my calories to 1,350 to cover the exercise. That included a sneaky little chocolate mousse. Wink

Today's a rest day because I have job interviews at an investment bank. I'm dreading it. My head just isn't in the game at the moment. I'll have to get dressed up so it will be the first time in 2020 that I've put full make-up on and done my hair etc. And worn a dress!! And tights (urgh!) and court shoes (argh!). I have some beautiful antique Chinese earrings that I always wear for interviews so getting those out will be the highlight. I love jewellery but don't get much chance to wear it at the moment. Need to make more effort and get my jewellery out!

LlamaofDrama · 08/01/2020 13:04

It was all going so well... then DD had us up for a large part of the night being sick, and is now off school for 2 days. So no steps for me and I'm knackered today so no motivation either.

Bring on Friday...

Blimey Hundred that's an exercise schedule and a half! Good luck with the interview, I hope you rock it (I feel sure princesses rock).

Sparklyring · 08/01/2020 15:08

@HundredMilesAnHour Good luck with your interview! I'd love to see the antique chinese earrings :-D

BuddhaAtSea · 11/01/2020 07:47

The plan today is a much needed pedicure and face mask. I’ve got park run and a long walk with the dog, but the afternoon should be free.
My perfume bottle will finish today, I think, but I bought a new one in December.
I need to look into getting a new eyeliner and mascara, they’re a bit dry. I keep forgetting to use the nanolash I bought!
And I really need some new underwear, I’ve lost a stone in December.

Sparklyring · 12/01/2020 14:36

Hows everyone doing??

HundredMilesAnHour · 12/01/2020 16:37

Hi everyone, hope your princessing is going well still.

I'm happy today as I've now lost 13 pounds (since 30th Dec) despite eating lots of The Ginger Pig's lasagne and some Guinness cake this weekend. Admittedly I have done LOTS of exercise as well though.

I think the princessing is working as one of my gay male gym friends has told me two days in a row that I look "glowing". I think he's bonkers but I'm happy to accept the compliment.

No news about my job interview yet. They said I wouldn't hear for 10 days though. Must admit that I'm assuming it's a no but that's mainly to protect myself from being too upset when I get rejected. The job market in my field is dire right now so competition is way more fierce than usual (and it's usually pretty fierce!). Princessing is a good distraction for my fragile ego.

I've only done 11,000 steps today (plus an hour's HIIT class) but today is supposed to be a rest day for me as I usually volunteer in a wildlife hospital on Sundays. But no patients in ICU so I wasn't needed at the hospital hence the trip to the gym instead. Mainly so I could lust after my gym crush while burning calories. It's very hard to look attractive in skintight lycra while dripping sweat and panting but I'm doing my best. I wore a diamante headband to exercise in to bring out my princess side. Wink

BuddhaAtSea · 13/01/2020 06:16

😂 I like your style @HundredMilesAnHour!

Gym and running club for me today. I’ve been moisturising a bit more often and my skin feels better. I also bought pink dove soap, smells lovely but it also makes my skin softer, I like it!
Still no pedicure and I really need it! Hoping to do it today!

LlamaofDrama · 13/01/2020 09:45

I'm going to try to get going again this week! On the plus side after DD shared her bug all the weight I wanted to lose has gone. But I haven't exercised much and u don't think I can claim to glow Grin

Nails are looking better and I've put varnish on my toenails now so they've joined the princess party.

Nearly half way through... still time to get it back on track.

FuckingHateRats · 13/01/2020 21:36

I've just come on so feeling pretty bleaugh.

I've been trying hard to wear nice outfits and make sure I'm not always in the same stuff. Today: 'Miss! You look like a gladiator in that skirt!' :/ Maybe I'll stop.

Very much sticking to the skincare routine and water guzzling. Steps have been higher than they were at the end of last year but I could still do more. I'm scared to step on the scales ...

