Yes I will @Ella I only need to lose 7kg and I’ll see how I get on with 800 cals for two days. If I find it too hard going then I can do 5:2 which will mean more weeks to lose the stone...the only reason is that I’m not travelling with work (so far) in May which is unheard of. It’s incredibly difficult to diet when I’m travelling as frequently as I did in the last few months. Once I’m “maintaining” it becomes a lot easier to manage one low cal day/week or every other week depending on weight fluctuation. I did lose 3 years ago nearly 2 stone on SW and it was painfully slow...6 months. I kept it off for 2 1/2 years by being careful but ultimately very low fat eating and the SW meals are not for me. I’m still a stone lighter now which is amazing since I’ve really not watched my diet at all in the last 8 months.
Yes I like potatoes but I like avocados and olive oil even more. I actively dislike things like baked beans and apart from the occasional fish n chips/pizza I’m not keen on other junk food popular in GB (hate kebabs and McD’s).
Bread and Wine are possibly my main weakness and even those I can manage to reduce to treats rather than daily. I’m feeling in the right head space to do it without feeling too deprived but I have an additional motivation: DH. He’s put on a lot of weight since giving up smoking last year and he’s said he wouldn’t mind joining me twice a week. His health and mine are important as we are getting older and apart from vanity I don’t want him developing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes as he already has genetic HBP (rare disease).
He’s also a handsome man and I know he’s always been blessed with not having to worry about eating whatever he likes till now...in his early sixties. I think his confidence is suffering with the recent weight gain.
He has a real sugar addiction and hopefully with my support he can knock that on the head too.

Anyway I’ll let you all know how we get on.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/05/2019 16:49

I have just spent the whole afternoon sorting out my wardrobe. That means getting all the winter stuff out, putting away the really heavy stuff and replacing it with summery stuff from the boxes under the bed. I have thrown out a bin bag of stuff and another two bags for the charity shop. I still have loads of stuff! Part of the problem is that it isn't suitable any more...I left a job in London for the wilds of Cornwall and the same clothes just do not do!

I was hoping I might find I needed some lovely new kit, but I fear not Maybe another pair of shorts....

whiskyremorse · 06/05/2019 18:32

@Fuzzy love a good sort out. I've just packed up a couple of ebay sales from clothes not earning their space in the wardrobe lol

twosoups1972 · 06/05/2019 22:48

Just catching up!

Loving all the kimonos, so pretty!

And all the spring/military style jackets, I am very tempted. Is the Wren sold out now?

@huff jacket looks really great on you and btw I love your hair Smile

@soy - the Mint Velvet jacket from last year - I considered buying one but didn't in the end, it's a lovely jacket. Wonder if they do anything similar this year..... Hope the dieting is going ok.

Dd had a lovely birthday weekend and was spoilt rotten. But she really appreciated everything and really deserves it. She seems so much happier than a few months ago, the medication seems to be working well. She's got her A Level English coming up soon and really needs an A for her first choice university offer. She's working around a high B level at the moment but she's working hard, writing loads of essays and taking on board the feedback from her teachers. She's so glad she can just focus on one subject this year.

It was lovely at the hotel having some 1-to-1 time with her, it was just what she needed. I can't believe I've got an adult!

@ella happy birthday to your DS and hope his injury is healing well.

twosoups1972 · 07/05/2019 07:48

I know I’m late to the party but.... Amie joggers, worth getting? Do they look smart or casual on?

grannycake · 07/05/2019 08:37

The Amies are definitely casual. I know everyone loves them but I find them much too big for me but I am short and slim and the XS are huge. I use them for cold evenings in the camper but they do nothing for me - just make my rear look huge

twosoups1972 · 07/05/2019 09:24

Thank you granny maybe they're not for me. I am also short with slim legs. I've been looking for some trousers to wear as an alternative to jeans. I've got a few pairs of culottes which I like but want a full length trouser.

