January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?

SparkleBead · 01/01/2020 10:08

Good morning and a Happy New Year!

I have thoroughly enjoyed overindulged myself this Christmas. I am usually very reigned in but I've let go to make the most of the festivities.

However I have put on 7lb (eek!) over the Christmas period, had late nights, hardly any fruit or veg or enough water etc.

Anyone else want to do a little January princessing to get the New Year off to a good start?

Daily basic list for me:

Drink 2 litres of water
Take multivitamins
No junk at all
Early nights.

End of Jan goal
To have lost the 7lb and feel healthier!

Would be good to have some company!

Epic fail today - hardly drank any water and only managed a piece of toast all day until teatime. It was my first day back at work though and we desperately need a food shop.

I did manage to take my multivitamins last night and went to bed make-up free.

I've just placed a Gousto order for next week so 4 lovely healthy meals guaranteed next week.

Letthemysterybe · 02/01/2020 18:32

I’m in.

I would like to:

1: lose half a stone. I’m the heaviest that I have ever been and I would really like to lose a stone and a half this year.
2: eat no crap - no chocolate/puddings/crisps/unhealthy snacks/kids leftovers
3: do some exercise - run at least twice a week and cycle at least once.
4: look after my skin and hair.

BrotherlyLove · 02/01/2020 18:38

@SparkleBead The Chloe Madeley book, so you have to go to the gym for that?
She looks fab but I presume it's a gym workout for the weights etc, legs like that must come from a leg press thing?

HundredMilesAnHour · 02/01/2020 18:48

Today started badly for me today as my elderly pet passed away this morning.Sad So I used exercise (rather than cake and carbs!) to self-medicate and did 10km on the rower. Only managed 13,000 steps today though which is low for me. I just didn't feel like walking and wanted to come home and feel sorry for myself instead.

I've lost 7 pounds in 5 days so I can't grumble I guess. Lots of cauliflower/broccoli mash and Heck chicken sausages so it feels like comfort food but is actually quite healthy. I'm under my 1200 calorie/day limit so I'm going to have a little evening cheese snack.

Needed cheering up so treated myself to several pairs of silk knickers in the sale on Lilysilk. Just in case anything happens with my gym crush man. Blush They'll make me feel lovely at least.

Off for a face mask now followed by the aforementioned cheese (and last 2 glasses of water for the day) and an early night. I have an early start in the gym tomorrow. I'm determined to keep pushing hard before the motivation wears off.

  • 30 Day Squat Challenge Day 2 complete
  • 2 litres of water drank
  • 5 of my 5 a day
  • Nothing sweet
  • Berocca and Vit D had

Beauty wise I'm a beauty junkie so all my princessing is health related :-D

mymadworld · 02/01/2020 23:40

Just done day 2 of my 30 day yoga (although us no last year's as I can't find this year!) - better late than never and also added the 30 day squat. Diet not going no so well as I keep finding Christmas chocolates Blush

SparkleBead · 03/01/2020 08:21

Brotherly Chloe Madeley book is all at-home workouts. I know because I've had it before, a year ago, did three workouts and then lost the book Grin it's never turned up since! Perhaps it's in with the kids books somewhere. Can't find it anyway so have reordered it.

It doesn't require any extra equipment except a bit of space and a good pair of trainers and also, I could really feel the three workouts I did do, so I felt they would work long-term. There is a diet plan too but I think I would probably just follow my own diet plan anyway. The workouts are all different for toning, cardio etc. I thought it was a good book and she explains in pictures the moves very well so I felt confident I was doing it properly.

mymadworld I ripped the plaster off - I bundled all the leftover Christmas chocs and treats up and told DH to take them away! "Out of sight" works for me! Smile

@SparkleBead ooh which chloe Madeley book is it? I had no idea she had done so many! She looks incredible and you have sold it to me though if you think it’s good!

My juice detox is arriving today, so I am fasting till lunch time as that’s when the delivery is due Grin I feel so knackered and full of cold, am hoping this infuses me with vitamins and energy again. I’ve forgot what it feels like not to feel under the weather!

