Vol85 was far too slow and hopefully a shiny new thread will get us all excited again.

Lots has been going on with lots of stress for many of us but our love of fashion and friendship keeps us here.

And I need some help please.
I've been picked to go to an event with work, next month, overseas so really excited and should hopefully do me the world of good.
One night is cocktail dress so I've bought this which is lovely, but need some shoes/sandals to wear sress.
I have lots as that's my go to purchase! But what colour and style?
I'm think sandals over shoes and ideally can then reuse the dress and sandals for a Christmas do.
Any input appreciated! Thanks

DryWhiteagainW · 17/08/2019 07:59

I’m back!!!!
Had a fantastic time, wore everything but sadly went nuts with the all inclusive and have to be very sensible now Sad

Viva so glad you had a good holiday. Your trip abroad for work sounds glam, love the dress. I’d do metallic sandals as they have, gold or silver. Rose gold would look good too.

Purchases that get me excited? It’s generally an item I’ve spent a bit too much on but have really wanted for ages, or heels or a dress because I always feel glam in those.

AW? Don’t really need anything..........yet. MrsM l need a waterproof coat like you, with a hood, to replace my beloved and much worn, but not chic, Merell Wakefield coat that has been a total workhorse.

DryWhiteagainW · 17/08/2019 08:02

Anyone heard of this handbag company? Great idea. I’ve spent 6 weeks trying to decide which colour bag and strap combo would work for me.
Olive and camo strap is a fav.....or black and camo.....or merlot and something else.......see, it can keep you up at night........a form of torture Grin

VivaVegas · 17/08/2019 12:40

Not heard of them Dry but really like them.
Maybe silver sandals would be good.

Applefairy · 17/08/2019 13:10

Viva love all your purchases - I thought silver too. But would you consider these?

Applefairy · 17/08/2019 13:23

Whoops I meant to post a link to the gunmetal coloured ones

Applefairy · 17/08/2019 13:48

I got this jacket from hush for work and it adds a splash of colour to black work outfits.

I yet to wear the GR white boots . I’m still in winter in the Southern Hemisphere and I’m thinking they’ll be good with pale wash denim for our spring. Also the beautiful nude slouchy suede GR boots are awaiting their first outing.

Does anyone have suggestions for three items I should invest in for the next summer here? I’m thinking pale wash jeans or skirt and a high quality, oversized, white shirt for a start..

VivaVegas · 18/08/2019 08:17

Apple those sandals are lovely and a colour I don't have any in.
Nice Hush jacket.
Glad you had a lovely holiday Dry.

Themarvellousmrsm · 18/08/2019 08:25

Waves to Dry, your holiday looked amazing. Hope ds is settling in well.

Viva I love your dress and I agree with Apple, a metallic colour would look really good, gunmetal, silver, grey even maybe bronze.

Themarvellousmrsm · 18/08/2019 08:31

Have found a couple of pairs of sandals that may look ok

Carvela - like the ankle strap
Carvela grey suede
Reiss - omg I love the style of these

Themarvellousmrsm · 18/08/2019 08:36

How about a summer bag Apple?

I returned the Coach bag was gutted as it had a few little niggles I didn't like. Still on the hunt for an oxblood bag or failing that black.

Slowly starting to think of A/W and have my eye on a couple of jumpers in Hush. Can't find a raincoat I like - basically I need a packamac type thing. Joules do a good range but not keen on flowers on outerwear.

DryWhiteagainW · 18/08/2019 09:10

Oh I love waking up to shoe links. Apple the OUTNET gunmetal sandals are wonderful., as are the first Carvella linked by Marvellous.

Apple I don’t think you can go wrong with a good white shirt....I’ve seen a few on Pinterest or somewhere worn oversized over skinnies with flat sandals, it’s a great look.

shopafrolic · 18/08/2019 17:03

Bonjour tout le monde. I'm home!!!!

