I'd take a nice pair sandals for wearing in the evening etc, flip flops (will suit Devon as well) and a pair of trainers - perhaps ones that can also be worn with a dress?
Devon will be warm even if it's wet - if it's raining you could just go to a local tesco and buy some cheap wellies there for you and kids and leave at your MIL for next time?
My parents live down south and I leave quite a few spare essentials there for visits. We have toothbrushes, wellies, PJ's and the kids have cheapie rain coats there.
One pair of jeans and a hoodie each for Devon should suffice but Gins idea of putting in an amazon drop box order is great if you are struggling for suitcase space.

Ellapaella · 27/06/2019 07:47

Oh and I borrow my Mums clothes 😂

Laska2Meryls · 27/06/2019 08:00

Accessorize flip flops are good, cheap and sparkly pack flat and light (always good for in hotel or out in evening if you are only going up the road ...)

Nice to hear the holiday plans and outfits Smile

I’m feeling a bit rough. Started to feel a bit nauseous yesterday afternoon which continued on and off for the rest of the day. With my vomiting phobia I felt extremely anxious and couldn’t think of much else. Didn’t eat any dinner and took an anti sickness tablet that has been prescribed for me. Slept badly, kept waking up feeling anxious and needing the loo. Bit better this morning but tummy feels a bit ropey. And now I’m trying to work out what it is. I had a quiche in a cafe for lunch yesterday but the place seemed clean and reputable so it can’t be that. A bug? Makes me more anxious as worrying the rest of the family will get it and we’ve got dd1’s ball on Saturday.

Feel quite low this morning and exhausted with the worry. Apologies if I sound a bit nuts.

NotAnActualSheep · 27/06/2019 10:03

Excellent--thanks all for the shoe advice! I wish I could do flip flops, but my feet just end up spitting out the toe post. It's v weird... I'm definitely all about the comfort. Think I will take the white trainers for walking (and a lorry load of baby wipes to try to keep them clean...) the black sandals which are comfy and definitely OK for smarter too (the trainers aren't too bad tbh) and either loafers or khaki pumps as alternative walking shoes... and prob for general use in Nice. If my feet end up complaining they are too hot I can always buy some lovely pretty sandals while there ( nink et al... See what you have done to me Grin) and flutter my eyelashes at DH.

I'm going to take I think 4 or 5 dresses for swapping between day/ evening, and shirts/kimonos to wear over to cover arms if needed, 2 or 3 lightweight trouser/skirt and top combos (one for plane) and some cropped jeans for devon. (Can wash stuff there too and probably can manage a sink wash or 2 from hotels if needed). Plus swimming stuff. I'll take that pink boden jacket for general light rain use (and equivalent for DS) , and prob a wren and a light jumper/hoodie for evenings, or if its a bit chillier (and coming back to Edinburgh... Brrrr) . I have panic ordered the knitted green hoodie from the hush sale to have a look (and a couple of other things Blush ) . I ALWAYS end up taking far too much warm stuff and I must control myself...

Sadly I don't think we'll be going too far afield from DMILs home in Devon... just to the town centre/ playpark etc. She's been diagnosed with cancer and they are still trying to get her meds sorted so she is struggling with travel and wants to take it easy. We're partly going so DH can help sort out affairs etc Sad so it's going to be a bit of a difficult visit... but, yy, DS and I can definitely pick up wellies and so on there if needed, cheaply! And hopefully we can take her out for a meal or something if she feels up to it and we can arrange temporary insurance on her car (or cook for her anyway if not).

NotAnActualSheep · 27/06/2019 10:07

Oh no, soups. Sorry you're feeling grim. Sad Hope it disappears as quickly as it came. I always end up doing the same and trying to work out what it was that I ate... but sometimes I think it just ends up being a random 24hr bug thing and you're right as rain in a day. Hope the rest of your family are OK though.