SparkleBead · 03/01/2020 10:15

ninja It's the 4 week Body Blitz (sorry can't do links). I know from the reviews it's hard to follow it completely to the letter (but great results if you can!) I am just intending to pick workouts to do every other day or every third day on the basis that something is better than nothing! Grin

OP posts:
Ninjakittysmellz · 03/01/2020 10:24

Ooh fab, thank you! I have just ordered it! I’m going to try have the same approach as you - if I can be ‘good’ even 75% of the time that’s a huge improvement on my current zero! It arrives tomorrow so will give it a try Flowers

Ohyesiam · 03/01/2020 10:39

I feel like my whole torso is stuffed with food from 2 weeks of indulgence! My favourite skinnies are uncomfortable, and I’m permanently in yoga pants.
I’ve got that thing where my body expects more food because it’s been getting it. I need to get over the hump and back to normal food levels.

My goals:

No sugar - my life gets easier if I don’t have sugar

Minimal carbs

Three meals a day no snacks

Get back on my exercise regime after Christmas break

I’m going to look at the 30 day squats app too

Thanks for setting this up op, I’ve been rumbling round trying to avoid it. I know I’ll feel better if i I do.

LlamaofDrama · 03/01/2020 12:45

I'm starting gradually as I'm still feeling the after effects of the obligatory winter cold.

Mostly so far I've shopped 😁. I've bought the tanning drops and will start experimenting tomorrow. I've also stocked up on slimfast which is my weight loss weapon of choice. I started properly yesterday, weighed myself, concluded that 2lbs have to go and 4lbs should go, and stick to it yesterday. So far so good today.

Exercise will restart soon...

FuckingHateRats · 03/01/2020 12:49

Sorry to hear your sad news HundredMiles

I had a nail appt today which makes me feel much better anyway. Have had a bowl of soup and half a slice of bread. Going for a big blustery walk down the beach with the kids so will try reach my 10k steps that way. Will probably stop for a coffee but will have lots of water too. Planning a healthy tea and no snacking afterwards.

I might do a Sh'bam workout later, if my legs can handle it!

FuckingHateRats · 03/01/2020 12:49

Just because I want to share... My nails 💕

January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?
Makegoodchoices · 03/01/2020 12:55

Started mine with clear nail polish and mini pedicure which made me feel better.
Got 22lbs to lose.
Need to drink way more water. My skin is hating the heating and I think more water will help.
Did a 25 min workout this morning.
Took a probiotic.

SparkleBead · 03/01/2020 14:43

Sorry HundredMiles, I missed your sad news Sad. I have felt that heartbreak myself. Flowers It's very hard.

Day 3 is going good. Vitamins, water intake, reasonable sleep, no junk all checked off. Another pound down (first week is half water weight, "they" say, I don't care, as long as the scales are going down! Grin Oddly enough I think the increased water I'm drinking is helping it along. Have ordered some of that The Ordinary Retinol stuff, plus primer and moisturiser. At least, if it doesn't suit it wasn't hugely expensive. I bought some CT Magic Cream at Christmas but it seemed to make my eyes water a lot [wahh!) Shame as I thought it had a nice effect.

@HundredMilesAnHour sorry about your pet :(
Well done everybody for keeping up with the self care:)

I walked into town with the dog, just for kicks and I stopped at my brow bar to ask if it’s ok if I ever come in with the dog. And she was like: oh, come in, not an issue! So I went in and had my tash and eyebrows done.
I need to be mum for a bit, then so can do my manicure.

SparkleBead · 03/01/2020 18:10

Rats Nails look amazing! Love that zingy turquoise and silver together.

Buddha that's what I call multitasking! Exercise, dog walking and beauty tasks crossed off the list in one go!

Llama I find Slimfast very useful in short bursts of a week or so. Some of the shakes are nice. I like the strawberry, banana and chocolate ones.

I have tanning drops too - is it Clarins? I think they are fab.

OP posts:
LlamaofDrama · 04/01/2020 09:35

Sparkle not Clarins, I got them from Superdrug. Woke up this morning to the certain knowledge that I'd either see no change or be orange... I think it's nearer the former which gives me some space to adjust Grin.

