Christmas and the sales are sadly over but winter is still here for a few months yet.

Come and show us your cosy knits and woolly hats whilst we dream of summer - everyone welcome, the more the merrier.

Yes Dry! It's about figuring out what suits you of the current trends and discarding the rest. And updating with accessories. It's definitely a fine line. But yay for sisters - no one else is quite as honest or knows your style as well (though it comes close on here ofc!)

Blingy aww that's lovely about your DD, she sounds so cool and it's great she has her own style!

Shop that's gorgeous, I'm so jealous of your long legs right now. It will look amazing.

My everlane order arrived. Fedup the wide leg trousers are a keeper! I was so surprised. They're high waisted and somehow don't make me look stumpy. Ok they aren't "my best style" or the most flattering trouser I could wear, but they're comfy and make me feel good. They look nice with (chunky) heels and flats. Actually can't believe it. I think I might even wear them to work with heeled sock boots, but they also suit birkenstocks.

Also got this cashmere wrap jumper which is just a really nice jumper that suits me. I love wrap stuff.

Anyway I would definitely recommend Everlane (except the packaging, essentially a brown paper bag, didn't stand up to the transatlantic flight and someone had had to sellotape it up - oh and taxes were $65 so it wasn't exactly cheap, but it was worth it).

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 09/04/2019 11:04

blair yeah it is pretty awful, I've taken to being what they think is rude when i force them to acknowledge me.I get a lot of sniffy comments about how i'm being rude or how i should be kinder but i'm sorry, they are the ones being rude by treating me as less than everyone else so they deserve it! I not one for confrontation but i'm not happy about being ignored because of a chair, that helps me get around. it's not right or fair.

Feeling quite fed up with my clothes right now, feel like nothing looks right or feels right when it's on so opting to wear the same few things over and over. I think i'm no longer loving the bright colours and want to be in darker things. That's what it hink is bothering me so i think i'm goign to clear out to the charity shop everything really bright unless i'm totally in love with it and then really think about what i want to replace things with. MAybe its my teenage goth rearing its little dark head again Grin

QueenCerise · 09/04/2019 16:41

ine don’t get rid of all bright stuff just yet. I reckon you may be wearing the dark stuff to hide if people are being horrid to you. Keep the bright stuff in case one day you think, fuck you, and are proud to be seen in a chair. Don’t let the haters get you down.

Agree about wearing what suits and discarding the rest. Also what feels comfortable. I’m never going to be comfortable in body con or stilettos even if they were the height of fashion. Also what suits you’re lifestyle.

I went to a fashion event last week and had 10 mins with a stylist. She was desperate to get me in a dress, boiler suit or skirt and more colour such as bright green and yellow! I was rather taken with a long skirt but like with the straighter jeans it means changing my tops and I’m happy with my blouses right now.

kittyhello · 09/04/2019 18:22

One ditto Queen in fact I'd wear my bright clothing so that people notice you, not that you should have to attract their attention, good for standing up for yourself. Hoe your appointment goes better than expected.

Blair Dry I know exactly what you mean re: style rut/know what suits you best. I'm happy on the whole with what I wear, I use summer to try out new styles and colours but I cannot see myself wearing cropped culottes this summer - famous last words Wink Blair I'm very tempted by Everlane but I completely forgot about the tax.

Queen I've got a khaki jacket from Banana republic which is very similar to yours, I've had it years and I wear it every s/s without fail, it's one of my favourites, it's my alternative to a denim jacket.

Lib great fedora and glad the building work is coming to an end.

Stokey how are you coping with yours? We had our kitchen done about 8 years ago it does become a distant memory although dh wasn't amused when I suggested doing a side extension to the kitchen Grin

Shop I'm glad your treating yourself to something nice, you blooming' well deserve it after the tough time you are having, it's lovely and such a gorgeous colour.

Marsha sounds like you're having a great holiday.

Blingy beautiful McQueen dress and very you, love the Chloe top and I imagine it will look fab with leather leggings. Your daughter's outfit sounds very cool European. Maybe she was doing her own people watching whilst you were on holiday.

Talking of brights I'm ready to dump the winter sludge and embrace colour.

Saw this in store and decided to order online:

Hush neon pink

was the Madewell tank I bought at the weekend

Dreamqueen · 11/04/2019 07:54

Has anyone on here had a tattoo? Shop? DS got one done last night & said tattoist said just put E45 on it!! I thought looking after it required more so I googled and am now totally confused. Any tips please?

Things here are much improved I'm happy to say. Fingers crossed. No style mojo unless you call a new pair of gym leggings from Asda style!!Smile

shopafrolic · 11/04/2019 08:49

Hey Dream I have a couple but my aftercare was minimal
tips here - avoid baths, he'll need sunblock on it for the first 12 months too. If in doubt - call the artist that did it.
Glad things are improving - I've been thinking of you. Hope the tattoo is the next step in an amazing journey for him.
Not great here. DF is refusing to go into a care home - meeting social services again tomorrow.

Dreamqueen · 11/04/2019 09:48

Thanks Shop, Yes he decided that semi colon tattoo will be his reminder for moving forward.

Thank you to all on MNV for kind thoughts at this time.

