Vol85 was far too slow and hopefully a shiny new thread will get us all excited again.

Lots has been going on with lots of stress for many of us but our love of fashion and friendship keeps us here.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Well done on the wardrobe clear out dry.

Nice vintage bag lib!

I’ve been living in my denim shorts this summer too. I’ve got a few cotton tops from Boden like this one which I wear with them.

Nice red dress queenc.

I haven’t really bought much this summer as didn’t need anything. Though I did get a couple of midi skirts. This one from John lewis for £20 and this one from hush. I wear them with navy t’shirt tops. The JL one is good for work and is much longer on me than the model. They’re both a bit diffferent from my usual skirts, as I don’t usually do long, but I like them. They will also be good for spring/ autumn with a navy jumper when it’s warm for tights but not warm enough for an expanse of bare leg!

I was also sorry to see that KM has gone into administration but am not used to have some really nice and different stuff but the last couple of years it felt very samey. I wouldn’t be surprised if French connection and ted baker were next. Ted baker especially just seems so expensive now. I used to get loads of stuff from there whereas now it just seems the same every season. Though I do have my eye on this Coat for A/w. My black jacket version was a great buy.

Sorry for the me me me post, I have been reading but there’s a lot to remember!

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/08/2019 11:28

queenc I saw this red jumper in Karen Millen. I really rate their knitwear (or have in the past, not sure if the quality is the same). They also do it in navy Smile.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/08/2019 11:46

Wow MrsM you are on it with the AW shopping! Everything looks great for you.

Lovely bag Lib, does it fit the brief you gave us on here a while back?

Marsha we got a Dyson fan this summer, it's the hot/cool one and it's ok but quite noisy on high, I think I prefer the strong blast you get with a cheap fan! MiniBlair isn't walking yet but has been crawling for quite a while, I'm quite relieved he won't be walking on holiday just yet tbh. Though not as relieved as I am that he went straight onto cow's milk... no more perfect prep machine and no more sterilising now he's 1! Yay!

QueenC you should wear more red!

Shop I think there is defo a market for personal styling services, look at that Styled by Susie woman, her facebook group has 10k people in it! And she diagnoses people's season by email! So maybe online help is the way forward.

blingy lovely to see you back Flowers and glad you had some family time at last.

I have packed all my clothes for holiday already (going tomorrow night) but keep stressing about the weather - we won't be back til the 14th so it could all change. So annoying!

Sorry for long post but I keep remembering stuff. I did a Stories order yesterday which is coming today:
Black ribbed dress, will take away if it's a keeper, hopefully should be really versatile
Floral shirt dress for work I don't really wear prints but I think the orderliness of this one will suit me better than a random one.
Turtleneck to match the dress but not to wear together!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/08/2019 11:50

X post Everyone. I bought new denim shorts this summer (Topshop premium mom shorts) but haven't worn them yet, hopefully will next week. I agree about ted baker, I used to love their stuff but I've had some gift vouchers for a while now and not seen anything I want. Both of those skirts look lovely btw.

MarshaBradyo · 27/08/2019 11:53

Blair that is good news imo. Holidays when they’re crawling are way easier than running around. Much slower not so nerve wracking! Great news on the milk.

Shop I can really see you doing that.

MarshaBradyo · 27/08/2019 11:56

Blair love what you bought, perfect for you

Everyone I couldn’t see the coat not sure if it was my end

QueenC loved that red dress you linked earlier

MarshaBradyo · 27/08/2019 11:58

MrsM love those AW Uniqlo items, so good! A bit more heat then it’s all change

Blingy pleased you’re having family time

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/08/2019 12:44

this is the coat marsha. Though I’ll wait for the inevitable discount codes in the coming months.

I like that black ribbed dress blair. Hope you have a great holiday.

We’re looking at holidays for 2020. Thinking of trying a villa rather than hotel (but will eat out in the evenings as I’m not cooking on holiday!). Any body done both and which did you prefer? We usually do hotel but don’t really make the most of the hotel offerings (kids won’t go to kids club, we don’t do the activities etc) so not sure if it’s worth paying for or whether it’s better to spend more on a nice Vila with decent pool, near facilities etc

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/08/2019 12:46

Great items for you mrsm. Can really see you in the wine blouse and tweed coat.

QueenCoral · 27/08/2019 18:20

mrsm you are on it with you aw shopping!
Thanks for the red dress love. I’m a bit sceptical about hush knitwear and the KM is far too clingy for me I’m afraid.
everyone I like both villa and hotel. I like the flexibility of villa and being able to easy lounge around but the shopping/washing up can be a faff. If it’s just 4 of you then fine but I’m bigger groups I find we are constantly shopping for milk/water etc. We did AI last year and that was fab-kids could just have drinks/snacks on tap but it gets a bit samey. This year we did hotel with just breakfast which was good

Themarvellousmrsm · 27/08/2019 19:32

Everyone we've done both and prefer self catering for the flexibility - even now our dc's don't come with us. Obviously I don't cook but can rustle up a bottle of wine and plate of bread and cheese Grin

Our most successful holidays with the dc were self catering (with dishwasher and washing machine) with shared pool as it meant they'd make friends and leave us in peace be occupied. It depends on the ages too as eventually they'd refuse to get up for breakfast then emerge near lunchtime starving but cba to head out of the room ..... you get the picture!

