I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

The red dress you just posted is beautiful. Please buy it and a couple of others in a similar style but in different colours.

You’re going to look fab!x

showmethegin · 17/04/2019 08:56

Just ploughing in to agree with all the PPs. You seriously, honestly, have a lovely figure. So in proportion. If I were you I'd go into John Lewis or somewhere like that and get a personal shopper, they will be able to pull things that suit you, that you might not choose yourself. And dresses can look so different on than on a skeletal model online.

You will look stunning on your day, congratulations!!

Pinkarsedfly · 17/04/2019 08:57

I might go into John Lewis then - do I have to make an appointment for a personal shopper?

LizzieSiddal · 17/04/2019 08:58

I don’t think the red dress is low cut at all!

LizzieSiddal · 17/04/2019 08:59

Yes you do need to make an appointment. I’d phone up and tell hem your wedding is in two weeks! They’ll fit you in as an emergency.Grin

Sunshinegirl82 · 17/04/2019 09:00

Honestly OP, as you're giving so many different types of dresses a go I would try some things you wouldn't normally choose, I really think you'd look fabulous in something with a bit more structure.

I understand where you're coming from on wanting to waft. If always wanted to be able to pull off those terribly chic cigarette type trousers with a giant hat and big sunglasses like I'm sunning myself on the French Riviera! Sadly I look like I'm in fancy dress in that sort of thing!

cindersrella · 17/04/2019 09:04

I have just had a quick look on next... these dresses are lovely and that's only a few of them. Have you scanned through eBay or schpock. (That is of you don't mind seconds...) personally it wouldnt bother me

I'd possibly rather buy something second hand rather than risking something from China as I've had a few dresses from the A's they were cheap and my gosh they can be shocking

Yes, get on the phone to JL for an urgent personal shopper appointment!

sashh · 17/04/2019 09:17

I would pack up the dresses you have and take them to a good (independent if you can find one) underwear shop and see what they look like with a bit of help underneath.

Does it HAVE to be a dress images2.drct2u.com/main_product/products/ip/ip951/q07ip951504w.jpg

The Outnet can often have some gems too

Not sure what your budget is, I might have missed it. And sorry if I'm linking to sites/dresses already suggested, it's such a long thread I can't remember everything. Confused

Ellenborough · 17/04/2019 09:46

If you are going to John Lewis make sure it's a really big branch or they won't have the full range.

Ilovemysleepthief · 17/04/2019 09:52

Dress 3 is AMAZING! I can't believe others dont like it Shock

mummyhaschangedhername · 17/04/2019 09:54

That second dress you were wearing looked lovely.

I love the red dress you showed but not sure if was really a wedding dress, lovely though.

Sounds like you have loads of options, and OP, you're beautiful so stop stressing, you are going to look amazing!

Ellenborough · 17/04/2019 09:55

I love dress 3 too, but I do agree with pink that it makes her boobs into a bit of a shelf.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 17/04/2019 10:27

Absolutely do get a personal shopper, as someone said up thread their eyes will see the real you, what to disguise and what to enhance. Tell them how you feel in your head, exactly what you like and more importantly, don’t like and how you want to feel, then let them work some magic. I think you’ll be surprised and you’ll certainly get to try things you wouldn’t have looked at.

Very best of luck, I’m wishing you a wonderful day and even better new married life Flowers

NotMeNoNo · 17/04/2019 10:52

Pink I reckon try the bombshell one, the Reiss cream lace and the similar Karen millen one. Smile

PotterHead1985 · 17/04/2019 10:56

Now I'm nosy OP. You said you don't have small feet and I love your shoes so can I ask what size they are? Tell me to p off if ya want Grin (I have biiiiig feet)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 17/04/2019 11:01

If you want floaty get something with a floaty skirt but fitted top half. Much more flattering, and you can waft beautifully while showing off your waist.

Frouby · 17/04/2019 11:08

Oh OP you have a lovely, lovely figure. I am a similar size to you and your photos made me feel so much better. Because at 13st we are constantly told on here and other sites we must be massive heffalumps, but you have a lovely figure.

I got married last year at 40. I didn't want a big dress because I was 39 and 2 dcs and we were only having a small do and blah blah blah.

I found my frock in a charity shop in the end. Big fuck off flouncy number.

My best advice is spend a decent amount on underwear. It made a massive difference. My underwear cost as much as my dress, a bustier from Bravissimo but it made me feel amazing before I even had my dress on.

Pinkarsedfly · 17/04/2019 11:13

Sorry all - having an elderly mum - related emergency.

Will report back later when parcels have arrived though!

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 17/04/2019 12:37

OP - I think this one would suit your style.
You could change the white grosgrain ribbon around the waist, to a red grosgrain one to match your shoes.
