Most flattering Capri trousers ......thought I would share

Ignoring the bid-tastic store these come from - these are the best trousers I have found for yonks and are perfect for apples as they just pull on without a fixed waistband.

They are like leggings in that they need an arse covering top but the EASE of wear is something special. (Sighs in a good way)

Anyhoo really flattering, wash well and in a whole array of colours. Not sheer at all either. Oh yes and they make legs look thinner too unlike jeggings.....

Drumroll..... Roman Originals cropped stretch trousers.....

😁

I ordered these yesterday (albeit the 3/4 length ones) with the 99p next day delivery and VCODE 20% off discount code from voucher cloud. Just arrived and they are indeed most flattering (5ft6 and a size 16). In off to order some more if Mumsnetfers haven’t already wiped out stocks. Thanks very much OP!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 02/04/2019 13:19

Thank you OP, thank you. These appear to be my holy grail...

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 02/04/2019 13:50

Yay! Haribo lovely to hear they work for you too. I am considering the 3/4 length ones too 🙂

doctorboo I haven’t found anything more flattering along these lines so maybe worth a punt. 🙂 The darker shades are even more flattering.

@PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair I’d better get me bank card out!

Ellieboolou27 · 02/04/2019 20:33

Made a detour on way home to try them and they didn't work for me Sad to be honest I'm just too fat at the moment! On the plus side it has spurred me on to start a diet tomorrow Smile

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 02/04/2019 21:17

Sorry to hear they weren’t for you Ellie- did you try the crops or 3/4 ones?

Oh my god, does everyone know Roman is an embarrassing store? I didn't even realise it was an actual shop!
I bought a Roman dress from Debenhams over a year ago that I LOVE. So a few weeks ago went on their website and ordered two more, got them delivered to work and was waving it about going 'oh yeah it's this Roman Originals' brand thinking it was just some online shop that I had discovered.
Oh cringe! Were they all sitting there wondering why I was shopping in old lady land?!?!?
Oh man, I even said I wasn't sure on one if the dresses as I thought it was a bit old ladyish. Cringe.
Oh no, I also said (in the one I wasn't sure about) that I felt like I was dressing up like my mum. I bet they had a right giggle !

That's a very outing story.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 02/04/2019 22:02

sparkle I wouldn’t worry - they probably have never heard of it 🙂

Just to do a quick recce- these are the brands/stores my mother raves about 😀

Isle at Edinburgh Wool Mill. They also do a faux Joules ‘inspired brand called ‘country rose’ too.

Joules- loves a jaunty mash up between stripes and florals and all her dreams come true here. Mum also made a pointed reference to them ‘washing well’.

QVC- ooof there have been some delights from there let their be no doubt.

Per Una although the wide necks get on her wick so less have been purchased of late.

Roman Originals when the need to shimmer at turkey and tinsel events seizes her.

Klass for puffy anoraks and an accommodating sleeved top.

Actually she is quite marvellous 😁

I tried both Grin
I've got very large in the last year, had I been my normal size 12/14 I think they would be perfect, I did buy a lovely top though and a pair of sandals from............pavers 🤣🤣 wedge heels, shoes seem to be all that fit lately 🙄

Ellieboolou27 · 02/04/2019 22:10

Klass was also in my garden centre, along with wool mill and roman, actually saw some quite nice tops. They seem to like quite bold colours and florals😂

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/04/2019 22:12

Having looked at the website link, I wonder is it essential to always stand with your feet waaayyyy apart when wearing these?

user1474894224 · 02/04/2019 22:45

No.....I have been searching for a dress to get married in for months. Have bought and returned many. Have just settled for one I really like. You can guess where it's from. I had never heard of them....they just popped up on my FB feed. (Was a little perturbed that my 70ish age mother approved of the brand... She does go cruising. Lol and pulled out her 'roman' dress to show me.) Please tell me I'm ok to wear it to my wedding. I can't face more searching.....(off now to check out the Capri pants as I too am a 5'3 apple).

I am seeing a "born before 1964?" Advertising banner here! Anyone else?

thenightsky · 03/04/2019 11:11

Pic of said dress user ??

user1474894224 · 03/04/2019 13:28

But what if it gets slated!! 😂

thenightsky · 03/04/2019 13:31

We are all lovely, kind and fluffy here in S&B user. This is not AIBU Grin

I'm actually looking for a wedding guest dress myself and need ideas.

user1474894224 · 03/04/2019 13:38

www.romanoriginals.co.uk/floral-square-neck-dress-41022ivo it's not a typical wedding dress. But my daughter (9) has a cerise dress and I wanted to fit in with her. (She choose hers as pink is her favourite colour this month!)

Ellieboolou27 · 03/04/2019 14:04

I really like that dress, prefer the black version though

thenightsky · 03/04/2019 14:14

I like that too. I need more coverage for my bingo wings though Sad

I'm sure I've seen a 'Roman' shop somewhere - maybe at an outlet near me.

doctorboo · 03/04/2019 14:33

@user1474894224 It’s lovely 😊 x

user1474894224 · 03/04/2019 14:56

Thanks ladies.

@thenightsky how long until your wedding?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 03/04/2019 14:59

My trousers arrived!! I have tried on, the fit is good, length is great and a flattering shape though slightly crepey material - I'm guessing they will dry quickly and not need ironing!! Will definitely need long tunic/top though!! Think I will end up wearing lots do v pleased!! Thank you everyone!! Now off to recommend to SIL!!

Sarcelle · 04/04/2019 11:42

Mine have arrived too. I am a big size 12, 5 ft 1, Hourglass (sand sunk to the bottom though).

I got the black and navy pairs in sizes 12 and 14. Both sizes fit. I am keeping the 12s for weekends, the 14s for work. The length is very good on me, more cigarette pant. A bit extravagant to keep all 4 pairs but I find trousers hard to fit so they are keepers, and a good price.
