Being that far out of the core family must be quite a nice life - money, privilege, but can go around unnoticed most of the time.

whitershadeofpale For some reason your photo isn't clickable to make it bigger Sad

SleepingStandingUp · 03/05/2019 21:18

yup, all the fun of joining in the exciting stuff, no obligation to do the ribbon cutting!

SenecaFalls · 03/05/2019 21:25

Edward and Sophie usually look as though they are enjoying themselves when they go to those continental royal weddings. I enjoy going to weddings. I would especially enjoy going to them if I got to wear a tiara.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/05/2019 21:26

@thenightsky Zoom working fine for me 🙂

Daisypie · 03/05/2019 22:09

Love that photo awhitershadeofpale especially the other people engrossed in their jewellery.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/05/2019 22:22

Vogue article on Princess Margaret. The current royals' foibles pale in comparison!

Princess Mary promoting sustainable fashion in a magazine interview. I think she looks stunning

I reckon Megs will have the baby today - it's already May 4 where I am. Leaving her no choice but to call it Leia GrinWink

ByeClaire · 04/05/2019 03:08

Love anyone but Andrew (ABA) Grin
I think most families have an ABA
I can totally see Meghan st the Met Gala. Kate - not so much.
I adore the silver skirt Princess Mary is wearing.

ByeClaire · 04/05/2019 03:09

And I think Baby Sussex was born on the 2nd or 3rd but wont be announced until later today (the 4th).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/05/2019 05:22

If Meghan’s EDD was last Sunday, then the Max she’ll be allowed to go over without induction is 10 days. So given bank holiday; perhaps an induction is booked for Tuesday, if the baby isn’t here already and we’re all wasting our time speculating.
No idea why Harry made that announcement about the NL then changed it 2 days later....

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/05/2019 05:25

Silver skirt is fab. Mary does Glam so well.
I’d love to see Kate in some clothes like this. Just slightly more loosened up rather than full fashion forward

powerful speech by Sophie on premature babies and blindness

Meghan would do well to model herself on Sophie. She has really grown into her place in the royal family and made it her own.

Some early mistakes were made but she learned from them. She has thrown herself into being a full time working royal whilst remaining largely invisible to the gossip pages of the gutter press. She and Edward look pretty solid and the papers eventually got tired of ridiculing him and leave them pretty much alone.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 07:57

Sophie is lucky social media wasn't around at the time she made her mistakes otherwise she would've come in for far more criticism than she did. How an experienced PR professional like her fell for the Fake Sheikh will always puzzle me.

I had a royal dream last night - I bumped into Kate on the bus and admired her handbag!!

That's very true, Queen.

The Fake Sheikh thing was a blunder, for sure.

But she has seemed to maintain a healthy balance between good works and personal privacy. I wonder if her closeness to the Queen helps?

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 08:06

DM has a photo of Keira K with hand on bump, headline says she's copying a "trademark Meghan pose". Huh? Since when was Meghan the only woman to hold her bump when she was pregnant?

Incidentally, I was looking at the HRH Duchess Kate blog the other day and got sucked down a wormhole of looking at old posts. There are several photos from when she was pregnant and had had firmly on bump!

I imagine her closeness to HM does help @Myimaginarycathasfleas but also, to be frank, I think she didn't have the glamour that attracts the press attention, and that's not a bad thing. The post-Diana years must've been a bit weird and I think there was a lot of behind the scenes reinvention in the royal family. It's really only since the advent of Kate that media attention has increased back to a fraction of the level it was when Diana was around.

curly why do you think it's 10 days max? I was left until a full two weeks over (with very firm dates as it was an IVF pregnancy, I was the same age as MM and the baby was measuring large at 32 & 36 weeks.) Induction isn't then instantaneous after three days nothing was working and I had a section.
She has my sympathy - she is probably 7-10 days over by now a point at which I was shouting "get out" at my bump without the half the world watching on.

Spudlet · 04/05/2019 08:17

They let me go 12 days overdue - it was Christmas so they refused to induce on Christmas Eve. Though I suspect a Duchess will get different treatment, it is possible that the Bank Holiday might put a delay on things.

NaturalBornWoman · 04/05/2019 08:29

If Meghan’s EDD was last Sunday, then the Max she’ll be allowed to go over without induction is 10 days.

She may not consent to induction, it isn't compulsory is it?

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/05/2019 08:41

It isn't @NaturalBornWoman. For all the talk about "letting" and "allowed" it isn't like women are strapped down and forcibly induced. My yoga teacher went 4 weeks overdue, though that is pretty rare!

Of course there's also always the chance that Meghan wasn't yet 12 weeks when they told people. Maybe she was just 9 or 10 weeks but would be hitting the 12 week month in Australia so they thought they should announce it sooner rather than later.

With my first baby I went over by 10 days, was given 3 days of pessaries which didn't work either (by this time 13 days over), was then given an induction. My ds then took 2 days to appear and was born 15 days late. Inductions don't always work immediately do they? The poor woman could be in the midst of all that palavar - awful if so. My son was born so late that he went into the next academic year group lol, from being due mid August to early September.

latedecember1963 · 04/05/2019 09:04

Clankboing, I had just the same experience as you with DS2. I ended up with a CS and you've never seen such a furious looking baby who was well and truely miffed that he hadn't been allowed to choose his own entrance date!
We'd arranged for DS1 to stay with our neighbours and I think they were beginning to think we'd done a bunk and that they'd have to adopt him!