Ellapaella · 27/06/2019 10:45

@NotAnActualSheep sorry to hear your MIL is not well, so sad. That's going to be a bit of a sombre visit for you all xx

@twosoups1972 how are you now? Feeling any better? Thanks

Ellapaella · 27/06/2019 10:47

I've just been browsing round a gorgeous local boutique - only went in for the aroma aromatics face cream that I get there - only place that sell it. Have bought the most gorgeous and I say gorgeous black kimono - I will show pics later (sitting in docs waiting room at moment).
Also bought a lovely dress by a local dressmaker 'run and fly' - it's very lovely. Such a nice warm sunny day here. Definitely beach this afternoon!

twosoups1972 · 27/06/2019 11:37

Sounds like a great find @Ellapaella looking forward to seeing a picture.

Feeling a bit better today, tummy is rumbling from lack of food but I still don't feel like eating.

It's a lovely sunny day here too. Unfortunately I have to spend it in central London shopping with dd2 to get the clothes she needs for a trip she is going on in early July. She is doing work experience next week so today is the only day we can go.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 12:21

Well kids are out at 1pm for summer! Its just absolutely beautiful here. So hot. Wish we lived next door to the beach but sadly not. Going to get some nice lunch and ice cream for the kids then pop to my mums for a little while and then home :) Yay for summer holidays :)

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 12:21

Looking forward to seeing your new kimono @Ellapaella

Total photo fail! Face on display - will have to ask for that to be deleted.

NotAnActualSheep · 27/06/2019 12:58

Thanks ella! I see what you mean about the kimono! That is beautiful, and really unusual. The sleeves are lush. You look great in both dresses as usual, but the print of the (dragon/ seahorse?!) one imo gives it the edge if you do need to return one. It also looks like a lovely cut with how the skirt falls. The v neck one is really pretty too, though.

soups urgh... That's not what you want when feeling grotty. Hope the trip was reasonably painless and you got what dd needed quickly.

never yay! Have a lovely afternoon. Its scorchio here too. Our schools break up tomorrow at noon, so if its still nice I think we'll do the same.

justilou1 · 27/06/2019 13:47

@Ellapaella - adore both dresses. If you absolutely HAVE to send one back, the shorter one has the edge. Love them both though!!! The kimono’s gorgeous!!!

ilovecherries · 27/06/2019 14:41

Hope you are feeling better now, soups.

ella, kimono is gorgeous. I love both dresses, but if you must send one back, I’d keep the second one.

Today I’m wearing the red frilly skirt and a black tee. It’s lovely here. Just waiting for mum and dad to arrive for DD’s graduation, and just back from vet again, as the wound swab had indicated a more specific antibiotic than the broad spectrum one dog is on atm.

NotAnActualSheep · 27/06/2019 15:20

That sounds promising cherries. Hope the infection clears soon. (I also caved and ordered the red frill skirt, just to see...though they didn't have a 12 so went for a 10, so hopefully too small Grin ).

Here is the smaller version of the m and s dress which is much better! Not much difference between the 8 and 10 tbh. The 8 was a better length, but I'll keep the 10 I think, even though it is still a tiny bit of a trip hazard, as the "waist" on the 8 was a little bit higher and looked more tent-y from the side. Also the per una shirt in a 10 and the toast shirt tucked into crazy trousers.

God, my arms are so pasty...

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 16:00

Dress is beautiful😍

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 16:01

Can you link it? Does it run small/large

NotAnActualSheep · 27/06/2019 17:00

Thanks never ! It's this one . Definitely runs large! It's a 10 in the photo (I'm 12/14) and there is heaps of room. I'm 5'6" and it is right down to the floor if I don't have shoes on.

Ellapaella · 27/06/2019 17:02

Lovely dress not
Also love the blouse and trousers combo in second picture - great for your hols

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 17:08

Ah sadly OOS in a the 10 [Or maybe thankful of that as I don't want to be spending] but it is gorgeous. It looks great on you. The only issue is bras and I really cant be faffed with strapless. They also have it reduced to sparks card holders.
