Opinions on engagement ring...To resize or not!!!!

Hi there,

Just looking for opinions on my replacement engagement ring as I'm starting to obsess!!! So I'll start at the beginning, I somehow managed to take a chunk out of the diamond in my old engagement ring so luckily we had it insured and we got our our money through and we decided to put a little to it and upgrade slightly so choose my new replacement princess cut engagement ring. We have been married for 13 years and have to children so I already have my wedding and and an eternity ring.

My old engagement ring was an I 1/2, I have small fingers with bigger knuckles. My wedding ring and eternity ring are both a size J. So when ordering my new ring I ordered an I 1/2 but the problem now is that at certain points in the day it feels really quite tight and my fingers bulge a little, it's is also tight getting it on in the mornings (I take my rings off every night) but then at other times usually later in the day or when cooler it fits perfectly and even spins a little. My old ring was a different band style and slightly narrower.

So my dilemma is whether or not to go up a quarter of a size to an I 3/4 or just leave it. I know I don't want it at a J as my other 2 rings are a J and they do spin when my hands are smaller but they don't bother me much as they are flat but I really don't want my new ring to be to big and the diamond spinning all the time but also don't like it when it feels tight!!!

The first photo was this morning when it felt tight and the second was this afternoon and felt perfect.

Thank you to anyone who has actually got to the end of this post, sorry for rambling on....decision making is not one of my strong points!!!! smile Any opinions ladies on wearing your rings slightly to big or slightly to small?! What do u prefer?

I think get it resized. Your finger looks uncomfortable l think.

I wear my maternity on my right and only my engagement on my left. My wedding band is only for special occasions as it is quite blingy alongside the engagement ring.

Would you consider making the band of your engagement ring quite a bit more narrow? I think it's looking squished as you have three fairly wide bands next to one another. That would also be less likely to feel tight as a narrower band doesn't constrict your finger in the same way.

If you are wanting to keep the engagement ring on the outside of the three then I personally wouldn't make the ring size larger, as it's more likely to slip off in cold weather.

I like it with your engagement ring closest to your nail. I think your rings look beautiful, and in those photos they don't look tight at all. I still vote don't resize just yet!

So do I @Tryingtogetitright, Its so hard to make a decision as my fingers seem to fluctuate in size massively throughout the day and I love the look in the 2nd pic when my fingers arent swollen and wouldn't want to go bigger when they're like that as think it would keep spinning but also dont like when they feel tight and look squashed in the morning and when my hands are hot. Think I will hold fire for now and keep pondering!!! 🤔

Strangely, at about the time you posted, I was at the hairdressers and was swapping my rings around to see how they looked!

I'd be worried about sizing up on the engagement ring, especially if wearing it after wedding & eternity rings, in case I lost it.

I much prefer the engagement ring in the middle-that’s how I wear mine.

I have to though as mine are all size i which is probably too big and the diamond one spins unless it’s between the others!

As the weather's getting colder don't resize yet. See how you feel when it starts warming up in spring/summer. Bet your finger has acclimatised by then. My engagement ring is 1/2 size smaller than I would have chosen (it used to graze my knuckle getting it on and off) but over time I've got used to it and it fits perfectly now. A struggle to get it on/off at times, I just pop some handcream on to help it slip.

I think just the engagement ring and eternity ring would look wonderful together. They are beautiful rings!

My wedding ring is just like your eternity ring and I chose it over a plain band so that I wouldn't have to wear my engagement ring all the time, but would still have a bit of sparkle.

Anyway op I said in my earlier post that I do y like 3 rings all squashed together but I didn’t mean yours. Yours look lovely on the second pic, just too tight on the first which is what you said

@EmGee I had thought about that and it does look nice but just not sure if it feels right to me not to wear my actual wedding ring if u know what I mean.

Maybe I'm just not used to my engagement ring in the middle as it doesn't look right to me but will try it out to see if it grows on me!!!!

@Fruity77 it was something along the lines of how her ring is bigger than my arse, my name sounds like a horse name. And we’re all hateful bitches, who don’t care about the planet. And if we told her how to upload pictures, like she’d asked, she could put us all to shame. But she doesn’t know how to upload pictures and nobody will help her.
