January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?

SparkleBead · 01/01/2020 10:08

Good morning and a Happy New Year!

I have thoroughly enjoyed overindulged myself this Christmas. I am usually very reigned in but I've let go to make the most of the festivities.

However I have put on 7lb (eek!) over the Christmas period, had late nights, hardly any fruit or veg or enough water etc.

Anyone else want to do a little January princessing to get the New Year off to a good start?

Daily basic list for me:

Drink 2 litres of water
Take multivitamins
No junk at all
Early nights.

End of Jan goal
To have lost the 7lb and feel healthier!

Would be good to have some company!

I’m up for it.
Drink more water.
No snacking at work.
Hair Cut.
Use olaplex before shampooing.
Moisturise my whole body.
I’m thinking of getting this hair cut for a bit of a change up.

I'm in!!!

Want to start actually making an effort wacko day rather than 'oh fuck it'

Hair done, not just shoved in a struggle bun on top of my head.

Makeup each day

Vitamins, eating better, losing weight. I need a complete overhaul really. I'm only 27 but I feel like I'm about 90 some days!

2020cominatcha · 01/01/2020 21:01

Place marking to come back tomorrow. I need to look after myself better so this is just what I'm after!

Starlive23 · 01/01/2020 21:02

I am in! Have not weighed myself over the festivities but have eaten way too much and not a jot of exercise, I can feel myself bloating.

I want to try to just cut out the bad food really, stick to healthy and try to exercise three to four times per week. It seems pretty doable apart from the fact that I just never seem to do it for very long!

FuckingHateRats · 01/01/2020 21:04

I have to order a bridesmaid dress at the end of the month so am defo in!

Would like to:
Lose 6lb
Drink all the water
Learn how to apply eye make up Hmm
Walk 10k every day

currentlyavailable · 01/01/2020 21:08

I'm in too.

I am also not drinking this month. Hate water with a passion but find hot water with a dash of lemon juice better. Going to swap my cups of tea for it!

mymadworld · 01/01/2020 21:12

I'm in Grin My main aim for January is to sort out a niggling injury and properly get my fitness back on track. I'm seeing a physio tomorrow and booked in for some PT sessions starting next week but otherwise I will commit to:

  1. Daily yoga. I follow Adriene on YouTube and she does a 30 day programme which I started today.
  1. Bedtime - get to bed by 11pm in the week. I always faff around and often end up being past midnight despite having to be up before 7am then look shattered and am short tempered.
  1. Keep off the ciggies - I was a social/occasional smoker but it started to increase to most evenings in the summer. Finally managed to stop completely and not touched one in 7 weeks Crown Grin
  1. Drink water. I'm terrible at this and some days barely drink a single glass so aiming for a modest but hopefully manageable 4 glasses (1.5l)
SparkleBead · 01/01/2020 21:35

Hello all new joiners! Hope we have all had a good day, achieving a few if not all of our personal daily goals!

I've done the water, the vitamins, stayed off junk food and am aiming to be asleep by 11. So not too bad for Day 1. I really need to tone up a bit though, so have ordered the Chloe Madeley book to try and do a few home workouts during the week. My hips need the most attention so that squat app looks good, but I've never done a squat in my life before (and it shows!) but I'll look it up and add it on to the daily list. Maybe 10 to start off with! Grin

LlamaofDrama · 01/01/2020 21:57

Also in! I've lost some weight but put a little back so there's a bit of weight loss to do... I need to exercise, I've been so tired I've done nothing for over 6 months, that should help me to lose weight and should tone up what's left.

Then I want to just be a bit more high maintenance. I'm going to get an IPL and keep on top of body hair, get some tanning drops and try to get a bit of a glow and take more care of my nails.

If I can do any of that I'll be winning. All of it would be amazing Grin

donkeyoatey · 01/01/2020 22:05

Yes, count me in.
I'll buy some multi vitamins tomorrow.
Sleep is a problem for me at the moment due to peri menopause.
Would like to do some yoga.
Finally learn how to do eye makeup.
Lose about 1 stone.

QueenOfCatan · 01/01/2020 22:07

Marking my place. My aim this year is to be healthier, I could do with some focus this month! So far I am doing adrienes 30 days of yoga and ensuring that I floss/brush for 2 minutes. I need to pamper myself a bit too though!

rainydogday · 01/01/2020 22:24

Forgot to add......do my pelvic floor exercises with the app every day. 😳

Marmaladegin · 01/01/2020 22:43

Meee!

  1. No alcohol this month.
  2. Squeeze pelvic floor app.
  3. Eat cleaner/ no snacking in front of Telly/ more raw food.
  4. Gently bicarb teeth weekly.
  5. Laser leg/bikini hair monthly.
  6. Weekly face mask.
  7. Perfect cg hair routine
ArabellaJane · 01/01/2020 23:01

Do the multivitamins actually work though? I always forget mine so just not sure whether to bother.