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/01/2020 23:03

It's been a few days so I'm just wondering how everyone is getting on? I'm hoping the silence isn't due to people falling off the princess wagon? Time to get back on ladies. Wink

I was a bit grumpy this morning as I put on a pound overnight despite eating sweet f.a. the day before. Wished I'd had the cake I'd been lusting over after all.

But today improved massively. I feel like I've had a proper princessing experience actually. I was invited to meet the designer behind an amazing new fashion label, and I spent 4 hours with her and her lovely team trying clothes on, getting styling advice and eating lunch. And then they gave me some beautiful clothes to keep! It really felt like Christmas and birthdays rolled into one. I feel like I've made a wonderful new friend actually and we've already been messaging since I got home.

(I should just say that this is NOT my normal life experience. Nothing like this has ever happened to be before. So WOW, just WOW WOW!)

Maybe I was euphoric after such an amazing day so I rushed home and then straight to the gym. And my gym crush was there. While we were speaking after our class, I don't know what came over me but I asked him out and he said YES! So we're going on a date this weekend. (I'm in shock I asked him, in more shock that he said yes and in even more shock worrying about the date).

So today is definitely a win. I'm still shell-shocked (but happy) and desperately drinking water now to hit my daily water target before I go to bed.

Inliverpool1 · 18/01/2020 09:13

How exciting ! Just goes to show doesn’t it what a little lift in confidence can do for a girl. The stars aligned themselves and now your life will change for the better ☺️

Sparklyring · 18/01/2020 09:57

Sounds like an amazing day!!

I'm still on it, religiously sticking to everything I set for myself. Only 3lb down, dh is 5 down!!! Feeling good though.

FuckingHateRats · 18/01/2020 19:48

HundredMiles that's amazing!!! How exciting :)

I need to get on it, diet wise. I am a bridesmaid in sept and really need to get my finger out. Monday I'll get on the scales and approach it with gusto.

Still drinking all the water, should probably drink less milky coffee... Keeping up the skincare routine. Today I took every single item out my wardrobe and tried it all on with a critical eye. A pile is gone and I love what's left. I got my nails done again today, I absolutely LOVE them.

January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?
BuddhaAtSea · 18/01/2020 22:32

Hello all!!!

I have kept up the exercise. And today for the first time since my work Christmas do, I actually wore something else but gym gear. I just realised I haven’t worn a dress in over a month, so I dressed up for my friends’ visit :)
Slowly but surely.
Tomorrow I’m going for a swim and a sauna :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/01/2020 22:41

Ahh

DH has booked our holiday so I will have to seriously start some improvements here .

I have bought A Dress ( I don't really wear them but I think they're more comfy and less brain taxing for summer) it's viscose and navy polka dot .

I should be ok for day time but I need to get some evening wear (plenty of time though)

I bought some face oil so I'm going to try that tonight ( its Revolution in the dark blue box) .

FuckingHateRats · 19/01/2020 10:14

Today is the day I start counting calories :/

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/01/2020 16:53

Sounds like everyone is doing well. @FuckingHateRats I love your nails! And good luck with the calorie counting. It isn't much fun but the results make it worthwhile.

I might have fallen off the princessing bandwagon today. Blush I had my first date with my gym crush earlier. We did a gym class together first and then went for (a lot of) coffee. When he arrived at the gym, he'd had his hair cut and shaved (usually he has 'designer stubble'). After the class he asked if I minded him taking a shower. And he'd brought normal clothes to change into.

By contrast, I didn't shower and I didn't bring a change of clothes. I just dried my sweaty hair, put more deodorant and perfume on and added some mascara, lip gloss and my (favourite) sweatshirt. So he definitely out-princessed me!!! I was a bit embarrassed. Blush I hadn't wanted to keep him waiting if I showered and changed etc hence my slovenly behaviour. (Plus I would have had a massive fashion crisis about what to wear). Despite this, I think (hope!) the date went really well so if I get a second chance with him, I'd better make sure I shower and put non-gym clothes on to try and salvage some sort of princessing status. If he doesn't want to go out with me again, I guess that will be punishment for not princessing!