Laska2Meryls · 07/05/2019 09:30

twosoups I love my Amies and wear them all the time, ( but usually just for home wear) bought 3 of the black/ white striped in the salefor £15 last year and dyed them. so now have, one grey ,one burgundy and one blue ) black stripe .. I'm 5'5" and don't find them baggy l..egs quiteslim at ankle.. they have washed really well and kept their shape

ilovecherries · 07/05/2019 09:31

Haha, I won’t say anything bad about my Amies, I bloody love mine. I have worn them shopping, pub lunch, cinema, but not out in evenings. I do tend to war with a nicer quality jumper though, not a sweat.

Laska2Meryls · 07/05/2019 09:38

I propose a New feature: ' what I am Hushing etc. today' ( so we can see how and get ideas of How we are wearing and styling things ..)?
I'll start .. it's a work day so ..
What I am Hushing (etc) today :
Navy Ivy, M&S dyed blue leopard leggings, Chester trainers (again!) JLMustard cashmere cardi and a mustard bright pink and navy flower print scarf..

Laska2Meryls · 07/05/2019 09:42

This is the scarf M&S .. nice eh? But don't know if they still have it ..

Hushistas getting themselves summer ready!
ellanotafella · 07/05/2019 10:46

Is there a discount code around?

ellanotafella · 07/05/2019 10:47

I love the amies but couldn't wear them out of the home! I admire those of you who do!

grannycake · 07/05/2019 11:26

I'm also all about the Hush today. Black trousers (can't remember what they're called but they are the ones on the Brand Alley sale, the moment), black jacket from last year's summer sale and white top with black stitching from sale a couple of weeks ago. Was also going to add the Love scarf but forgot it in my rush to leave. Altogether quite a smart work outfit for the numerous meetings I have today. Black sandals are from Gabor though

dontcallmelen · 07/05/2019 11:45

Soups so glad that dd had a fab birthday, sounds as though it’s just what you both needed. Onwards n upwards now hopefully for dd she seems to be in a much better place.
I’m with granny on the amies, I think we are a similar build they made me look like a clown 😳I was sooo disappointed I was desperate for a pair, I have some drapey leggings from next which don’t have as much fabric, they are comfy but wouldn’t wear them out though, but have seen pics of others wearing them & they look great, so maybe scratch the itch & see what you think.
Laska & granny you both sound very chic.
I’m wearing Topshop jeans, yellow vest & navy v neck Boden jumper & slippers am indoors & attempting bit of a spring clean.

dontcallmelen · 07/05/2019 11:46

Soups maybe some chino type trousers? lots of them about at the moment.

ilovecherries · 07/05/2019 12:02

I’m in my....ta-rah...running gear! I took my new boobs on their first 5K. I was terrified, but they were fine. Me, less so - 12 weeks today since my last run and at 61, that’s a long lay-off. I was 15 minutes slower than on 10 Feb, when I was really at my best as I was running 5 times a week in the 12 weeks pre-op to get my cardio vascular system in the best possible nick. But hey, I was out there.

ilovecherries · 07/05/2019 12:37

Hush have lost the plot. £189 for a sundress? That will get a couple of wears a year and covered in suntan lotion (yes, I know, my spf obsession rises to the surface every May). I know it’s hand embroidered but I bet it’s the kind of thing only ‘influencers’ will wear.

Hello all - sounds like you had a lovely (if chilly/ bracing) bank holiday. Glad ella's DS is recovering and enjoyed his birthday - and soup's DD and the spa day (really glad she is sounding so much happier, and feeling able to put in the hard work for the exams)!

Sounds like there are lots of v chic fellow hushistas around!! Love laska's scarf (plus yesterday's French style!), and the sound of granny's monochrome outfit. Also a huge fan of navy and yellow len (and glad your boat party went off well - sounds like you made a great outfit decision for a chilly evening)! And never's jacket - so glad you kept it in the end. It looked great on you, and really spring-like. justilou - that "australian hush" looks great..sound like you've got loads of lovely clothes from there already!

