I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

That ghost one linked up thread is amazing and would look fab on you.

Dress 3 I think has too high a neckline and I don't like the arms. You are gorgeous btw.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 16/04/2019 22:55

You're not fat! You have a lovely hourglass figure & dress 1 swamps it and is not the right length for your great legs (but the ankle strap shoes do not do anything for you as they add bulk to almost everyones ankles).
Dresses 2 & 3 don't do it either.
I would go shorter or the opposite -floor length.
A great tip I was given when I was shopping for my wedding dress was to try on something different to your usual or even something you don't like as you'll be surprised.
I was as I went for a dress that I didn't particularly like at first on the hanger (& said the wedding dress shop assistant that I wasn't sure but she said just try it) as soon as I put it on, it was THE DRESS. My Mum, Gran Sister & my friend all went wow in unison & my Mum nearly started crying & said I looked beautiful. Even other customers complimented me on it.
Right off to look at more dresses for you!

InglouriousBasterd · 16/04/2019 22:56

You look bloody lovely! And the red shoes are fab.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 22:56

Just came across this maybe with the red shoes, red nails, red lippy and a sparkly hair piece

Re: p&p... do what I do. Order from 25 dresses from catalogue shops (next, very, jd Williams) and return in bulk.

They must hate me. But does the job.

I like the next one I posted because it's striking, would be great with red shoes. You're not fat, but boho really only looks good on waifs with no boobs. Girls with curves must work with them, not drown them. You're trying to minimise yourself by not wanting to look like a bride. You are one. You don't need to look like you stepped out of a horse drawn chariot, but there's no harm in feeling like it.

WineIsMyCarb · 16/04/2019 22:57

That's nice RealHousewife.

Listen to RealHousewife OP!

The cut of dresses 1 and 2 are beatiful on you. I really like dress 1 but I don't think the colour is great on you.

I've also sent you a pm.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/04/2019 22:59

I liked dress 2. I also like the one RealHousewife posted

WineIsMyCarb · 16/04/2019 22:59

I am your DP - please will you come downstairs and help me take the recycling out? Grin

Im getting confused now. But advice do not let the shoes shout at the dress distracting from it.

When we went bridal shopping we also went into bravissimo and bought the underwear. So both the bride and mother looked great on the day. Our underwear lifted the bridal dress and mothers dress well fitting bras are so important.

1.you are not fat.
2.out of the 3 ,dress 2 is best (especially shape) but you can do better.
3.keep the shoes!!

RandomMess · 16/04/2019 23:05

Perhaps a more structured fitted dress with a jacket type floaty thing or pashmina to style it more you?

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 23:05

Yes.

What else have you ordered. Pretty kitty seem to do same colours different styles by the way

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 23:05
