They look lovely @melen. They are a great price! The hush tee and shorts sound a really nice combo.

miffy2 · 26/06/2019 20:01

@melen they are fab shorts. I bought them in white last summer and a year later they are like new, despite sun cream/several washes. I am disappointed to see they seem to be d/c-ing that style as the sizes and colours available this year were very limited I was looking out for them). I wonder if they have a new style to replace them. I would have them in every colour if I could as they are so comfy, yet smart enough at the same time. That colourway is perfect with pink.

ilovecherries · 26/06/2019 20:04

I was very impressed by Toast returns. Posted something back at 4pm yesterday and got my refund at noon today (including the postage which surprised me). And I claimed on PP for the return postage costs, and got these back as well. Result. Then when I was cleaning the caravan, found an envelope with £13 of old £ coins, which I used to save for on-site laundries. Took them into the bank on the off chance, and they swapped them. It’s the little things :)

miffy2 · 26/06/2019 20:07

I am on the no-sugar wagon again, and on day 6. So far so good. I am down about half a kilo with many times that to go but it is a start. No processed sugar (sweets/choc/biscuits/cake etc) and no eating after dinner.
So breakfast is usually porridge with berries; mid-am snack is greek yogurt, seeds and berries. Lunch is a toasted bagel with a slice of cheese or some hummus (this is when I most need carbs); snack mid-afternoon is usually fruit and then dinner is whatever the family is having, plus a bit of salad.
This week has been so difficult; school breaks up on Friday and so many well-meaning parents have been sending in delicious treats to the staffroom. But so far I have ignored and tucked into my yogurt instead :)

Not eating after dinner is tough as it has always been 'tea and a biscuit...or 10' and tea by itself is boring. BUT I need to lose around a kilo a week for the next three months. I turn 50 in September and in all other ways in my life I am happier and more confident than when I turned 40. Except for my weight.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 20:19

Oh @miffy I feel your pain. I have a terrible sweet tooth. It was my fast day today and like you the staff room had so many sweet treats. To cap it all we had a teacher leaving today and lots of cakes etc so I did succumb. Its sooo hard. You are doing well. It is what I need to do.

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 20:41

Well done Miffy that’s the hardest part having just tea, but you are doing really well👍🏼
Thanks for the shorts love, tried them on fit really well I bought loads last summer in the sale & they have been brilliant, the dress is lovely & soft the sleeves are v pretty perfect length but big on the hips I might see how much to get it altered as it’s a handy throw on with a denim jacket.
never love love those toast plimsolls, I am really getting into canvas pumps after my superdry ones I really really don’t need another footwear obsession Send help😳

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 20:43

Yeahy cherries it’s definitely the small stuff that brings the biggest smiles.

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 20:45

cherries I super-impressed with Toast, not only did they send me the linen top express by DHL cheaper than the quoted price and super-quick but also have refunded me for the dress I returned, within 2 days with no quibble despite me losing the original packaging.. I am a convert!!
Len I love that dress esp and the shorts look great .
Thanks for nice words, people, I am a stone ( and a bit) more than last year's holiday weight, but wtf, it's been a really crap year . I'm going to thoroughly enjoy the holiday, and big diet when I get back ( I am determined as i will be booking into a boob reduction consultant asap) .. Cherries has inspired me to finally do something about them .

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 20:47

It's not the sweet stuff that does it for me luckily, but carbs, cheese and Wine

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 20:50

Toast returns are amazing. They always refund within a few days. They TOTALLY put hush to shame.

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 21:08

They Certainly do never..I have only just got refunds on Hush stuff sent back over 3 weeks ago !!

OP posts:
dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 21:12

Hmm Toast really do seem to take CS seriously, Hush could certainly do with speeding up refunds shockingly long wait sometimes.
Laska that’s the spirit go & have a totally fabulous holiday, enjoy & get some peace & well deserved relaxation😘 yy the cheese & carbs & for me anything salty as well.

NotAnActualSheep · 26/06/2019 21:21

Really pretty shorts and dress len... I agree the dress looks super-useful with a denim jacket. Also, I'm afraid I can send no help on canvas shoes. I counted earlier and I had 5 pairs (now 3...have binned a couple as being past their best). I really like them in the spring/ summer though.

