Haha Soy yes it would dispel the guilt a bit if it got an outing, do have a couple of pashminas that would go with it.
🤞🏻Hush will be nice about the discount.

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 13:55

Yes @len I thought cream would go nicely with a gold sequin dress. Just had a look on Amazon and this is the kind of thing I mean, lots to choose from if you search “pashmina” but this one seems viscose/fair trade and lots of good reviews plus not ££
www.amazon.co.uk/York-Shawls-Handcrafted-Pashmina-Shawl/dp/B01N4N4G5F/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?psc=1&s=gateway&crid=29JXWFI1E5ZOT&keywords=york%2Bshawls%2Bhandcrafted%2Bpashmina&sprefix=york%2Bsh&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1556715046&sr=8-1

Anyway would love to see a photo of your outfits to help you decide Wink

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 13:56

But if you already have some that would work then it’s a no brainer! At least worth trying on to see if it would work...

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 14:00

Soy I think I might have, I bought quite a few when we were in India few years ago will check see what colours they are.

NotAnActualSheep · 01/05/2019 14:05

Just popping in briefly so I don't fall off the thread again... been manic with work - bah.

soy you look brilliant in all your things, to be honest! I know what you mean about the dress, though, and its always difficult to tell from a photo. The print is lovely though, and it looks very wafty.. But yy, the skirt is definitely the best of the 3 - it is soooo happy!

Ditto to huff - I really like the Greek Widow dress - I have it in the pink/ red zebra (similar to ellllle's amazing jumper) which is, lets face it, a bit less versatile than the black, and I agree its probably not the most flattering style, but is so easy to wear and will be great in the summer. The skirt looks great on you, too, and I'm also v tempted by the striped dress..

cherries - Go You! Thats such a great thing to be doing - I'm so happy for you! I'm joining the guinea pig/ badger queue too Grin . Hope your DD is feeling a bit better. What a bummer.

ella - I'm so glad you had a great time in Rome. I'm not sure if i'm a white trainer person, but i feel tempted to try to find out. I'm loving the white striped hush canvas shoes - so i may branch into something more durable...

len - a party on a boat sounds very swanky. All your options sound lovely - I think the wide trousers with sequin jacket would look amazing though!

soups - thats a lovely thing for your DD to want to do! I'd probably go with cherries' suggestion of getting them printed off at Boots or similar...its not too expensive - particularly for "normal" sized photos and much less faff than getting photo paper/ ink etc. You can do it online and then collect - or i think they post them to you. We do it with digital photos every now and again, and its only 20p or so per photo from memory. Or there's an app called "free prints" which sends a certain number to you just for the postage cost, I think, which has been recommended by friends.

Hello to everyone! Have a great day all...

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 14:14

Hi 👋 @not sorry you’re manic with work (I know just how that feels. Today all my work colleagues in Europe are having the day off with Workers Day holiday so my inbox/diary are sooo quiet! Not complaining though and using the day for admin and chatting on thread).
Thanks for the kind comment. The dress I’m returning would look fabulous on you actually.
And the orange/red print is amazing! I’m not able to wear this seasons Alvers (already tried it in the leopard print) because it’s much more voluminous than last years’ Greek widow and yes...hangs off boobs again but the fabric was so lovely and cool.
I’ll be trying the same print in the wide leg trousers at some point in the future though as I love the unusual colour combo.

Speak again soon/when work calms down a bit.

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 14:37

Few pics off what I tried so far the second pic the dress is a dusky pink colour.

Dh calls this one my piano dress, second pic it’s actually black/gold top so would go with black trousers.

Oh, gorgeous clothes, len

OP posts:
SoyYo · 01/05/2019 15:14

They’re all beautiful @len (did I tell you I love sequins too? Wink
But I think it’s between the gold dress with a pashmina (fab fab!), the piano dress (classy) or the sequin top with wide trousers (subtle fabulousness). Purely based on this being a spring evening do.
I think the colourful sequin jacket is more “winter festive” and the beautiful pale pink dress says more “wedding/smart day event” than evening to me. Whereas you’d find it hard to wear that amazing gold sequin dress during the day?
Go for the gold dress or the sequin T with wide leg trousers.
The piano is so beautiful too!

Decisions Decisions Hmm

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 15:18

Soy am inclined too agree with you, the pink dress I have worn to a couple of weddings & the sequin jacket does seem a bit more winter wear & definitely wouldn’t wear the gold dress during the day, will try on again tomorrow when I’ve sorted out shoes.

