WideWebWitch · 02/07/2007 07:45

This is week two of the fifth boot camp of 2007 everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

forgot to post everyone's stakes sorry, feel free to post again why you're doing this boot camp (yeah right, more like a holiday camp for some of us )

Evening all. Well, the weekend has passed largely without incident and I have decided on a new bootcamp objective for myself.... I seem totally incapable of going through a single day without "treating" myself (today it was two rachels organics rice pudddings). Ok, so I'm lucky enough to not need to lose weight but the amount of cake/chocolate etc I pack away can't be good for me. So. No more treats (except for mother & baby Tuesday mornings). Anyone got any pointers on how to suddenly develop willpower?? Apart from that had a lovely day on the beach with ds who loved the sand. Dh home from conference tomorrow (Motherinferior is your dh's conference at all interesting - do they really need to go to all of them?) so MNing will once more be somewhat curtailed..

Am holding out for the week end veil....

took the kids out to the new Indian restaurant that has opened just round the corner from our house, first time we've taken them to an Indian, and they LOVED it. Ds1 who is ultra fussy didn't have the MOST balanced of meals, but I don't care, he enjoyed the experience, and now proclaims that he LOVES Indian food. Dd and ds2 had poppadoms, naan, rice, chicken korma, rogan josh, aloo gobi, and dd even had a fair bit of lime pickle! Ds1 bypassed the 'curry' bits, but loved the poppadoms, the naan and the rice. So nice to be able to just wander out to the restaurant, ds2 got screechy after he'd finished gobbling korma so I just brought him home, put him to bed while the others were finishing. Ds1 wants to go EVERY Sunday now!

Mmm, that sounds nice WWW.

I had toasted bagel, prawns in marie rose sauce with lots of salad and then tuna, salad & new potatoes for dinner. May also have eaten some biscuits. 1 glass of wine at school mums social last night and some jolly nice puff pastry cheese & tomato things.

Today I've had a toasted bagel, tomato & mozzarella salad & ryvita and an ice lolly. And much less coffee than usual. But more water as I ran 3.5k of hills this morning.

Sunscreen is on. I feel really good. And I've lost 5lb since I started running a few weeks ago.

Even better though, I bought some knee-length running pants about 2 weeks ago and they are now far too big.

MI - 60 lengths Well Done!

Thanks Winnie . At least if you've finished off the Shiraz it's not sitting there waiting to be drunk today!

Duchess, how vile. Glad all is better chez Marina (have just sent you sycophantic email re how fabulous you are doing evening cooking, btw, speaking as knackered commuter).

I did swim yesterday WEARING MY FLIPPERS! Quite marvellous. Did the full 60 lengths with them. Errrrrrand then fell asleep after a fortifying glass (and its friends ) of wine (ah but it was fair-traded, you see, Virtuous Political Act) at lunchtime. Will draw rather big veil over last night's takeout.

DP has bogged off to another conference today, so no swimming this morning.

swedishmum, the proper name is OMRON Sobernow renamed it I got mine on Amazon.

Yesterday was ok until I finished off the Shiraz and ate a packet of marmite crisps!

Back to it today though.

Can someone please tell me where to get a moron? I googled it and got some strange websites!
Dh has just gone off to work for the week minus my make up thank goodness, so want to look remarkably better by the time he comes back on Saturday. Real boot camp week for me this week!

After a completely shitty week (hens, too much work as pre-sch Chair, my business lost a client, DCs being horrible, tree falling down etc) I have at least been reunited with my Moron. It was at the swimming pool. So there's something!

SMall steps but positive ones are good winnie and I am pleased you had a good evening.

AM hvaing a lazy day because of no personal trainer but need to start my packign to move house. I move in the middle of my first week in my new job bit of a challenge but I am sure I will manage somehow.

Sobernow, I too would feel lost without my Moron

I succumbed to the wine. I had one and a half glasses of red wine whilst I watched the Blue Dahlia and it was lovely but I've woken up this morning with a horrible headache

I am feeling very motivated this morning. I've lost more weight My skin is looking better finally (after horrible cold) and a whole host of sanctuary products bought yesterday mean I have been pampering myself indulgently

TheDuchessofNorks, I am so sorry about the hens. How horrid. When I was pregnant with dd I was housesitting and a fox got in and the ducks and hens were massacred. The guilt haunts me still.

SimplySparkling, thanks for thinking of me
Glitterfairy, I agree it is positive that dd has a weekend job which she has managed to stick to for 5 weeks. It is small steps.

winnie Thinking of you. I don't know what to say about the situation with dd except to offer my support. On a different topic, I find that lunch can last until lunchtime if you copy a colleague and have a banana and a cuppa around 11am. I also keep a packet of brazil nuts and some seed things in my desk drawer for when I get a munchies attack.

