How do you all store jewellery? Not fancy (real!) stuff, of which I have very little, know exactly what I DO have and lives in its original box, but rather all the ‘accessorising’ types of stuff. I keep rediscovering lovely earrings, braclets, necklaces that I’d forgotten I had. I always wear jewellery but end up putting the same things on for weeks at a time simply because they are handy.

grannycake · 26/06/2019 12:05

U use a couple of mug trees to hang necklaces from and they live on a shelf - I also hang long necklaces from the corners of mirrors. I have a compartmented box for earrings and don't wear bracelets. However having said all that I mostly wear a small necklace that my daughter bought me which I don't take off, my watch (ditto) and my rings (ditto).

Having written that I love the thought of pretty shiny things but actually don't wear them and I need to stop being such a magpie

Ellapaella · 26/06/2019 12:25

@justilou1 what a cow! I'm glad you spoke up and put her in her place. I love that jumpsuit on you - it looks great!

Ellapaella · 26/06/2019 12:26

No helpful suggestions re jewellery I'm afraid cherries - I'm not a huge jewellery wearer anyway but mines all just shoved in a wooden box - tangled and neglected 😫

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 12:30

Yy Just what a cow, you look absolutely fabulous in both outfits.
I have a earring compartment bit in my jewellery box & have bracelets in a drawer, necklaces same as Ella tangled & shoved in the drawer with bracelets.

FuzzyPuffling · 26/06/2019 12:51

just you look fabulous!

Necklaces in my house are separated into individual plastic (sorry) bags and stored an a basket. Earrings are in a tiny set of drawers divided into silver only and silver and stone, bracelets are in a glass jar. Writing this down just makes me sound weird!

justilou1 · 26/06/2019 12:53

Re: Jewellery, the only “real” things I have are my rings. I wear them always, except in labs or at work. Then they are on a chain around my neck. I am contemplating getting a ring keeper necklace for this purpose. Oh, I have also inherited a ridiculously expensive gold necklace that I assumed was fake and nearly threw out, (I call it my dog collar) and an exquisite Victorian marquesite bracelet/choker that turned out to be made with real diamonds. It is in an antique bowl with the billions of cheap earrings I have gathering dust in a cupboard. (I assume if a burglar sees it, they will assume it is as fake as I did.) I have some necklaces dangling from some cup hooks attached to the bottom of a particularly vile mirror. I don’t wear necklaces often. I have a giant cosmetic bag full of dead watches I never wear thanks to the advent of phones and I never wear bracelets either. (Suspect year’s of piano lessons have a lot to do with my suspicion of being shackled.) Come to think of it, I have a terrifying amount of jewellery for someone that barely wears it. Might need to Kon-Mari that next! My favourite pieces are cheap and cheerfuls given to me by my kids!

twosoups1972 · 26/06/2019 13:24

@just I am fuming on your behalf, what a horrible girl. You were very restrained not reporting her. You look great!

Jewellery storage - I have one of those stands with arms at different heights for necklaces, bracelets etc. And a proper jewellery box for proper stuff, I like the stackers ones as you can add trays when necessary.

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 13:37

just love both the dress and jumpsuit, but ShockHmm at the sales person.. glad she missed out on her commission.. have just picked up the Toast linen tank and it's fab!! It was due to be delivered tomorrow ( and would have been too late probably as we are on the end of the island, and the delivery round) ,but one advantage of being in a small place is that the local delivery couriers and depot people are actually human,. I rang DHL this morning and they called me back when it came into them from the boat so I was able to go and get it.
I also ramontoM&S to buy anew strapless bra and another couple of vest tops and ended up getting the summer beauty box as well ! Was worth it just for The Ren shower gel and ultrasun face stuff .
Ihaven caught up , bit hopryou doggie is better today .

@justilou1 I am so Angryon your behalf. What a horrible young woman, I can only assume she has her own issues to speak to someone like that.
You look fab! I love that denim jumpsuit, I keep looking for one but I'm worried I'd look like a toddler/plumber combo. You certainly wear it well.
The dress is gorgeous too, just my kinda thing.
Well done on pulling her on her behaviour, not an easy thing to do.
A big 'up yours' to her and a big thumbs up to you in your size 8 xx

justilou1 · 26/06/2019 14:42

Thanks Ladies - I was worried about looking like the missing Teletubbie, but my kids assured me the jumpsuit was great. Pretty sure DH is going to hate it, but he dresses like a PE teacher at all times, so not one to judge. Have decided that the sales girl was probably highly insecure and felt the need to throw her weight around. Not the right way to go about it at all, but at 19 we all thought we knew everything. (Admittedly, my kids were aghast with righteous indignation on my behalf and wondered why I didn't rip her ears off.... It's my job to teach them manners, not her.). The size 8 thing isn't something I think about these days. I was talking to my friend about that, and it sounds more impressive than it is - Because I'm very short! I'm sitting very comfortably right in the middle of the healthy BMI range, and am neither skinny or overweight. After watching my parents squander their health and happiness and die relatively young, I aim to be healthy for as long as possible, so I eat well, exercise a little bit and laugh a lot!!! I'm not going to take her opinion personally.

ilovecherries · 26/06/2019 16:37

You look great, just

NotAnActualSheep · 26/06/2019 16:40

yy - I agree with everyone else justi - you look amazing! And a Biscuit for the snobby rude sales assistant. In fact, no, a Biscuit is too good for her (I'll eat it instead, ta...) . The leopard dress is stunning on you (even with the stripey socks), and you look absolutely nothing like a plumber in the jumpsuit! Good buys, and bargains too.

