I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

At the bottom of page 5, @Blueuggboots posted a link to Bombshell London. If you haven't aleady, please take a look. The dresses are beautiful and amazing, and clearly make their owners feel the same.

Another PP mentioned Ghost. Again, check them out as their dresses are really good, flattering, excellent quality. They really know how to cut cloth.

Hello Fairy Godmothers!

What about this?

Hi op, remember you have already found "The One"

You're marrying him in 2 weeks....

The dress will find you, honestly :)

Belindaboo123 · 17/04/2019 05:20

OP you are NOT fat!

Have a look at Rixo - bit more £’s but it is your special day. Their dresses make you feel fab!

I am a similar size to you (weight) about 5’5” and last week wore one of these ‘Lucy’ backless dresses. It was XL sized. I have mahoosive norks Wink got loads of compliments. Backless dress meant My boobs were not straining could get one of those M&S lace arm cardi thingies that went underneath so I could wear a bra and a slip over the top and it looked like part of the dress from the back.

Plenty of options there to wear your red shoes too. I’d put your hair up and get make up Professionally done and enjoy the day! Best of luck to you!

Pinkarsedfly · 17/04/2019 05:22

I have a couple of Rixo dresses...I love them but they don’t make me feel bridey.

I’ll have a look though.

Have you ever come across these OP? Pricier as an option but if you spend less in P&p Wink

I'm the same shape as you and bought one recently.

The cut is great, and they manage to be flowing and structured at the same time.Very flattering and beautifully cut.

I think only in shops in NIreland but online delivery from those.

DontFundHate · 17/04/2019 06:01

Dress 3 is my favourite so far, the length is better on you as the dress sits on the slimmest part of your legs.

Also you can get p+p £ refunded if you have returned all the items ;)

Belindaboo123 · 17/04/2019 06:09

Love the red dress! V cut front with big boobs will be flattering.

Belindaboo123 · 17/04/2019 06:11

Saturdaycartoon- those dresses look fab. I need one for a wedding soon so i’m off to peruse.

Pinkarsedfly- there is a beautiful white dress there which would look fab with red shoes/boots Wink

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 17/04/2019 06:13

LOVE the bombshell hq cream one. Flattering, sexy, wedding/y. Get your wallet out!

I’d streer clear of the wafty floral stuff. You’ll inevitably look glowing and beautiful but I reckon they aren’t as unusual and ‘centre of attention’ enough.

I think you'd look stunning in this. I saw it in the shop yesterday and it looks beautifully made.

RedForShort · 17/04/2019 06:36

I am against popular opinion but I really likes dress 3 on you. Haven't quite worked out if that's because you had a face in the picture and you're beautiful.

Also like the first dress you posted yesterday at 23:23 (green one).

Sunshinegirl82 · 17/04/2019 06:37

The bombshell dresses are fantastic for an hourglass shape. They have the fitted top and deep v you need with big boobs. Plus the material is structured. Loose or floaty material can just add to the bulk of the boobs and isn't super flattering. Similarly things that are fitted up high or up past the bust can give the mono boob effect so usually best avoided!

If you can run to a bombshell budget wise I would order one and give it a go!

Ellenborough · 17/04/2019 06:53

Pink you have VERY similar taste to me and apart from that peach monstrosity please God don't pick it now I've said that I have loved EVERYTHING you've linked to. Especially that deep red floaty tea dress.

I think I've got the measure of you - I also love loads of those Rixo dresses but if you don't feel wedding-y enough in them then fair enough.

If you sent back a light grey dress because it drains you then you probably also won't feel right in anything peach, flesh, natural, cream, grey-green or pale blue.

Also if you feel that your boobs are too 'out there' then avoid anything with a high round neck. A V, a scoop or a wide/deep boat will be lovely.

The bright green tea dress with the patterned strip under the boobs is gorgeous but I predict (from bitter experience of being drawn to that sort of thing) that it will make your boobs look peculiar.

Let me see what I can find.

Frumpypigskin · 17/04/2019 06:59

Have you heard of Pretty Eccentric - the clothes are lovely and a b it different.

SusieSusieSoo · 17/04/2019 07:00

Op you're not fat at all. You have a lovely figure. I can't rtft as have to get ready for work but a few thoughts: high necklines are no good if you have boobs. You do, you need something that shows them off/makes the most of your assets.

Floaty dresses don't work for someone with shape like you have. You need more structure.

Second the pp's who said get a new bra from bravissimo. Can't beat a good Freya in my case.

I got a random email from John Lewis a few weeks ago (no idea why!) with wedding dresses by phase 8. They might be too weddingy for you but it might be worth a look or just going round the shops looking for dresses with an actual waist, a bit of shape & structure. I ordered 5 summer dresses online. None of them are right - it's so hard to tell online - but I can spot a dress that suits me hanging up in a shop from the queue to pay for dc's stuff. I know I'll have a much more productive trip if I just do go into the actual shops.

Coast dresses tend to go in in the middle/have a waist. Some phase 8 (but don't be put off by those that don't), Wallis, principles in Debenhams (you have to fall lucky with both in my view). Or tkmaxx if you have the patience and a bit of luck.

You have a lovely lovely figure op but just be a bit more open to styles.

Someone once said - you do everything for that dress it does nothing for you - I think you might be in that camp with those first dresses - (might've been Angela Rippon who said that!)

Have a lovely wedding op. Thanks

MintyT · 17/04/2019 07:05

Dress 2 is lovely
You carry your weight very well
Please don't waste you life being upset about how you look. Remember your loved your healthy and your getting married x you will find the right dress just keep looking
Book a personal shopper - you don't have to spend any money, they will see you differently to how you see you
Good luck. Love yourself x

UCOinanOCG · 17/04/2019 07:18

I don't have any frocks to show you but I am cheering you on from the sidelines. You have a lovely figure and will be a beautiful bride.

Morgan12 · 17/04/2019 07:40

That chichi London dress previously posted would look amazing on you. With the red shoes and accessories.

Have you tried Joe Browns? I feel like that's your style.

crummyusername · 17/04/2019 07:41

Love that Bombshell one posted by sunshinegirl

NW2SW · 17/04/2019 07:42

Have you looked at Ivy & Oak Pink? Berlin brand, bit edgy. They have some interesting styles I think might suit you, full collection here, but you can also buy some styles on Zalando.

boredboredboredboredbored · 17/04/2019 07:49

I am following with interest too. Op I'm getting married in the winter aged 42. Second marriage and trying to find a dress is a bloody nightmare!! I'm loving the suggestions...

user1474894224 · 17/04/2019 07:52

The post with the two links one red and one green - these are both fabulous dresses and scream look at me. I hope you choose one of those. The Rico dress is a little meh.
