Ah, that’s hard, ella, done it more times than I can count, and it never gets easier really. Hope everything is straightforward.

soyo you may have a blocked salivary gland I have had this on a couple of occasions and it's quite scary the first time. I find sucking on lemon slices works really quickly - couple of hours and it all settles back to normal

ilovecherries · 02/05/2019 11:18

That doesn’t sound nice, soy. I often get ‘spring face’ at this time on year, with random puffiness. No idea what causes it, my GP guesses it’s a response to tree pollen or oil seed rape, but it eventually subsides.

On the subject of teeth, I am STILL in pain from post surgery, which was 11 weeks today. Dentist can’t find any reason for it at all other than the teeth had some sort of response to intubation trauma, and the nerves are still jangly. GP has restarted my amytriptiline, which I was on for years for nerve pain, to see if that helps it settle. But I don’t think I’ve had one day yet where I haven’t had to take at least one dose of paracetamol for pain.

Oh no Soy sorry to hear that. Hope you get it sorted and make a speedy recovery Flowers

ella hope the op goes smoothly and you are feeling calm.

twosoups1972 · 02/05/2019 14:08

I had a quick Hush browse in JL earlier today. The colourful stripe Marina skirt looks lovely. I will wait for a discount code though. I normally stick to above knee skirts/dresses because I always think I look frumpy in longer lengths.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 14:21

They are really very slow in doing a code this time round!

ilovecherries · 02/05/2019 15:36

I think I may have overdone the gradual tanner. I'm a bit orange. It hasn't streaked though - bonus! Hard to get it right with those moisturisers - put it on yesterday morning and didn't see much difference. Reapplied this morning and have spent the day looking at my arms in horrified fascination.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 15:39

If I feel a bit too orange I scrub myself in the shower. Seems to lift it a bit :)

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 15:40

I find it hard to get away from the smell of fake tan tbh.

dontcallmelen · 02/05/2019 15:53

Ella hope all has gone well with the surgery 🤞🏻
Soy hoping doc got too the bottom of what’s causing the swelling.
Cherries crikey that’s a long time to be still in pain with teeth poor you & yy the fake tan, it’s sooo hard to get right I’m rubbish at it can never seem to get the right shade on my legs.

Laska2Meryls · 02/05/2019 15:57

Stuff came and has gone straight back!!

Green Wren Jacket , I do like it, I think , but it was huge so I couldn't really tell , !! ,( I ordered the 16 going on the size of the 14s - which was small- in the winter denim jacket..) .. A 12 is coming tomorrow, hopefully that will be good ( a blue in 16 is also coming as pounced on it this morning, but that will be huge and going back also .. )

Relaxed trousers in Black.. quite frankly I could get better quality in Primark!! Badly cut and dreadful fabric..

Lareno wide top, I agree with soy here , its just a blue top, fabric isnt that special.. just Meh really..

So , thats it!! more refunds !

Soy Hope your face has gone down a bit.. i got bitten once by my eye and my face came up like a balloon. Docs gave me steroids.. Id never had them before and they made me feel so brilliant, like being 20 again ! (even though I looked like elephant man.. ) I'd have liked more, but I believe that effect doesn't last long .. Grin

Also Soy , I just picked up DH from ferry, (for his first day home after retirement..!! ) and the boat was chock full of HDs.. They've arrived for the bank holiday weekend!!

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 15:58

So the jumpsuit came. I think its going back. There is something 'flappy' about it. Its ok. Not wearing the best shoes. I dont love it. I think its the light denim? Excess material on legs.

Its also hard get a good picture.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 16:02

Also pretty expensive at £85

dontcallmelen · 02/05/2019 16:28

Oh well Laska least you scratched the itch, ooh crikey all change at Chez Laska, who knows what exciting adventures await, you may get that longed for camper van🤞🏻
never crikey that’s a lot of money for fabric that is so thin & you are right quite flappy looking.

twosoups1972 · 02/05/2019 16:30

Oh dear, no successful Hush purchases today.

laska how is your dh feeling? Is he emotional?

SoyYo · 02/05/2019 18:41

Thank you friends for all the lovely support messages. I was at the surgery waiting 2 hours to see a Dr (which is why I haven’t been in a long long time). She thinks it’s tooth related though she had a look and couldn’t see any abscess. It’s still swollen boooo 😥 but reluctantly she prescribed amoxicillin (reluctantly because “GP’s are not meant to deal with dental issues”) yet even she couldn’t tell if it was dental. If I press my face just under the cheek bone and near my nose it feels sore, but no toothache. So weird. I’ve got a dentist appointment tomorrow midday too but I go regularly anyway and he took x rays less than 5 months ago...I’m dreading some kind of root canal work as a result (have only needed it once in my life) so we shall see and @cherries you have my full sympathy too.
Fingers crossed the swelling will go down. I went back to working this pm as I had some TC’s but refused to activate the camera as I look dreadful. Maybe you girls are right and it’s something completely unrelated to teeth. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

Anyway how is your DS doing dear Ella hope he’s out by now or are you still waiting?

