WWW's 6 week 10 year younger plan WEEK 1 with renewed summer vigour Aug - Sept, 2 weeks into term

WideWebWitch · 05/08/2007 20:50

Hello! This is week one of the SEVENTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

( how did that happen?)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, especially in this heat
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Here's mine:
I want to be a size I'm happier with by ds's tenth birthday, which is 2 months away. I want to not want to cry when I see the photos.

I've just been nosing at everyone's photo's. ts is indeed only about 18yo and it is therefore scandalous that she already has 3 stunning DCs, not to mention chickens. Arfishy - you're very gorgeous (but stay on bootcamp anyway please)! And how big is that chicken pen?

I made quinoa as part of lunch today, practically carb-free whilst being very carby to eat - like couscous but more rustic. Cooked it in chicken stock and mixed in some roasted onion, peppers & courgette. Fab. Also had lots of enormous prawns with the plum dipping sauce I made last night. Also fab. DCs ate tons of it all

Haven't been running since Monday . My knees have ached a lot this week so having a rest is probably best. We're all going swimming at the neighbours tomorrow so will be in for a couple of hours. Bliss.

yoyo · 10/08/2007 20:40

Oh my, what a day! Borough Market is fantastic. We spend a fortune every time we go there and are seduced by everything (cheese in particular). I cannot begin to confess what I have eaten today as I think it would look physically impossible in words. Have had a huge supper of, well, cheese, and wine and pudding wine...

Enjoyed lounging in the deckchairs outside the National Theatre and managed to get my eyebrows done at Blink. Walked lots but failed on every other count.

Am going to fall asleep on the sofa very soon. DH dropping very loud hints about GETTING THE CHILDREN TO BED.

8th of September is not possible for me I know already
But am keen to join in otherwise
You all sound as though you are having lovely evenings. I have some catching up to do - I fell asleep with dd and am all stiff with sticky-up hair
Yoyo, what a golden day

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 22:25

Will look at the other thread later www - thanks for all your input on there!

I love the gossip on here - it's my 'mini-mumsnet'! Sometimes I hide on here away from the rest of the board (when it's too loopy for words!).

arfishy · 11/08/2007 03:56

Food so far (non-WWW plan)

Eggs Benedict on turkish (yum)
Freshly squeezed orange juice
4 cups of Earl Gray

Am just off to eat something bad for lunch. I expect it will also involve wine. Fab.

Exercise? Hmm. Took DD to ballet and swimming. That's about my lot. Am just about to walk sloooowly to a beachside restaurant. That'll do the trick.

Do have sunscreen tho. And a particularly nice clarins face cream. For mature skin . Should never have told the clarins woman how old I am.

arfishy, was the Clarins lady about 21 and radiant? I have their cream for old lady hands and have toyed with pretending any other purchases are for my teenage niece in consequence
TS, I know what you mean. This is not just any bootcamp, this is a Mumsnet bootcamp
I have day from hell in store.
Shopping with dd for her party next weekend, then taking her to screechfest in the park with lots of other little darlings this afternoon.
Dh is decontaminating our swampy sandpit though, so it's fun fun fun here!

Oh, I wish sobernow.
No, it is lots of four year olds in a local park.
I think dino was thinking about Underage, it's local to her IIRC

WideWebWitch · 11/08/2007 08:40

lol at this is a mumsnet bootcamp
Poor you Marina, re screechfest, what is it? I find the older I get the more I am turning into my dad who found loud noise intolerable and would make gestures to bar staff that involved pointing at a speaker, grimacing and making a hand movement that indicated turning down a radio.

Arfy, how lovely, strollign to a beachside restaurant. Commiserations on clarins lady.

Sobernow, blimey, that's some wild night there missus

Batters, I can't do the 20th or 27th Oct, half term week, nor the 6th as ds's party may be that we so I vote for November. Is that too far away? I think I'll still look too shit to meet any new people in Sept

I caught the end of Grumpy Old Women last night and Arabella Weir was saying that with advancing years she has to have everything silent and just so at bedtime (own pillows, blackout curtains, tsking like fury at neighbour four doors down dropping car keys on pavement at 10pm etc) I relate to that !
Am only tolerant of my own noise now, the iPod is a wonderful thing.
It's a park party I was asked to help organise and really couldn't commit to (mum had just had heart attack) so I kind of feel shifty about going along IYSWIM

Marina, lol at "This is not just any bootcamp, this is a Mumsnet bootcamp"

at arfy, sympathies sobernow (I know that feeling of being cheated out of grownup time).

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

I am about to do my toning exercises. Have run out of cleanser, & p&p this morning.
This thread costs me a fortune

legalalien · 11/08/2007 10:35

well, drank 3 glasses of wine instead of planned 2, but not my fault as friend took me for a quick "sneak out of work extremely early pre-birthday snifter". Otherwise, v proud as didn't have Friday night takeaways (but did have TV junk equivalent

motherinferior · 11/08/2007 11:23

My name is Motherinferior and I am a technophobe, so can someone please give me an Idiot's Guide to Ipods, as I suspect it's time I got one or some sort of MB3 player anyway (as am not working at home playing music out of the computer for three of my four working days) please? Assume I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...

But, but but but, I would like to put it on record that:

  1. I drank NO BOOZE last night
  2. I got up at 7.30 and swam 60 lengths enhanced by my webbed gloves.

I do not wish to go into the details of precisely what I ate last night, nor the two pancakes with maple syrup I consumed on my return from the pool (I was starving and panicking over letter from Inland Revenue - DP forced me to sit at the table as I reached a screeching crescendo - worthy of any four year old - of 'They'll take me to coooourrtt!' - yeah, right, over one overdue form, I don't think so, and it's my accountants' fault anyway).

They Enhance the Water Pressure, Pruners. Thus making it all a lot harder work. And in theory helping decrease the flobbliwobbliness of my arms.

My best mate has just reminded me she is taking six months to go travelling when she takes voluntary redundancy from her High Powered And Also Very Socially Useful Job. She'll be in Australia for Christmas. How sad and empty the lives of people without children are, eh

WideWebWitch · 11/08/2007 11:34

No idea about ipods (the grumpy old women show pronounced them as i pods with the i as in chips, haha) as I don't like music but don't worry about IR, they're all cuddly and customer friendly these days, gone are the days when they could take you into a grey room in a grey building and give you a kicking, don't panic, honestly. And I used to be thrown into absolute PANIC at the sight of an IR envelope too, was self employed for ages and it always meant a terrifying tax bill. So, worry ye not (hmm, maybe quoting Ken Dodd not best on subject of tax

legalalien, try the inside of your elbow if you just want to see what colour it goes. Well done on moderate wine intake! Happy Birthday too, how old?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/08/2007 16:37

MI - you must be bloody fit to do that much swimming. I swam about 20 lengths of a small pool this afternoon and I feel all stretched out and I'm exhausted. I don't have webbed gloves they may impede my steering of DD2 in her Floaties-sit-in-thing.

Have eaten very sensibly last couple of days but this is a BBQ ALERT. With WINE. But I may run this evening, if I get DCs to bed early enough, as compensation.

I would love to get to the meet-up but Autumn is seriously busy here with DD1 & DD2 birthdays, plus most of their friends birthdays (Christmas Shag Syndrome).
