WWW's 6 week 10 year younger plan WEEK 1 with renewed summer vigour Aug - Sept, 2 weeks into term

Hello! This is week one of the SEVENTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

( how did that happen?)

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a resuklt. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, especially in this heat
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Anyone who feels like it, post how you've been feeling since doing this and why you want to keep doing it. Add what you want to achieve at the end of it too if you want to.

Here's mine:
I want to be a size I'm happier with by ds's tenth birthday, which is 2 months away. I want to not want to cry when I see the photos.

LOLOL at the poor disillusioned playworker batters, bless him. Will go and find that thread now

arfishy · 10/08/2007 13:27

Yes it is 9 hours atm. When the clocks change again it will go to 11 hours (you go back, we go forward, so +2hrs). Not sure about NZ though, aren't they +1 from Sydney?

Tortoiseshell - thanks for the violin info. I'm not really musical tbh although I'm quite good on the mathematics of music . I'm pleased your DS has had a good experience at the same age. DD does get very cross if she doesn't master things immediately though, so I hope she doesn't get put off if it's difficult.

I am at your chickens. I WILL have chickens. Mark my words.

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 13:28

pmsl @ batters' playworker!!!

Marina · 10/08/2007 13:29

Can't think who he has had to shriek at either, can you torty
She didn't take him a rat as a present did she batters?

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 13:30

arfishy - violin is good for mathematical children - it's very logical. And to begin with they don't use the bow, which is by far the trickiest bit I think.

I love my chickens - we don't have a very big garden, but they slot down one side - have a look at my blog if you want to see more pics!!!

Batters - you are too kind!

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 13:30

can't imagine marina!

Marina · 10/08/2007 13:31

Dd is on and on at us to get some tortoiseshell. A classmate has some, plus a teacher, and then she saw your pics. I just don't think we are at home enough to keep them company and deter foxes

legalalien · 10/08/2007 13:34

arfishy - +2 for godzone.

I have a close friend who negotiated the contracts for the initial 3G network roll out for one of the UK operators. Whenever she went home to NZ, people would ask her whether she could show them how to work their mobile handsets.

And in a former life I spent a LOT of time negotiating interconnection agreements, and number portability agreements, and ........

legalalien · 10/08/2007 13:38

batters - know nothing about coeliac disease, but will ask wife of friend who has it. she definitely used to shop at sainsburys.

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 13:39

You could get an eglu marina - they are supposed to be fox proof! As long as you have more than 1 chicken they don't get lonely (and actually although ours are really friendly, they're more relaxed when we're not in the garden, because when we're in the garden they are always chasing us in the hope of food!!!).

It's not too hard to make the runs foxproof actually - you just need to make sure they can't open the coop (get a decent catch) or dig underneath (we've put it on concrete).

Feeling persuaded? They're much easier than lots of other pets - you can leave them for 3 days or so and they'll look after themselves!

TS - I love your chicken blog. I am so . How are cats and chickens btw? Are you worried at all about neighbourhood cats?

.

tortoiseSHELL · 10/08/2007 14:31

Not worried about cats - I think they can coexist quite happily - the chickens are HUGE - easily the size of a cat, and the cats can't actually get to them, as if we're not in the garden they're safely locked in.

winnie · 10/08/2007 14:40

Batters, I know that feeling about not having been able to get into Boden clothes.
Well done you You deserve a star

One of the things I love about this thread is that it is much more than a 'style' thread. I am sure the gossip and news that we all share must be very beneficial to the mental health of each and everyone of us. Sharing is VERY theraputic

mabel1973 · 10/08/2007 14:59

You weren't wrong about the gossiping ...i can't keep up with this....I currently have DS2 crawling round with smelly bum and am putting it off just to get on here.
TS - we have chickens too. we leave ours out all day they just pop them selves back in their pen at bedtime as the sun goes down usually and we have 3 cats, the cats are a bit scared of them though and stay well away. We did have an escapee yesterday though who got through the hedge into next doors garden while i was out, i don't think neighbour was too impressed..oops!
Does anyone have a remedy for 'knee callouses' caused by spending too much time crawling round after small children, I have tried Flexitol, loofahs etc. but they are still there and i am worried i have no chance of looking 10 YY with old knees!

rosmerta · 10/08/2007 15:00

I agree Winnie, gossip forms part of 'be happy'

WideWebWitch · 10/08/2007 15:10

lol at M&S shopping back Arfy and lol at playworker batters, ha ha ha ha.
Wow at Boden Batters, that's fab news! They are NOT big sizes or anything, def not. Monsoon otoh...

Gossip and chat is VERY important to your mental well being you know everyone, I agree, we must keep it up And this is deliberately in 'style' rather than health too, in keeping with the aims etc.

Knee calouses? My remedy would be to not crawl on the floor at all