1 I'm currently whitening my teeth

  1. Wearing eye serum regularly
  2. Wearing Blistex at night
  3. Will get a waterpik flosser
  4. Subtle makeup daily rather than bare and tired
hiptobeasquare · 02/01/2020 06:28

Drank water this morning. Not had a great start breakfast wise. I ate a bowl of frosted wheats leftover from Christmas food shopping. Confused
I’ve got healthy snacks for work though and I’m going to walk in rather than taking the metro.

littleredlipstick · 02/01/2020 06:56

Started ok(ish) this morning had clothes already to go, put some make up on after skincare routine. Picked up breakfast and lunch I made last night from the fridge. Forgot my vitamins, so set a reminder for when I get home.

Cambionome · 02/01/2020 08:16

This thread has just reminded me to have a glass of water with breakfast!

ILookAtTheFloor · 02/01/2020 08:20

I've been princessing without even knowing it!

I've not had an alcoholic drink in 14 months. I've massively upped my water intake. I'm a skincare nut so my regime is solid there.

I've taken up yoga as running was too hard on my hypermobile joints. I always go to bed early. I've now got a gel nail kit and my finger and toenails look fab Grin not got a sweet tooth and I'm down to one caffinated coffee a day, with half a sugar. Black because I don't like milk. Any other hot drink--no sugar! I drink camomile tea at work.

Still to work on- Diet Coke, I still drink too much, sometimes 2 cans a day.

I need more healthy and quick lunch ideas, with lots of veg. Need to eat more veg.

I'm doing the 30 day splits challenge and stretching at least 15 mins daily- getting there!!

SparkleBead · 02/01/2020 08:43

Arabella I do think I look and feel better overall when I'm taking the vitamins very regularly, but then it's usually combined with taking better care of myself overall (more water, sleep etc) so hard to know exactly what their independent effect is! Grin However it all adds to the self-care, and I believe psychologically the more things you do to look after yourself, the more you then feel like doing other things, such as eating healthier. (Even if their effect is minimal, it can't be harmful).

2lb off this morning so that's a good start. Also I did teeth whitening and put some foot cream on last night.

Looking at the Philips Lumea. Think I might take the plunge on one of those! it's just finding the time to keep to a regular schedule with it. Anyone else used it successfully?

OP posts:
FuckingHateRats · 02/01/2020 09:04

Just up and about to walk down the beach to get breakfast with a friend. I will try have something vaguely healthy but I also now I'm going to walk there and back, and I'm going to play squash with my husband later so the exercise today is decent.

Going to actually do my hair and face before I leave instead of turning up like a mad scarecrow.

Ninjakittysmellz · 02/01/2020 09:19

It’s my birthday today so I am starting tomorrow, but I have just ordered a 3 day juice detox to arrive tomorrow so I can kick things off hardcore style!

I had a Phillips Lumea (my ex got custody when we split though sadly!) and it was genuinely life changing! I had to shave my whole body every day - armpits and legs twice a day if I wanted to go out on an evening, and I was literally down to shaving once a month towards the end. I need to get a new one as the effects do wear off, but it was incredible the difference it made to my life. Dooooo it!

FuckingHateRats · 02/01/2020 14:23

I haven't used the Lumea but I did pay for professional IPL last year and it's been a real game changer for me. I feel so much better for it.

Well, I went for my walk and ended up having two coffees, smoked salmon on sourdough toast and most of a slice of banoffie pie 😩. However I've drunk loads of water, have taken all my face off and heading to play squash so not all bad. Will offset this morning with soup for dinner and have skipped lunch.

Newyearnewmehopefully · 02/01/2020 15:37

ilookatthefloor what’s your skin care regime like? I definitely need to work on this!!

Also what do people mean when they say eat clean? I’ve decided to try and stop eating out for now.

SparkleBead · 02/01/2020 15:51

Happy Birthday ninjakitty!

I think I will get the Lumea. Been eyeing it up for a while. How long do you use it for per session? I think I would start with legs.

NewYear Clean eating (for me) means mainly salads, greens, pulses, nothing processed at all, definitely no sugar or bread etc. Lots of raw or steamed veg. Basically very fresh/healthy food that is as close to raw state as possible. I don't go that far personally but I will have salads and make veggie/vegan meals on cleaner days (also nothing processed).

Rats sounds like a good effort with the water and the squash playing. I've never played squash (though I'd like to try) but a little bit afraid of getting hit in the face Smile

Floridasunset · 02/01/2020 18:09

I've not been too bad today...made a smoothie for breakfast and took the children to the zoo so lots of walking. Definitely didn't drink enough water whilst I was there though.
I put on a little make up before I went as I'm trying to get in the mindset of looking after myself again