I need to read back and check links but just had to share my New baby from Longchamp
It was a close contest between this one (that I Pinned about a year ago) and this more structured one which is a fab design, but a bit smaller and I decided it wasn't as versatile. The top handle on this one tucks perfectly under the base of the bag for when you are using it with the long strap - really ingenious. And they also sell separate chain straps for it. I was v impressed with all the thought around the design of all the bags.
We've had a lovely time, lots of rosé, cheese, saucisson, bread and more bread Grin
MrShop goes to hospital for (hopefully) his final operation tomorrow so we're back home with a bump. Keep your fingers crossed for him please Voguettes.

shopafrolic · 19/08/2019 08:09

Where is everyone? If anyone is out shopping could they pick up these bad boys for me please?

DryWhiteagainW · 19/08/2019 09:20

Oh wow those are very you Shop

I’m here........was fine, “don’t need anything for autumn”.......then I get thinking............this thread is bad.
I’m thinking a lot of my skirt lengths are possibly a bit short now (on or just above the knee).......it’s all midi out there which I like but makes me feel a bit frumpy. My go to for work over the last few years has been skirt/dress with ankle boots. I’m liking the midi with knee length boot look but I’m sure I’ll not look like a cool 70s vibe person, just a 70s time warp woman Hmm

DryWhiteagainW · 19/08/2019 09:22

Infact what I need for autumn is to ditch 6lb ............pesky cocktails

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 19/08/2019 15:33

Hello!

Sorry I've not been around. DS has been ill with back to back stomach bugs for the last month, and I caught last week's and am still recovering, then we had both our birthdays, and it's all been a bit stressful. He is better now, but I just hope it lasts as we are going away next week.

So glad you had a lovely holiday Shop - you deserve it. We are off to France too, can't wait. Thinking of mrShop today Flowers

After a few weeks of feeling like I send back everything I buy, I bought this khaki boilersuit on a complete whim and it is amazing, fits perfectly and even DH likes it (but surely this has to be the ultimate man repeller item?!). Looking forward to wearing it in winter with my heeled chelsea boots and timberlands even if I do look like a mechanic.

I'd also like a satin bias cut skirt and got my eye on a Chloe bag but that's going to have to be a dream wish list item!

Themarvellousmrsm · 19/08/2019 17:19

Flipping heck, I'm pondering over pac a macs and Shop pops up with the most fabulous bag eyerolls Hope all goes well today for MrShop

Sorry you and ds have been unwell Blair; fingers crossed that's the end of it now. Liking the boilersuit

Am wearing the uniqlo jumpsuit today with supergas and thinking I'd like a winter weight one and am very happy that knee length boots with midi length skirts/culottes are a look for A/W seem to remember wearing similar in 1990

Themarvellousmrsm · 19/08/2019 17:25

Love this look from Massimo dutti - Dry you could definitely do this.

Themarvellousmrsm · 19/08/2019 17:26

How about this skirt Blair

Themarvellousmrsm · 19/08/2019 17:27

Love this look - skirt would be dragging on the ground for me!

shopafrolic · 19/08/2019 21:42

Love the pleated culottes Marvellous (still don't know what to shorten you to). At Marseilles airport there was a little girl (maybe 8 or 9) following her stylish mum wearing a white t-shirt, pleated navy culottes and white Stan Smiths. Super cute in one so tiny. The first time I have ever looked at a child and wanted to wear their clothes Smile.
I used the bag for the first time today. It makes me v happy.
MrShop is being kept in overnight but the op has gone well so fingers crossed all will be well from now on.

shopafrolic · 19/08/2019 21:46

Blair poor DS. I hope everyone feels better soon. I LOVE that jumpsuit - why do they not do it in black??
Dry I like the first link from Marvellous for you.

shopafrolic · 20/08/2019 09:10

Kate Hudon's new label has arrived at Selfridges. I can see Bernice in this jumpsuit

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 20/08/2019 09:51

That skirt is gorgeous MrsM, but I am thinking navy (dull I know, but it would be to wear with opaques and also I need to think about practicality). Or maybe dark grey?

Thanks Shop, DS is better now but it's still stressful because whenever he gets a bug he gets a temporary dairy intolerance afterwards :( so glad the op went well for mr shop.

I can definitely see Bernice in that jumpsuit too, it's gorgeous! Will have a look at their stuff.
