WideWebWitch · 02/07/2007 07:45

This is week two of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

forgot to post everyone's stakes sorry, feel free to post again why you're doing this boot camp (yeah right, more like a holiday camp for some of us )

Thanks, that is really helpful tortoiseshell. Dh's whole knee is still really inflamed but I think that sort of rash is under it
Your gorgeous dcs are much more fun to look upon
Your dd and mine have the same Boden Sale duffle you know

It's unashamedly shouting 'I'm BODEN' isn't it!

With me, the first thing was the bite, then my whole arm went NUTS - swelled from elbow to wrist, I got some antihistamine cream from the doctor (still b/feeding which caused some shenanigans), that went down, and then the target rash appeared, which freaked me out a bit - I thought my body had been taken over by aliens!!! It started in the middle, then got little lumps round it, which joined up over the course of an evening to make the ring. I thought I had gone mad, and so did dh when I told him!!!!

Blimey I wish I could put on some sun cream! There is no sun and I am going mad with this rain. Roll on summer hols.

Need a kick again really but off swimming now diet rubbish still perhaps a swim will help. Got a new job today so that will sort out my life.

I've lost my Moron It might be at the swimming pool where DD has lessons but I fear it's gone and I'll have to buy another one.

I have been running lots this week. I no longer ache for days after running 5k so hurrah for me and my walnut-cracking thighs. (kidding!).

Water good. Sunscreen non-applicable.

Too many late nights. Will I ever go to bed before midnight? I seriously doubt it.

t/shell - I have a horrific chicken story that I may share with everyone later

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day. I did a spectacular amount of walking today - out all day along the beach in the sunshine. Lots of water and herbal tea and not too bad food wise except for a huge cream cake I ate on the beach (I know, I know, I didn't even enjoy it). Dh is now away until Monday so it's no wine, sensible food and guilt free MN for me! DS has finally gone off to sleep (is it right that they become unsettled again when they are learning to walk or is it just another reason in a whole catalogue of reasons..?)and all is well with the world....

Now I want curry and wine! I get the feeling this weekend might not be alcohol free after all!

Actually was going to ask you if the post mortem had shown anything tortoise?

Batters it is a four month secondment working on nursing projects in a large teaching hospital in Liverpool (an hours commute). I am pleased to be going back into the NHS and being part of a team agian will be good after so long virtually (have a business partner) working alone which doesnt suit me at all. It is four months where I know what money is coming in unlike my consultancy which is up and down so will be stability for me and my three dcs.

I read you dds comments to my dds by the way (12 and 8 and they cried with laughter and said they totally agreed!)

WWW great menu there and salivating at the prawns and indian food. I am going to start a 14 day detox courtesy of Carol Voderman on Monday.

Duchess well done!!!!

batters - 20,000 steps in one day? wow! The first (and so far only) day I wore my pedometer it showed about 800 steps when I checked it at mid day. I didn't wear it the whole day, but imagine I would have clocked up less than 2,000 for the whole day. Tracey Beaker is popular in our house, too. I think your dd's comment was fab and I am having a snigger at the thought of marina's dd coming out with Tracey Beakerisms. She is growing up fast

glitterfairy, you sound like you've really taken the boot camp ideals to heart - and good luck with your new job

MI - so many of my colleagues have got sinus problems this week. I wonder if the weather has anything to do with it?

www, what do those £9.00 berries taste like? (I belatedly caught up with your cinema thread - what a result!)

batters, your dd has a point! Well done on the 20,000 steps I know what you mean about wrinkles seeming more pronounced as one loses weight I found myself thinking yesterday if losing weight means I am going to be a skeleton wrapped in saggy skin I'd rather be fat

Marina, sorry to hear about dh.

GF, congratulations on new job

Yesterday was a good day for me bootcampwise. My horrid cold seems to be clearing now too so I am looking forward to a busy, active weekend

Think I'd best confess that my week has consisted mostly of eating and drinking. I have managed two gym visits and a pilates class but not much else. I am going out again tonight and then I am on the wagon.

It has been lovely but I am all partied out. I am too old to be a party animal!

Lots of fruit, veg and salad next week. Early nights, water and refocussing.

Well done to all of you who have not strayed from the path of virtue this week. Will catch up on all your tales over the weekend as I haven't had time to keep up with this thread.

I was told once you hit 40 you have to choose between your arse and your face, so i'm doing skinny 30's and comfortable but less wrinkly 40's lol