Duchess I kept chickens as a child. We used to have the odd one taken by a fox but luckily not more as the farm dogs we had would keep foxes out of the garden for us. It must have been horrible for you to see and clear up.

I've been good and have done some exercise this evening. Dd had scouts at the beach so dh and I took the dog for a walk for an hour and a half. I'm enjoying my glass of wine and will be good and head for bed very shortly.

not a good time for chickens it would seem... When I was a kid I had a pet chicken who was trampled by the other chickens in the breakfast feed rush.
The weather has been terrible today, raining non-stop so no walking done at all. How's the suspected Lymes disease? Clearing up for the weekend? Having a dh free weekend so bought smoothies, Grazia and red wine. Just found out, courtesy of Grazia, that although 1 inch shorter than 'super skinny' Courtney Love, I'm 5 pounds lighter. I'm actually rather disapointed with myself for how pleased I am by this. It turns out I really am that shallow. Still got crap hair though. Enjoy your evening!

Oh Duchess I am really sorry how absolutely bloody awful! That is really bad.

Winnie hope your dd contacts you and is ok. At least she is still getting to work. I am having a sneaky wine or two tonight.

WWW I am green with envy of your day and your diet sounds incredible once more.

OK. The chicken story.

Our chickens live in a an old brick built outdoor loo. It has a small window, above my head height, that is covered in chicken wire. A fox dug under the wire to get into the pen (the wire goes 2ft into the ground btw) jumped up to the window, somehow pulled the chicken wire off and got into the hen house with my six hens. So yesterday morning, I opened the door to the hen house to be greeted by six dead chickens, minus their heads, blood and feathers everywhere. The fox had managed to get out but hadn't been able to take a single kill with it because the gap in the window is much smaller than a chicken. I've had one of the hens for 4 years so I'm quite sad to lose her. And I've lost 12 hens this year already.

I AM VERY CROSS

I am trying to stop myself from going to buy wine...I've not had an alcoholic drink for two weeks {shock] but I am rather tempted. Tonight I have the choice of watching The Black Dahlia or continuing with a thoroughly hilarious George Melly book (I know I sound like a woman much older than 37 ) but both require wine I think.

Have had a good day bootcampwise (so far)

Marina, thanks for asking about dd. She wass supposed to come to supper last night and didn't and today her phone has been switched off. Which probably means she's off her face somewhere but she has work tomorrow so is likely to arrive (as is her custom) 5 mins before her shift and ask for a lift.

Report
WideWebWitch · 06/07/2007 19:51

Glad dh is sort of better Marina, albeit depleted.

I'm also glad I've made you all feel MUCH less guilty about your food by posting my day of excess yesterday

The Goji berries look and taste like cat food. They're bearable with nuts, it's these ones here but from Tesco, they're £8.99 and we WILL be finishing them. But I won't buy any more. I keep forgetting aobut my wheatgrass in the fridge too, must do better, must do better.

Lovely day today with dd, we went to a cafe where she had choc cake and I had a coffee and then we went to a restaurant for lunch and I ordered about 5 starters to share: crayfish salad, tomato and mozzarella, huge mussels, mixed vegetables, anti pasti, garlic bread. And I had 2 glasses of wine and wanted to go to bed afterwards but instead dd and I dozed together on the sofa at 3.30 while ex dh went to get ds from school, all very blissful.

Tonight I've so far had some octopus, tomatoes, mozarella. No wine yet but will do later. And I've been RUBBISH about walking MUST do some this weekend.

Dh is much better today thanks but it's been rather a chaotic 24 hours chez nous after the burglar alarm started chirping persistently at 10pm last night. Now fixed, was tempted to ask Mr ADT if they also do wasps' nests [grrr] emoticon, as we have a squat in the porch
Hope you are feeling better today MI and tigermoth
I have done feck all apart from energetically empty the understairs cupboard for the alarm engineer, and shout a lot at the Baghdatis/Djonkevic match this afternoon.
Am working tomorrow so will get a make-up walking opportunity, marching through a deserted City.
Dh says he feels too depleted to take the dcs swimming (FFS you'd think the tick had gnawed his leg off ) or to see the Tour de France
Onward and upward though and back on the exercise bike of Hell next week
Will revisit later in the hope of hearing more about glitterfairy's new job/how things are going with winnie's dd/duchess' chicken horror story
And reading about www's sumptuous repast makes me feel less guilty about my seafood linguine