I have my own fancy Slimfast combo - a shot of espresso which I put in the freezer for as long as possible, topped up to the rest of the liquid with milk. 1 scoop of chocolate, 1 of caffe latte and a tsp of cacao powder. Tastes fab, seems to do the trick.

I went for a good long walk yesterday and wrote a plan to fit more into my week. I like a list and a plan so hopefully I'll stick to it. 1.75 lbs off by this morning so feeling positive! It's the exercise I'll find hardest because I'm a lazy arse.

Good luck everyone, keep it up!

Ninjakittysmellz · 04/01/2020 11:14

Today I started with the juice detox, and have taken my vitamins. I fake tanned last night too, and have been taking my make up off religiously. Aiming for 2 litres water on top of the juice, and no food. Weighed myself this morning and it’s terrified me!

In terms of accountability, I’ve created a new instagram account with no followers so I can upload photos of my progress, what I eat, the scales etc.... I feel like I need somewhere to put them other then just my camera roll!

HundredMilesAnHour · 04/01/2020 15:56

My weight loss plateau'ed today for the first time since I started 6 days ago. I guess it's to be expected though given that I've lost 7 pounds. Wanting to keep losing at this rate is greedy of me - and unrealistic. Blush

I did an hour's bootcamp at the gym this morning (plus the same last night as well as an hour with my personal trainer followed by 30 mins cardio yesterday morning). It was a tough session today but I think some of that is the impact of 1200 calories/day hitting me. I literally had nothing left in the tank. I knew this would happen so from today I'm upping my calories to 1400 to cope with the amount of exercise I'm doing. I'm happy though as I had a lovely chat with my gym crush and I'll see him again tomorrow. He doesn't speak to anyone other than me (whereas I'm a bit of a floozy as I was hugging various sweaty fit men who I hadn't seen since last year....just keeping my crush on his toes Wink). I feel like a teenager crushing on someone like this.

After the gym, I walked to Shoreditch and had my brows done. First time in a couple of years. They look amazing! I feel so much better and much more presentable. I can definitely recommend Arch Shoreditch if any of you are in London. Then I walked to the park to the feed the squirrels. Definitely good for my mental health!

Now I'm home for a quiet evening on the sofa watching TV and cuddling with my remaining pet (who is very confused about why his brother has disappeared Sad). Early night for me but I'll do a full body moisturise before I go to bed (I do it every night) and slap a treatment on my hair (which I then put a silk hair wrap over) and oil on my cuticles. I have some lovely silk pillowcases and an aroma diffuser next to my bed so bedtime always feels very luxurious and pampering. Small wins Smile

In the meantime, all I can think about is damn I'm hungry!!! So I just drink more water. Which means I'm hungry and pee a lot. Wink

Letthemysterybe · 04/01/2020 16:49

I’m trying hard to resist all the sweet stuff that is still in the house. Ive not been 100% successful! But at least I’ve cut down and I’ve not been drinking, and I’ve lost 3 pounds so far.

FuckingHateRats · 04/01/2020 17:24

Oh today has been as far from Princess as it could be :/

I've spend most of it doing a puzzle with my hair scraped back, no make up, did no exercise.

Now swigging Bailey's from a tumbler and regret nothing. Back to it tomorrow.

SparkleBead · 04/01/2020 19:09

Llama I got given the Clarins ones as a gift and it's lasted me for ages, but I only do them every few days. It's a nice colour. Will take a look at the Superdrug when it runs out! 1.75lb off is excellent progress!

Ninja good idea about setting up an account just to chart personal progress. I haven't thought of that before. How have you got on with the juice detox, is it something you add to water?

Hundred 7lb in 6 days is brilliant, it's very encouraging when the scales go down rapidly. I usually plateau at the same stage but if you can push on through you'll get to 10lb before you know it. Sounds like a good day's princessing especially under the circumstances x

Letthemystery 3lb off is great!

Rats I am VERY tempted to dig out the Christmas Baileys too, I love the stuff Grin I love the no regrets attitude though. Sometimes you have to know when to give in a little.