Sorry @never but I agree that the jumpsuit doesn’t do much for me either and it’s ridiculously overpriced. Shame but it’s like a thin chambray fabric and quite average looking...

@laska celebrate with your DH! A major milestone and start of a new exciting chapter in your lives. Once you adjust you’ll love having him around. He sounds like such a great person. And glad you agree with me on the v neck top. Meh. But look forward to seeing you when you get the right size jacket Smile

@len I know the silk stripy shirt you mean! I get them on the sale so maybe I’ll get lucky and pick one up on my size later in the season. I do have rather a lot of silk shirts though! Have you decided on outfit for Sat night yet?

@soups I’m short too but the Marina length is fine. They’re being very mean with their codes and I was lucky to discover an old 10% off voucher in my inbox I had never used so was happy that keep. Love the happy stripes. So versatile and easy to wear. It’s weird really as it’s a good quality chiffon, unusual and yet not that £ compared to say the chambray jumpsuit that @never tried and £20 more expensive than the rather meh v neck blue top. Shhh maybe best not highlight that point or have them increase their prices yet again in which case it’ll be the end of a shopping relationship for me except at sale time.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 19:50

Thanks @soyo. I completely agree about the jumpsuit. It is nothing special.
Its annoying when they cant tell you for sure. Its not red and swollen is it? All you can kind of do is monitor it over the next few days I suppose. Flowers

neveradullmoment99 · 02/05/2019 19:55

Interesting though @soyo I do think the price of clothes has really gone up. I was actually looking at jumpsuits and the likes of mint velvet and other retailers are actually pricing pretty high although hush has to be one of the most expensive ones. I do think they are being mean atm.

SoyYo · 02/05/2019 22:44

Yes never very mean! And you’re right everything going up possibly helped by sterling fall from grace since the youknowwhat shambles.
My elephant man face remains unchanged. I suspect something nasty with a tooth as I had to take ibuprofen earlier as it felt a bit sore so early night for me, feeling v tired.

Ellapaella · 02/05/2019 22:49

Just got home an hour ago with DS after a very long day. Poor DS. 4 hours in surgery and three hours in recovery. His knee is fixed but he has 8 weeks ahead of absolutely no flexion or weight bearing - this is going to be so tough.
He was desperate to come home tonight so given he has a nurse and a doctor in the house they let him escape. He is all settled in bed now reading his book after a nice curry. He has to ring me every time he needs something and I've had a few calls already to fetch different things and scratch toes etc. I think I have a full night shift ahead of me!
Good job it's a BH weekend coming up so I can be around to look after him.
Thanks for all your well wishes you lovely people in my phone 😘

Ellapaella · 02/05/2019 22:50

And hope your face is all better soon @SoyYo

justilou1 · 03/05/2019 01:55

@soy - the pain you describe where you press sounds like sinuses, but then again I suspect sinus and teeth nerves get all confused anyway. Whenever I am getting a sinus infection the first symptom is tender front teeth. I have decided this whole aging thing is no fun at all. My teeth are getting more sensitive and needing more and more expensive work done. (It’s not like I haven’t looked after them, either! I’m resentful - where’s the gratitude?) Anyhow, with these sorts of things, it sounds like they almost want it to get worse so they can commit to telling you where it’s originating from.
Glad DS’s knee surgery went well, @Ella. Curry makes everything better! I hope my son never has to have surgery as I suspect he would be the worst patient ever! You should see him when he’s got a paper cut! Practically crying out for an ambulance! (And these are ones he’s noticed days after the event.) Anyhow.... I am going to get back to finishing my assignment work. Sigh....

dontcallmelen · 03/05/2019 09:06

Ella a very tough day for you & poor Ds, hopefully recovery will be speedy💐
Soy also hope you get to the bottom of what is causing the swelling poor you as well💐
Yy clothing getting more expensive, seems to have been a big jump in prices everywhere.

Huffthepuff · 03/05/2019 09:18

How are you feeling today @SoyYo ?

Your poor DS Ella ☹️ I hope he recovers quickly. I'd quite like a long time in bed but I can't imagine how frustrating it is for someone of his age who just wants to get up and out. Hope he isn't in too much pain after the surgery
