I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

LOL you can tell! I’m also flat chested but BF has big boobies and I know she dresses with a v neck to reign them in a bit, otherwise she looks like Madonna on a bad day!!

You have a beautiful figure for a frock my dear. AND I love the red shoes. You're on the right track with #1 IMO, but more skimming about the boobs - you have good shape, so don't hide it.

Truly. You are not fat. You look gorgeous in all of them. We just need to find the one that makes YOU believe that.

Would look good with the red shoes I think.

Another one saying get to bravissimo and get a really good bra. Everything looks better with a good bra.

Thank you @pinkarsedfly

Very pretty, not too bridal

Widowodiw · 16/04/2019 23:53

@Pinkarsedfly I’m sure it didn’t look awful. Vivienne of Holloway dresses are made very well and I’ve never seen anyone in one that looks awful so maybe give it a try.

If you don’t mind me saying you are going for safer options which are just not saying wedding. As a previous poster said this is the first time you are marrying this man and you should have a fucking fabulous dress for you to enjoy and look back on. We didn’t have a regular wedding but I made sure I had a fab dress.

Have you tried any of these dresses on in front of a friend? We often see ourselves very differently to what we actually look like.

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 23:53

I’m going to try to sleep now, I’ll report back when the parcels start arriving.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and for taking the time to look for dresses for me. You’re a lovely lot.

Page 3 of thread theres a lovely Ted Baker dress posted. Heavenly ladder - i think it would look fab with your red shoes and something red on your hair/necklace.

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 23:55

Wodowodiw you might be right, maybe I am playing it safe.

I’ll be dreaming of dresses tonight!

I was an older bride which does make a difference as I wanted to be a bride but budget and body shape ment I went for nice cream dress rather than the princess I deep down wanted to be, disappointed also that I wasn’t slimmer at my wedding but I’d just had a baby and was grieving so really focused on what really mattered. Don’t invite any frienemies or iffy work colleagues just a room full of people who genuinely love you. When I been at weddings of people i adore I just see the love and future happiness not the extra inch on hips or boobs. My friend hated how she looked in her wedding photos as she has poly cyst syndrome and has put on 3 stone in last few years. All I remember is crying with pride and thinking how lush she looked but I can understand your troubles, I’ve always been jelous skinny brides but try to focus on the man that clearly loves you xx

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/04/2019 23:56

Tips for boobs:

Fitted top, not floaty
Proper v neck - dress 2 looks matronly because the V isn’t deep enough - go lower!
Don’t wear something with drapey sleeves. Batwing/flared elbow sleeves/kimono style - it all adds bulk to your boobs. Fitted sleeves or sleeveless/strapless are fine, but nothing with any extraneous material.
Also, decent bra fitting.

Final one from me. Who says it has to be a dress?

You are gorgeous and your figure is fabulous! I've noticed you seem to have a 'style' you go for. You've got great boobs so a fab bra will simply enhance your already gorgeous figure.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 17/04/2019 00:05

Love that one happy.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/04/2019 00:15

What about something like this? Probably not that colour, but the brand tends to do the style in a couple of colours/fabrics. I've had a couple of pretty dresses from them (also an hourglass).

Lots of great ideas. I had to put DS to bed but agree the dresses you tried are nice enough but more guest than bride. The Reiss one linked just below I think would be the thing, a bit longer, cream, slightly more structured but still lovely detail, with great shoes and soft hair. Congratulations and good luck!

Imstickingwiththisone · 17/04/2019 00:34

Ohhh i love that dress mrst4!

That is fabulous enough for a wedding!!

Time40 · 17/04/2019 00:46

Dress 1 is lovely, and you look great in it.

Dress 2 is nice. It's very pretty, and it suits you.

Dress 3 ... in my opinion, is a disaster. You're right - your boobs do look like a bolster in it.