On jewellery, I hang long necklaces from the headboard of the bed Blush and other stuff is in a mixture of old jewellery boxes (3 or 4 necklaces per box) or scattered randomly on the bedside table (more Blush ) Every now and again I have a sort through and rotate some other necklaces (that's pretty much all the jewellery i wear, though have a few bracelets too, which are in their own box) from a "black hole" jewellery box which has things in separate boxes/ bags, but hardly ever gets opened, cos i can't be bothered to sort through all the bags. Should probably do something about that...

miffy - beautiful kimono - love the blue and white pattern. Ditto fuzzy - love that pattern! thinks to self: maybe I need some more blue and white in my life...looks so fresh... .

len - you look amazing too. I don't care if it's all being carried off by the sunglasses. If a pair of sunnies did that to me I would be very pleased indeed.

laska - Yay - glad you managed to get your toast stuff in time. They sound like good couriers to have! Are you off tomorrow then? How exciting!

huff - Oh yes - the blue dress looks lovely too. Have to say, though, I have just been to town to collect mine, and also tried it on. It was ENORMOUS. I read the reviews and sized down to a 12 (well - that's probably my M&S size generally, but I fancied it biggish) - but it was gaping under the arms, trailing on the ground and you could have held a wedding party in the skirt. They didn't have the dress in store (though the cashier was quite keen that it was as she would have gone for it too...) but I've reordered in a 10 and 8 online to see if either of those improves matters...! (Was able to keep the beauty box anyway though, even though I returned the dress - and I do like that....I know it seems to have been less than enthusiastically received, but I like the shower gel and the ultrasun, and fancied trying the leg stuff and perfume, so everything else is a bonus, really).

I also tried on this blouse from the much maligned per una which looked much better on the hanger than on the website...lovely lightweight cotton and i thought would look good either tucked into high waisted trousers/ skirts or loose. Reminded me of the floaty anokhi toast top I got earlier in the week - but a fraction of the cost (and not quite such a beautiful fabric - but still a pretty print). Unfortunately the one I tried on was an 8 (wrong hanger - I thought it was a 12) and although it fit fine Shock it was a little tighter on the shoulders/upper arms than I thought was needed for that style - so have reordered in a 10. Bizarrely, I did think it could have been a 12 until I saw the label, and it was a lovely loose fit around my hips/ bum - so goodness knows what it would look like on someone who is actually an 8....

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:05

So a size small came up in the linen dress on the toast website in blue so I have ordered it again as I regretted sending it back because it was so light and easy to wear. I have crazily ordered the midnight one too but it is in a kind of dark denim linen and a pair of novesta khaki plimsoles and ecru ones for choice. I fancy wearing the dress with a pair for a simple look. They should arrive on Friday and then make my choice.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:06

The midnight was full price although I had a code for 15% off.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:48

@Laska2Meryls I can see that they area doing a major search for a young woman who has gone missing on the IOW! She comes from Scotland. Do you know anything about it?

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 18:48

Oh heck Never I have taken the L! so that its nice and loose around the humongous norks! but with my frame I'd never fit a S anyway (I am quite depressed about that ..always wanted to be petite, but no, I am the jolly bouncing type )

Oh well, the dress is fab, and its going on holiday with me ,along with the skirt and the new linen tank also in L....as I somehow forgot to lose 2 stone in time Sad)

Whale on the beach !!

We are traveling up to Gatwick tomorrow and staying over as we fly stupid o' clock Friday morning

Laska2Meryls · 26/06/2019 18:51

I've heard about it , never as some of our guys have been out , but dont know any circumstances , hope she isn't lost at sea.. (but its very easy to ,if you are not experienced )

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:51

Well tbh @Laska, I have put it on as well. I am more of a 14 depressingly but hell, you know what, we can worry about that later. You look fantastic in all your outfits so don't be hard on yourself. Bloody enjoy your holiday. Its been SO warm here. Must be at least 24 plus.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:53

Oh dear. I hope not. Lets hope they find her. Was just talking to someone today that is mega rich and they have bought a boat [currently sitting in a port in France] She was saying about the dangers of the sea. I was thinking about how lavish it is. I am not a sea person. I don't even like ferries.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/06/2019 18:57

I would have ordered the asphalt in it again but they have put the price@Laska2Meryls to £99. That annoys me. I do think the brighter colour will suit me more though.

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 19:02

Laska yy what never said, don’t be so hard on yourself you always rock your clothes & have a fantastic holiday.
Hope they find the young woman safe & well

Dinkydoos · 26/06/2019 19:02

Some lovely looks last couple of days. Really positive, upbeat clothes if you get my drift!
Really inspiring not to just put jeans and a jumper on!

dontcallmelen · 26/06/2019 19:47

Just got these from Boden, shorts 25.00 & dress 22.50 both half price, not sure about the dress will need to try on, the shorts should go with the pink rainbow T-shirt I ordered from hush, love boden shorts really well made & fit nicely but only in the sale as fifty quid is a bit extortionate.
