Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

I've ended up caving in and getting the Space NK gift with purchase. The sample sizes are quite small but the bracelet is absolutely beautiful imo and would may a lovely gift for someone it's really nicely presented in a gift box too. You also get a £25 voucher and going to use mine towards buying some more of the Bum Bum cream which I have fallen in love with!

Ive got the Debenhams calendar but wont get my hands on it until end of November. M&S doesn't excite me and I missed out on LF, JL is too pricey for what it is and Liberty is too high end. Ive just found Elle and it looks amazing - does anyone have any ideas on how to get it at a slightly lower rate????

thanks

Alicatz66 · 12/11/2019 09:34

I've got Look Fantastic and M&S .... very excited !!!!!

OldGrinch · 12/11/2019 10:45

Some of them will be for sale on Black Friday at a lower rate. Last year got £25% off the John Lewis one. We have to keep an eye out for the reductions!!

OldGrinch · 12/11/2019 10:47

Black Friday 29th November this year

Sammi38 · 12/11/2019 11:37

My space NK party favours kit arrived yesterday, had a play with some of them last night, must say I’m quite impressed. The bracelet is lovely, very understated, I was going to give it as a present as it comes in a lovely gift box, but I may keep it for myself now! Also, the kiehls vitamin c serum with hyaloronic acid is very nice, quite velvety when it is applied, not sticky at all, like some vit c serums.

I bought the vintners daughter serum and some Charlotte tilbury make up, very impressed with the pillow talk lip kit, the pencil really does make your lips look fuller, but still natural. I’ve heard good things about the serum, and it wasn’t cheap so I’m hoping it does the job I need it to.

If there are any Molton Brown fans, TKMaxx have a calendar for £120. It's different packaging to the ones I've seen elsewhere so might be last years but it's a third cheaper.

Sammi38 · 12/11/2019 13:49

I’ve ordered the arran calendar, it was £40 with the 20% discount code that somebody mentioned in this thread, free postage too, And also the rituals one, as I do like body treats as well as face ones. Thank you to whoever posted about arran, I’d never heard of them but the calendar contents sound lovely.

RenardeRenarde · 12/11/2019 18:52

Elle have announced their advent calendar will be on offer for Black Friday (haven’t said what the offer will be yet..) and Harper’s beauty box will be 30% off. I’m going to sit on my hands until then, Im sure some others that haven’t sold out yet will be discounted on BF, I’m keeping my eye on John Lewis and Charlotte Tilbury because they don’t seem to have shifted very quickly and I’m hoping they’ll need to offload them.

notangelinajolie · 12/11/2019 19:50

It's going to be £75.
I found a link but it's not live yet.

ajandjjmum · 12/11/2019 20:03

Interested in all of those - will keep my eye on this thread, as you're all so on the ball! Thank you.

OldGrinch · 12/11/2019 20:20

Can anyone provide a link to the Aaron calander please? Thanks x

Caggie09 · 12/11/2019 20:41

arran.com/products/arran-advent-calendar-2019 @OldGrinch 😊

midnightmisssuki · 12/11/2019 20:58

What did everyone think of the space NK one? Better than the Liberty One?

traveladdictsarah · 12/11/2019 21:02

I found it so hard to pick but went for Space NK over Liberty. I do think the Liberty one is more Christmassy

midnightmisssuki · 12/11/2019 21:14

Space NK look like its better value for money I think - but agree, Liberty more Christmassy!

TattiePants · 12/11/2019 22:06

Thanks to this thread I may have become a bit addicted to beauty advent calendar unboxing videos on youtube! I've just come across the The Beauty Expert calendar which I've never heard of. It's only 12 days but contains 12 FULL SIZED products including Elemis Pro-collagen night cream which I was desperate to try having just bought the Elemis QVC TSV. The calendar is £100 but there's 20% off using the code 'LADYWRITESXMAS'. There's also 13% cash back through Top Cash Back making it £70. The Elemis cream alone is £90.

I'm going to get this as a Christmas present from DMIL instead of using it as a calendar.

UpToonGirl · 12/11/2019 22:29

I wasn't tempted by the Liberty calendar this year, SpaceNK doing the GWP tipped me to buying that one. It did also have a couple of makeup products which I had been considering - I won't say which ones as I don't want to spoil it for anyone!

I will say I think one of the reasons the calendars had lost their appeal this year (aside from being crazy money) is that because they are so pricey I feel like I need to know whats inside all of the calendars I'm considering and go back and forth comparing. The first and second year they were a thing I did have a peek at the contents before buying but I didn't feel the need to scrutinise them so much as it was less of a risk. I think the first M&S one was about £25 and LookFantastic was £70ish so I was more confident about taking a gamble. Now you're talking about £200 plus it's a lot of money to potentially waste if at least 80% of the products don't appeal.

notangelinajolie · 12/11/2019 22:38

PRICE ALERT!

I just bought Birchbox for £44.80

It's just been reduced from £70 to £56 and if you use the discount code FROZEN they will knock another 20% off Smile

I'm not a member so VIP members may be able to get even more off.

plightofthealbatross · 12/11/2019 22:49

I have caved and ordered the Arran calendar, too. Looks absolutely lovely and has good reviews, lots of nice collections to try, and at £40 (using the 20% code someone posted, and free shipping), that means each item comes in at about £1.70 each.

plightofthealbatross · 12/11/2019 22:55

Ooohhhh... Birchbox is so pretty. And for that price !

TattiePants · 12/11/2019 22:58

@UpToonGirl I've been exactly the same, comparing the products in each calendar before I buy. I've only considered calendars that have a lot of products/brands that I either use already or would be willing to buy anyway. It takes away the surprise but at least I won't be disappointed!

Sammi38 · 12/11/2019 23:16

Thanks for the Birchbox tip. Have just ordered one for my 16 year old dd, she will be made up with the products!

notangelinajolie · 12/11/2019 23:39

I have also been over analysing getting obsessed the contents.

Tattie - ladywrites seems genuine, unlike some of the beauty vloggers who irritate the hell out of me and I've been watching her advent calendar unboxings.

I'm almost decided on Elle for DD2 but I keep going back to look at the JL one.

OldGrinch · 13/11/2019 00:01

@Caggie09 Thank you Smile