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 15:19

But there again...the piano is the kind of chic dress (like the black) that you could also wear to a smart day event or wedding so purely on the basis that sequins are usually worn in the evening (unless you’re a super fashionista who manages to dress them down with trainers and denim or a plain white shirt) my vote is still for the amazing gold dress you’ve never worn or the sequin t with wide legs.
The rainbow sequin jacket to me is more of a winter blast rather than spring?
Hope this gives food for thought.

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 15:20

Yes agree @len. Great minds and all that 👍

Ellapaella · 01/05/2019 15:21

@SoyYo love the marina skirt on you - hope you keep it.
@dontcallmelen the piano dress gets my vote! 😍

twosoups1972 · 01/05/2019 17:35

Just catching up after work.

I popped into Aldi today and bought a ton of chocolate which I have hidden and am working my way through Grin Love the chunky milk hazelnut but have also bought caramel Moser Roth to try. Also bought a diffuser at cherries' recommendation - they didn't have the rose one, in fact there wasn't a great selection at this branch but for £3.99 I decided to try no 18 fig and cassis. Looks very posh, will report back on the smell!

soy agree with much of what's been said, the skirt is beautiful. Did you say that is a 10? Is the waist elasticated or fitted? I might try it if the ever do a discount code! I like the navy top too.

melen lovely clothes! I really like the first dress in your first post, is it silver? The top is really lovely too, is it really black/gold? Is it like that dress that went viral where everyone saw a different colour? Grin

twosoups1972 · 01/05/2019 17:38

melen and sheep thanks for photo advice. I've bought her a small scrapbooking album from Hobbycraft that she can decorate and tomorrow I'll go to Snappy Snaps and get the photos she wants printed out. I'm now wondering whether to also get dd a personalised photo gift (eg cushion) in addition to her other gifts (watch and necklace) but I don't want to overshadow dd3!

twosoups1972 · 01/05/2019 17:39

@laska if you want white trainers, have you tried Kurt Geiger? They usually have a good selection and probably cheaper than the Hush ones.

Huffthepuff · 01/05/2019 18:05

@Laska2Meryls did you order the wren khaki jacket? I'm very tempted. Also going to order the black marina after getting several comments today at work about the navy striped one. I wore with a white tee and red embroidered jacket from Monsoon. Terrible pic but you get the idea!

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 18:24

Soup lol at the difference colours, the dress is pale gold & the top is black & gold.

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 18:29

I also have this, it’s a bronzy/pink colour in silk it does have a matching coat it’s what I wore for dd’s wedding, so think I’m straying into Mother of the Bride territory now & getting carried away😂 just that I don’t get to go many posh ‘do’s’ anymore.

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2019 18:44

Len sorry for Enabling but have you looked at Bombshell dresses? Wink

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2019 18:45

more here for events Len I linked the wedding edit !!

Laska2Meryls · 01/05/2019 18:49

I Adore this one 😍😍 and here are real people wearing them !!

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 18:56

@soups and @ella thanks for the marina ❤️ It’s deffo a keeper. Yes it’s elasticated waist and not tight in the 10 I got 👍
@huff love the stripy red cardy + stripy Marina combo with the white t shirt. Such a versatile skirt! I also think they’re less voluminous than they used to be in older seasons which I think works much better. I remember trying the black and returning eons ago, then trying the snake last autumn and noticing just that little bit less fabric volume made all the difference on how it looks on me at least.
@len stick with the sequins or the piano dress, it’s exciting to get the glad rags out! MOB dress lovely but you need the fun element for the boat party 💃

Just back from Pilates feeling tons better for a good stretch. I’m doing a vegan Spanish lentil pot thing for dinner (trying to be healthy if not completely low carb, and also having veggie stir fries for lunch with DS2). @soups lots of chocolate Aldi in my cupboard with DH around! Trying to ignore! Wink glad you enjoyed yours though

SoyYo · 01/05/2019 19:03

Ive always liked the look of the bombshell dresses @laska and I reckon the shape would suit me but unless you have a wedding/black tie event I can’t ever see myself wearing them for work for example...I know some of them are meant as smart work wear but I’d feel too self concious at work wearing that type of tailored fitted dress...it’s like some women I see at some work places wearing really high heels. I admire those who can wear with confidence but it’s just not a look I can carry off confidently.