Yay cherries! A free £13...cant argue with that... I haven't had a toast refund yet Sad but I did only post the stuff back yesterday, so can't complain!

miffy I am very impressed. I've totally fallen off any wagon I was clinging onto on the snack front. Ive moved on from tunnocks tea cakes to magnums (magna?) which are a lot more dangerous. Need to start diet again after holiday I think...

Oh laska. I agree with the others - you look fab, and given the year you have had, being a bit heavier is surely not surprising. Yy to a new start after holidays. It may be that a bit of relaxing and sunshine means that you naturally tend to eat healthily (doesn't work for me, to be fair...my holidays are all about the wine with dinner and ice cream...but some people find it more natural to eat low carby stuff, seafood, salads and so on with a bit of sunshine).

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 21:26

Not really pretty blouse.

NotAnActualSheep · 26/06/2019 21:41

OK... Its occurred to me that I can no longer ignore the fact that we are going on holiday next Wednesday. Yay! And also, eeeeek.

I've been thinking about a packing list, and have to be ruthless, as we are going with one suitcase for me, DS and DH (not entirely airline stinginess... We're travelling a fair amount by train and its a pain in the bum lugging multiple cases around). DH has allocated me a max of 3 pairs of shoes (talked him up from 2) including the pair I wear going out. And I'm flummoxed, frankly. We are going to South of France, then Paris, then Devon... More walking/sightseeing rather than beachy, and we don't really do "posh" meals...though i do like to change into something a bit less functional in the evening.

Current contenders (all of which are reasonably comfy and broken in etc) are:
white leather trainers
Pale blue leather trainers (hush ones with little stars on)
White canvas shoes with stripes (hush!)
Khaki canvas shoes
Pale green wedge espadrilles (from late lamented BHS of all places...) not the most comfy but can easily do a bit of walking to restaurants etc
Tan loafers... so, so comfy, and can be worn all day, but past their best, frankly
Hush Black studded sandals (the ones never has)
Oiled brown leather birkenstocks
Fitflop snakeskin gladiator sandals
Pale green menorcan style sandals

Other options are also available, but these are the obvious ones that I'm thinking about... (may be able to wang a 4th pair in hand luggage, but ideally not...).

What would you lovely lot take if you were me?

Clothes can follow from the shoes! Grin

Ellapaella · 26/06/2019 22:12

Oh my goodness @NotAnActualSheep you are going everywhere on your hols!
You'll likely need wellies and a raincoat for Devon (and a wetsuit) - those would be your essentials.

South of France- will be hot hot hot
Paris - chic chic chic

Basically a packing nightmare! 😂
You may just have to take your entire wardrobe

GinandGingerBeer · 26/06/2019 22:21

What kind of accommodation are you staying in in Devon? I'd be tempted to post some bulkier stuff on.
(Or a delivery from Next to an amazon drop box!.... Wink)

ilovecherries · 26/06/2019 22:21

Nope, I couldn’t cope with that complexity, not!

len, I love those Rachel shorts as well, got a couple of pairs last year, and wore them loads.

NotAnActualSheep · 26/06/2019 22:24

Hahaha! Yy ella. This is my issue... DH just doesn't understand (he has 3 pairs of shoes, fullstop). We're spending 4 days in Nice, 2 in Paris and 3 visiting DMIL in Devon (so no need to brave any kind of sightseeing there, really). Flying from to Nice, and making our way back by train. So basically 3 entirely different short breaks in 3 different climates on one suitcase. Can't be done...

NotAnActualSheep · 26/06/2019 22:26

Hmmm, gin... Now you're talking!

justilou1 · 27/06/2019 04:37

@NotAnActualSheep - men NEVER understand shoes!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 06:52

Well for me @NotAnActualSheep I always like to reduce shoes and only really take 3 pairs so it would be - a neutral trainer, a pair of flat comfy sandal, a dressier sandal to wear with a dress. That would be me. I went through Europe last year and wore my canvas trainers and a flat pair of slides, My clog sandals with a slight heel.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 06:53

All were plain. If you need a beach shoe then add them but it doesnt sound like you do😀

neveradullmoment99 · 27/06/2019 06:54

And u r right. Men never understand shoes!!!

Laska2Meryls · 27/06/2019 07:04

I am taking 2 pairs of saltwaters gold and navy and two pairs of flip flops . That's it for the 3weeks .. But we will have a car and it's not at all posh ... I'd be inclined to take the tan loafers for walking and travelling as nothing worse then sore feet.. Or white leather trainers ..
