And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

I can’t see the problem with her eyebrows?? I was expecting to see a Fiona Bruce/Kylie mash up but they look fine to me, I think she clearly has Botox, but it’s well done.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/02/2019 23:56

HM heading back to London on the train from Norfolk
I love her coat.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/02/2019 23:59

Absolutely love this outfit on Queen Maximain Jordan
Seems a bit odd that there is no one from the Jordanian RF with Max....?

That's an Ali McGraw in Love Story vibe she's channelling there ^^

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/02/2019 00:05

Looks like Kate had her gown customised.
She should have gone with the original; it’s perfection.

Digressing a bit, but I live that 70s vibe on Maxima.
Thanks for the Ali McGraw heads up @calloway.
Now need to go and see the film!

And Ali McGraw today is utterly radiant!

oh that original mcqueen dress is even better you're right Curly. Less prom like. I wonder why they bother adding ££ with bespoke when it's better as it is? To avoid risk of clashing with anyone?

Paradyning · 12/02/2019 05:32

I'll probably be hung out to dry for this but on reflection, I don't like her dress Shock
I think it's rather dated compared to the dresses worn by others at the do and the shoes don't go.
So sue me!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/02/2019 05:51

I like Kate’s dress; it looks better in movement than in stills though.
But those artificial flowers on the shoulder look cheap.
I think she should have gone with the original pistachio as per the designer.
I suspect the dress was upwards of £10k, possibly closer to £20k.
But as pp said, she is showcasing British design around the world...

mrscampbellblackagain · 12/02/2019 06:01

I would have preferred her jimmy choo sandals with the dress rather than the romys. But she did look very beautiful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/02/2019 06:54

Showcasing British design but still spending ££££! I prefer the original design to the flowers but it's a very bridal/bridesmaidy dress.

Charlene looks lovely there. Her plastic surgery isn't so obvious so her face looks more natural. I always love her in a red lip.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/02/2019 07:03

Maxima's visit to Jordan is a working one as she holds some sort of financial role with the UN. So we may not see her with Rania.

Charlene always looks happiest when away from Albert!

Notmyrealname855 · 12/02/2019 08:18

Wow! Charlene looks so happy - plus in her own clothes completely non-princessy (I mean that in a nice way!). She doesn’t seem like the type that’d like being constantly on show. I hope she’s happy with Albert... (I think we all know she’s not, but hoping she’s happy at least)

ajandjjmum · 12/02/2019 09:07

I went to see Love Story on my first date ever - a real weepy at the time!

queenofarles · 12/02/2019 10:25

Queen Maxima's taste sometimes is a bit too OTT for my liking , but this is just wow! love the old Céline bag .

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/02/2019 10:38

I think Maxima carries off her OTT style by sheer force of personality. She is very charismatic and outgoing so can get away with clothes and hats that would look ridiculous on the likes of Kate or Sophie. The brown outfit upthread is fairly low key for her though!

BettyBoo I've been reflecting on Kate/botox. Looking back at the pics at the Baftas, you're right, her eyebrows are fine. I think it's certain photos where her eyes look a bit funny and that's when you think 'botox'.

I have noticed it in a few pics recently. I'm not being critical; I agree it must be a nightmare to be a famous woman in today's world with all the constant scrutiny. Has anyone read a book called American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld (based loosely on the life of Laura Bush). In one scene, the main character (wife of the President) is encouraged to have a face lift by her advisors.

On an aside, are there any famous women who haven't had anything done? (HMQ, Princess Anne....?)

latedecember1963 · 12/02/2019 11:41

I've read American Wife, a fabulous read. 😊

Calloway · 12/02/2019 11:43

I love Curtis Sittenfeld.

OlennasWimple · 12/02/2019 12:46

TBH Maxima's style is pretty understated by Latina standards Smile

Paradyning · 12/02/2019 12:52

Most of the high level euro royals look like they've had something done. Only CPV perhaps has avoided for now. But who knows.

Boxlikeahare · 12/02/2019 13:25

I don’t think DOC has had Botox. I think she takes care of herself, facials etc but reckon it’s just the angle and/or make up.