I'm still giggling at laska's summer jacket hunt...it is the meryls all over again.. (though I agree if you are keeping the blue wren, some other style in khaki would probably be more versatile. Like the look of the military one.) And on jackets, ella's bomber looked fab, and not at all menacing-puffin-like (lol @ libby Grin ). And i still think huff looks like the epitome of "slouchy and cool" like the hush model in the Wren. It is big, but I agree it looks fab like that.

soy - thanks for your comments! I have had a v busy time (I'm self employed, which is great in terms of flexibility, but not so great when All The Work comes at once, and projects that have been sitting dormant for ages spring to life...) so yy, I thought I deserved some treats... It's better now, though and I had a relaxed weekend, and am doing not as much as i probably should be today (hence spending ages catching up on the thread..). I think you're wise waiting for a bit of non-travel time to start hard-core dieting...it is so difficult to stick to anything with working lunches/ dinners! And also having your DH doing the same must be good support.

fuzzy - [waves] Hope you and your DH are recovering (mentally and physically..how is you DH?) - it must be a difficult time. Probably quite cathartic to have a good old wardrobe clear-out, though. I know what you mean about having clothes from a past "life"...seems a shame to throw them out, but also they are taking up space Grin. I need a DD like cherries so we can swap clothes!

I've been having a bit of a tidy of wardrobes too and several bags to take to a charity shop when I can be bothered to lug them on the bus.... I now have a System (dresses and jackets/ cardigans in one cupboard, trousers, skirts and hanging tops in another, and I've done that folding thing for drawers, so you can actually see everything at once rather than having them laying on top of each other. Game Changer). Unfortunately, I also have too many clothes - so not everything strictly fits in my System...so I have an overflow of jeans on top of my pyjama basket, and I have to have some things In The Wash at all times. Anyway, we'll see how long it lasts. I was definitely in the Zone yesterday. I was even sorting DH's pant drawer - until he told me to "leave my sodding socks alone and come and have a drink"...

I'm wearing a blue and white stripey jersey dress which I found in my wardrobe audit, and those new veja/ toast trainers which arrived at the weekend, and are beautiful. But the leather is quite hard so i'm wearing them around the house to try and soften them a bit which seems to be working. I also decided I was actually freezing, so have the green hush oakland sweatshirt on top, which probably doesn't go, but i don't think is too bad. I hope I'm channelling "nonchalant strolling along a Cornish beach" - though am probably more "only got out of her pyjamas under duress".

NotAnActualSheep · 07/05/2019 12:47

Oh, well done on the run cherries - really glad you're getting back in the saddle, and that your boobs coped! And yy, I thought that about the dress. It also looks REALLY long, so you'd have to spend more getting it taken up. It is nice, but seriously?? Bet it'll be reduced to about £50 in the sale...

FuzzyPuffling · 07/05/2019 12:59

Thank you for asking Not...we are sort of ok. Both really tired which is a manifestation of everything. DH's face is till paralysed but he is off the morphine and yesterday he managed to raise his eyebrow a tiny bit, which is positive.

Loving your "nonchalant strolling along a Cornish Beach". This is exactly what we are doing this afternoon...for which I will be wearing black walking trousers, a T shirt and a cosy hoodie. And walking shoes. Possibly not the fashionable, floaty look you were thinking of!

ellanotafella · 07/05/2019 13:02

Hush have sold out of some items I'm keen to try (the wren jacket being one), do they restock ever? Or once gone it's gone?

ilovecherries · 07/05/2019 13:14

fella, it’s always worth checking about 9am for returns. If they are planning an actual restock it usually tells you that you can pre-order.

OP posts:
NotAnActualSheep · 07/05/2019 13:15

Oh goodness fuzzy - that does sound hard for your DH and you. Though glad he's off morphine now, and sounds like he's slowly getting better. Not surprised you are both tired Flowers . Yes - your outfit is much more practical! I think I'm thinking of a Fake Cornish Fishing Village full of celebs and trendy young things down from London for the weekend. Rather than actual real people... My mind is a bit odd.

ellanotafella -annoyingly it is often once they're gone there gone Sad. I reckon they slightly understock some things to create a "buzz" about certain items (I had that discussion with a customer rep in the autumn about another sought-after thing). Though there are often returns for quite some time afterwards. If you look on the website at about 8.30am (I think -though others may correct me if I've got that wrong?), that seems to be when the returns go up. Good luck! (I think laska -and possibly huff had some Wrens to return in multiple sizes - so you may be lucky??!)

NotAnActualSheep · 07/05/2019 13:16

Ah - cross posted with cherries!
