GlossyBox Advent Calendar 2019

Who has ordered one?
It just went on general release today. Not bad at £80 for non-subscribers, and worth over £370. Lots of different products. Quite makeup heavy but I’d use most of it.

Anyone else?

I’m pleased with today’s, cute bottle too

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 14:21

Today’s perfume is really lovely- my mum is enjoying it. Bottle is so cute and perfect for a stocking filler if you want to gift it (I’m a sucker for mini perfumes!)

Writersblock2 · 02/12/2019 14:54

Cute bottle but it’s not even 3pm and the scent has definitely gone. Still, I’ll wnjoy using it.

That's odd. I can still smell mine faintly. Obviously different skin.

CountryCob · 02/12/2019 22:44

Hello all, I liked the perfume - pretty bottle and different to what I normally go for, enjoying this advent calendar so far

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 02/12/2019 23:04

It's a nice size perfume and also not a heavy perfume either - It reminds me of somethign but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Not a fan of the bottle however, the lid is making me a bit nervous that if it ended up laid down that it'd leak because it just constantly goes round and round and round

Butterymuffin · 03/12/2019 08:04

Hmm, bit disappointed with today's. Not an exciting item, however 'exclusive' it might be!

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 03/12/2019 08:10

Meh, today feels a bit like a filler - like when you get generic bath bombs or nail files in cheaper calendars. If you don't have lots of these sponges already you probably don't like them or use something else.

whyamidoingthis · 03/12/2019 08:49

Yes, that's exactly my thought too. I don't use makeup sponges. My daughter does though, so I guess it has a home at least.

whyamidoingthis · 03/12/2019 09:23

Not a fan of the bottle however, the lid is making me a bit nervous that if it ended up laid down that it'd leak because it just constantly goes round and round and round

But at least you didn't spend ages pressing the lid because you were convinced there was a hole in it and therefore it was a spray. I was also wondering why there wasn't a lid but assumed it was because it was a sample size.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 03/12/2019 10:55

Grin I did spend an inordinate amount of time turning the lid trying to make it seal tightly though (because the neck of the bottle has screw marks!)

Writersblock2 · 03/12/2019 11:20

Not impressed with the beauty sponge. Definitely feels like filler. Try harder next time! Confused

I did eventually discover that turning the lid by 90 degrees makes it very easy to take off as I had been struggling to pull it off, once I finally realised it wasn't a spray.

Do you think I should hand back my engineering degrees? I obviously received them under false pretences if I can't even figure out how to open/use a bottle of perfume.

whyamidoingthis · 03/12/2019 13:24

Just realised that the reveals on their website work on Chrome. They don't work on safari (not sure about other browsers), which is why I couldn't see them.

There is a tutorial for the day 1 eye palette, which, if like me, your eyeshadow putting on abilities are a bit lacking in imagination.

SymphonyofShadows · 03/12/2019 13:56

I’ll use the sponge but I’m not excited about it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 03/12/2019 13:58

DD sending me a reveal every day from Uni.

She is loving it although perfume bottle yesterday flummoxed her a bit...

packing lovely-def a big hit although it is only day 3 Grin

although perfume bottle yesterday flummoxed her a bit...

Oh good. At least that means I'm not the only one.

CountryCob · 04/12/2019 05:28

Yes I spent some time with the bottle lid too! Trying new beauty blender today and the lip product in mystic - did we all get the same colour? It is one I would have gone for so happy with that

Writersblock2 · 04/12/2019 07:15

I got mystic too. Very happy with this pencil. I’ll definitely be using it.

Me too, very happy with the pencil. I’ve started using them a bit more.

Writersblock2 · 04/12/2019 08:01

Wearing the pencil on lips and cheeks! Very good work colour. Though I accidentally left a mystic kiss on the dog’s cheek on the way out the door. Grin

whyamidoingthis · 04/12/2019 08:35

Mystic here too.

I'm wearing it on my lips today and am pleased with it. I have no idea how to use it on my cheeks (I've only ever used powder blusher), so any pointers would be welcome.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 04/12/2019 09:44

Grin poor doggy ;)

I got Mystic too - I haven't heard of this brand either but the colour looks nice.

I'd assume you'd 'draw' a little bit on your cheeks and then use the warmth of your fingers and cheeks rub it gently? (I'm like you, when i used it it was powder)

Nudestix Lip and Cheek Pencil in Mystic

CountryCob · 04/12/2019 17:07

I agree good work colour am happy with it, just drew a tiny line on apple of cheek and rubbed it in but forgot about it until last minute and already had a peach blusher on so was more of a highlight. Sadly as have aged - 40 next year have noticed that too much blusher makes me look a bit like aunt sally.....

Writersblock2 · 04/12/2019 17:08

Yes, just draw on a bit and rub in. It melts quite nicely.

I found on my lips it didn’t have much staying power but then, so many don’t. I still rather like it.
