New dress for school sports day

Help please! I’d like to buy a new dress which is smart casual and suitable for a school sports day (I’m not competing ). A school mum has a lovely white floaty dress with a lace trim which is lovely, but she has an ace figure and I don’t.

I have big norks and no waist - classic apple shape. Mint Velvet have a few dresses in their sale but they are dark wintry colours and a lot have handkerchief hems which I don’t like

Any ideas? Please!!

I hope the weather is nice enough to wear it (and that sports day isn't cancelled). I'm sitting here waiting for Noah's Ark to float by

That's a lovely dress and it's really versatile so you should get lots of wear out if it.

Fab dress - thought Boden would have something - btw look tomorrow when sale starts to see if reduced more & order at cheaper price & return the other one if its worth it .

& to the poster upthread about a dress to walk to the bottom of the garden in - I knew I was missing something from my dress wardrobe - I love a dress as I said upthread - thanks for your suggestion - its gone on my must have dress list as well as the ones Im planning to wear for my sons sportsday, Year 6 performance, Year 6 leavers day + my trip to the tennis x 2 - that's a lot of dresses - yay !

Hi Bea. Sadly I knew about the JL sale as I got a preview email, but sports day is imminent so I didn’t want to risk it. Now that I know which style suits me, I might buy some more online for, oh, I don’t know... walking the dog, I need a special brushing my teeth dress and definitely one to wear while I Mumsnet

Love it! It's down to £51 on the Boden wesbite, you could order it and if it doesn't arrive in time wear the original one but if it does take the other one back (and buy another with the difference!).

I'm tempted to order it myself!

It's reduced in JL also... Can you order it at the reduced price, wear the dress you have then take back the new unworn dress next week using the full price receipt?