Thanks for the clothes love-need to be careful not to overspend now as lots more winter stock will be arriving soon.

DryWhiteagainW · 27/08/2019 21:54

Everyone we always did self catering when the children were little, I just couldn’t cope sharing a room in a hotel with babies/little kids and the whole thing would have stressed me out. But when they became teenagers (and able to share a room) we found hotels a lot better and now that they both are drinking age, all inclusive is definitely the way forward!!!!!

Great purchases MrsM and Everyone, I especially love the blue two tone skirt.
Blair the two dresses will be flexible additions, very nice too.

DryWhiteagainW · 27/08/2019 21:56

this jumper in raisin which is a lovely dark chocolate colour is a keeper (although I nearly passed out from the heat when trying it on today)....really lovely on, but for normal height people will be quite boxy and short in the waitst, for me a perfect length. Comes up big too.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/08/2019 09:26

That's lovely Dry, I just can't imagine it being cold enough for knits yet!

I was the same last night trying on my Stories order, I only managed the black dress, I've got 30 days so the rest can wait. The black dress is coming on holiday with labels on so I can get my sisters' opinion... it's much longer on me than the model as I am not a model and the fabric is lovely, a bit shiny and folds up really small with no creasing, but it showed my bra on one side I suspect the issue was the bra, must go and get fitted again soon. It was better braless.

Everyone obviously I'm a good few years behind you, but we are doing self catering this holiday and hotel in February - will be interesting to see how they compare!

QueenCoral · 28/08/2019 14:51

It started of sunny here so I’m in denim shorts (hush) but now cold and wet so I can well imagine jumpers!!

Themarvellousmrsm · 28/08/2019 16:54

It's still nice here Queen but we had the mother of all storms yesterday evening.

I've been idly looking at boots - the pink are Valentino, snake print Dune and the ankle boots Hunter (thinking of buying a pair as so easy to get on & off)

Really like the pink Valentino ones MrsM

I realised the ones I was going to buy were actually um slippers so have discarded

Back to Marant ones in my mind - what’s wrong with them again? Apart from high cost. Pls remind me why they were loathed Grin

Love those zebra boots MrsM. No way I would get them but they're fab!

I had a decluttering day. I set myself the target of identifying 20 clothing items to permanently take out of the wardrobe. I got to 15. Hmm First world problems but I have lost weight (not purposefully) so stuff I haven't really worn for a couple of years fits, meaning I couldn't be as ruthless as usual.

I have also now accepted the inevitable and am fully using the 2 double wardrobes in one of the spare rooms to house holiday and party clothes so that dressing room clothes aren't all scrunched up.

My cleaner said to me today....yes but won't you just buy more stuff?BlushHmm

shopafrolic · 30/08/2019 23:41

i’m In love

Blingysolightly · 31/08/2019 14:45

Yeah I am not cool enough to love them!!Grin

VivaVegas · 31/08/2019 23:38

Queen not sure if either of these red sweats from Hush are any good red and red jumper.

libertyonhertravels · 01/09/2019 10:20

Blair the bag doesn't match my brief from earlier in the year at all Grin but I love it and it's working well so far.

I did a big Zara order last night. Will link if any of it is any good. I'm lusting after a few more expensive items but trying to lose a few kg so don't want to spend too much for a few months.

Beginning of spring here and the weather this weekend has been amazing. We've been out the back garden in t-shirts all weekend and the garden is taking off. Daffodils everywhere making me smile.

Blingysolightly · 01/09/2019 10:45

Lib, i am envious! Weather is glorious here too but i am very aware that it will all be over by the end of this month!Sad

So I have spent time this week decluttering. I have de cluttered in the past, but this is the first time that i have taken everything off the hanging rails in my dressing room. It was so bad that I eventually muttered to dh that I have too many clothes.Shock I realised that as i put on weight over the last couple of years that i had got into the habit of only wearing a few things over and over so having lost weight, I have done a massive rearrangement of everything in the closet. I only managed to take out about 20 things that i truly couldn't imagine myself wearing again - though last year i took out about 80 things. So I have decided that my buying policy for the next year is definitely going to be a one in one out policy as i literally have no room. Having said that, someone linked to Hush the other day and as i was having a root around, I saw this basket stitch jacket that I own in red, that both the black and the blue were available in my Xs and reduced price, so I thought both. The black is actually the one that i really wanted and looks great so that's the keeper, the blue looks like something that i would have worn about 20 years ago in my 20s, definitely not me! I really want a white coat, I have wanted one for years, so trying to work out how I fit that in the wardrobe.Grin

There is another thread in S&B at the moment on advent calendars, which I am very excited about! I know it's not fashionable but i still use Body Shop stuff - their shower gels and their body creams so this year i am thinking of getting that beauty calendar as well as the Yankee candle one. Dh moaned last year that I got everyone in the house advent calendars including our housekeeper, cleaner and gardener except for him so I need to find him one this year. This is of course the same dh who has always looked disdainfully at it all like I was nuts!!Hmm Any ideas welcome!

DryWhiteagainW · 01/09/2019 18:44

Love that jacket, right up my street Blingy
After my big declutter I’m going to see if I can just not buy anything at all Grin.... will work on getting rid of a few pounds after the summer.
