Why are my bras going this to me (pictures attached)

My bras are so uncomfortable! They dig in and make awful marks around me.

I ve been fitted by bravissimo and wear fantasie bras. They are a 34G and I’m a size 18.

They are cutting in and giving me sores. I itch along the redness during the day.

Whenever I mention about having a 36 band instead they always say it’s too big for me. I can turn the bra around on me on the 34s that I have.

Surely bras are not suppose to make this much redness on you?

I'm a very simple size (16-18) and in bravissimo they fit me in a 34gg.

I much prefer a 36g. So much more comfortable.

I also can only get on with one bra. Panache tango plunge. Otherwise, the underwire just doesn't fit and digs in.

It could be the bra rather than the size?

PaddingtonMare · 20/01/2019 20:52

Ouch! That should not be happening! Try getting fitted somewhere else or using an online calculator to work out your size. To see if they’re right. Do your straps need loosening?

Do you have any allergies? Since being pregnant I can’t stand any elastic or the binding stuff next to my skin, makes me itchy so red.

BakerBear · 20/01/2019 20:53

I ve had many different brands over the years from bravissimo and they all mark me like this. It’s just recently I have been getting the sores as well as the marks

I didn't find fantasie comfortable and always go up a size. Could you have a fungal infection there? There is some whiteness on pic.
Best bras I've found are panache

BiscuitsMcSnugglepuff · 20/01/2019 20:55

Definitely way to tight! That must be so uncomfortable! Go up a band size (and if the cup is then too big, try going down a cup size) and try different types of bra maybe?

peachypetite · 20/01/2019 20:55

I'm a size 10-12 and wear a 34 back. I'd say you need a different bra size, it's completely too small by the looks of it.

abbsisspartacus · 20/01/2019 20:56

Are they cutting in? What's the band made off? Are you umm sweating more than you used to? (Really no polite way to ask that but if it's sweat related not fit related thr advice is different iyswim?)

reallyanotherone · 20/01/2019 20:56

Are they underwired?

I can’t wear “normal” bras with underwire, lace, padding or sructured.

I wear shock absorber sports bras. I have some crop top soft cotton for around the house and if i’m not doing anything more than gentle walking, but sports bras at all other times.

BiscuitsMcSnugglepuff · 20/01/2019 20:56

Also, I’m a bigger busted lady and love a Freya deco 😊

Pinkkahori · 20/01/2019 20:57

I'm an 18 too and wear a 36FF or sometimes a G. My bras get loose after some wear but i can't tolerate a 34. It's just not comfortable.
How do you feel in a 36? Does it give you enough support?
I think life is too short for uncomfortable bras.

BakerBear · 20/01/2019 20:57

It does have abit of whiteness on the sores. I thought it was just part of the soreness that keeps getting a slight crust on it.

If I don’t wear a bra for 2 days the sores go right down

ILoveMyMonkey · 20/01/2019 20:58

I'm a size 16 and wear a 36DD. Your bra is far too tight if it's doing that too you. Like a previous poster said go up a band size and down a cup size and maybe try a different brand.

WallisFrizz · 20/01/2019 20:58

No, that should not happen. Go up at least one band size and down a cup if you need to.

WillardJStevens · 20/01/2019 20:58

Are you allergic to the elastic?

ShatnersBassoon · 20/01/2019 20:59

34 can't be right, they're obviously cutting in. Is it difficult to get them done up?

PetuliaBlavatsky · 20/01/2019 21:00

I have exactly the same with my bras regardless of how well they fit. To be honest, I have just put it down to the excess flesh (I'm a size 18 too) I have now that gets squashed in order to get a firm fit.
I did find some m&s bras that had a kind of silky material covering all the edges which were very comfortable and didn't hurt but this was a couple of years ago and they don't do them any more.

scratchbass · 20/01/2019 21:00

I'm a size 10 and wear a 36 - have you got anything to measure yourself with?

OlennasWimple · 20/01/2019 21:00

Looks like you need some cream on the sore skin, go without a bra (or wear a soft crop top) to let it heal up completely and then wear something that doesn't make you react like that.

Are you allergic to elastic / latex? You could be having a reaction to the material in the band, as well as it being too tight

Also, is the band too narrow? That would make it dig in more than a wider band

MayFayner · 20/01/2019 21:00

It doesn’t matter what anyone on here or anyone in a shop says your size is. You shouldn’t be suffering pain from your bra Sad

I would change to a 36 band if I were you. Hope it heals up soon! Put sudocreme on.

BakerBear · 20/01/2019 21:01

There isn’t enough support in a 36 after a few washes.

No extra sweating that I’m aware of.

Label says 66% polyester, 21% nylon, 13% elastane

PerspicaciaTick · 20/01/2019 21:03

If need be go to a big store, even M&S, and just try on a shed load of different size and shape bras. Forget about fittings and go for one that feels comfy and not too bouncy. I'd being going for something very soft and slightly looser until the sores have healed and you can then judge what you really need.

FelicisWolf · 20/01/2019 21:04

I'm a size 12 and wear a 34 bra. Have you measured yourself? Take a tape measure and measure under the bust where the bra sits that's giving you the problems. If you're getting red marks and sores then no matter what someone tells you it's obviously not right for you!!

FelicisWolf · 20/01/2019 21:06

Also don't don't forget that if you go up a size round the circumference then you need to go down a cup size. So a 34G will go to a 36DD

Pinkkahori · 20/01/2019 21:07

You sound very similar to me OP. I don't really think the 36 has quite enough support after a few washes but I've just decided to live with it. I feel miserable in a 34.
I find bra shopping a nightmare. I'm not sure I've ever owned a bra I've been totally happy with.

DianaT1969 · 20/01/2019 21:07

This isn't the cause, but I had red marks and sweat rashes when I used shower gel. I switched to soap and I don't get them. I also wear soft non-wired bralets some days, to give my skin a break from underwired. They don't give a great shape - slight mono boob - so I wear them on the days I have a baggy top or jumper on.