Shop sorry to hear about DF. It is difficult, thinking about you too.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/04/2019 08:11

Sorry to hear about DF shop it must be so difficult Thanks

dream i have...six tattoos and i always used bepanthen, you know,t he nappy rash cream, on them to stop the itch as they healed and yes shops right, no soaking the tattooed skin, plenty of sunblock and try to avoid touching it as much as possible until its healed properly, taking the scabs off as its healing can make you lose some of the colour int he ink

shopafrolic · 12/04/2019 08:41

Lovely anniversary meal last night with MrShop. I wore my new Raey silk skirt with my Dune black caged heels, and a cashmere longline sweater with some sparkles on the sleeves. Had on the cocktail ring I wore on our wedding day and carried the Gina clutch.
Amazing food, lots of lovely chat about how far we've come in 10 years and lots of plans for the future.
Down to earth with a bang today as we meet with social services to try and get DF to agree to nursing home care.

Dreamqueen · 12/04/2019 15:06

Thank you One It's good to get advice from people who you know, as internet advice can be so conflicted. Hope you're doing ok?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/04/2019 15:30

I'm okay, thanks for asking dream just getting by, nothign new really. I did see the neurologist the other day though and things are moving forward, im goign to be seeing a lot of different specialists and things and I'm now waiting on an appointment for an MRI so will know more once thats been done and the results are in. the doctor was.....very serious but she warmed up as the appointment went on. I think perhaps she was a little standoffish after i first mentioned my mental health, which is something ive found happens with a lot of doctors, they find it very hard to see past that but once we got further through my symptoms and how they cause issues and things, i think she could see very clearly that that is a separate issue and isnt anything to do with why i was there to see her

Longislandicetee · 12/04/2019 18:09

Love the Hush top Kitty

I am so glad you had a nice time Shop. I loved our 10 year anniversary. It’s lovely to wear those little things that remind you of such a special day.

I have been wearing my Chloé tapered trousers over the last couple of days. They were a great tip from Talya a couple of years ago. Love them. Wearing them today with YSL Breton cashmere sweater. I am absolutely loving my Alaia bag. Lightweight and beautifully made.

DryWhiteagainW · 13/04/2019 09:08

Gosh Shop I’ve had a good look at your skirt (missed the link before) it really is perfect for you. Do you have knee boots too tonwear it as in the photo? Brilliant buy.

I’m off to London for a family do. Am keeping my fingers crossed that this dress arrives. Saw it on a blog. Such a great reduction. Might be a bit ott (when has that stopped me?).....it will be that or a Whistles old fav body con. Love a dress as you all know.

DryWhiteagainW · 13/04/2019 09:09

Damn...link doesn’t work....hang on

DryWhiteagainW · 13/04/2019 09:10

Longislandicetee · 13/04/2019 15:17

Did it arrive on time Dry?

I had a lovely try on session earlier of the things that i ordered last week from Net-a-porter (McQueen dress, Chloe animal print top, Veronica beard shorts and madewell linen jumpsuit). A rare haul where everything is a winner and looks really good on me.Smile

Thank you for the Mitchum deodorant recommendations. That's done the trick! I did try soap but didn't make any difference. I opened the packet so i have been using it this week (as it was expensive) and goodness me, i am reminded each day on why I went off soap years ago! Just an effort to lather and I am convinced that it doesn't feel as good!

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday!

shopafrolic · 13/04/2019 15:25

Blingy PMSL at "an effort to lather" Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/04/2019 16:12

I use the dove beauty bars (which I know aren't strictly soap) and they feel really nice on skin.

Love that dress for you Dry! Hope it arrived.

Blingy how satisfying re the NaP haul Smile

Longislandicetee · 13/04/2019 16:36

Love me, love my inner princess ShopGrin

From my surprise tax refund, I have dutifully been sorting out the dc's pension contributions for the new tax year and my ISA. Now I am having an inner debate on whether i should use the last bit of it to "invest" in the YSL bag I have wanted for ages.Grin

MarshaBradyo · 14/04/2019 18:06

Yes Blingy! Then link it here

Back from break, it was really lovely and I’m so so grateful that we went when we did. It’s supposed to be warmer here than Southern Spain next weekend Shock

DryWhiteagainW · 14/04/2019 21:44

Dress didn’t arrive so I wore my trusty Whistles body con from a few years back...sadly it’s a teeny bit more body con than when I last wore it. Felt nice though.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/04/2019 08:02

ahhh, what on earth do you even wear on a cruise? going ona cruise round the greek islands later this summer and ive never been on one before so i have NO idea! i won't be too out of place in my usual stuff will? i don't know if we are doing any of the formal nights, that decisions been left to me but i'm not sure about it

how is DF doing Shop are you any closer to a solution for whats going on? I hope you are looking after yourself too Thanks

VivaVegas · 15/04/2019 10:20

One that sounds lovely, I love Greece but a cruise round the islands sounds amazing! No idea what to wear for the cruise itself as never been on one, if imagine normal siteseeing clothing for offshore and then maybe dressier in the evening?
I'm going off to have a look at Greek island cruises now!

MarshaBradyo · 15/04/2019 10:21

How fun One! Dry’s done a cruise. Really happy you’re getting a nice break

Longislandicetee · 15/04/2019 10:58

Morning! Working from home today so thought i would sneak in some mumsnetting tooGrin

Dh and i had the most fabulous night out last night. I got to wear my Chloe animal print top with my Theory leather leggings, my R&B wedge boots and Burberry wool coat. The YSL bag would have gone very well with the outfit!Grin

One, holiday sounds wonderful. Dh and i did a cruise about a decade ago, and as Viva (hope you're okay btw Viva, don't think I have seen you for a while) said, it was definitely casually dressed for normal sight seeing during the day and then in the evening I wore nice dresses (same as i do most holidays). We didn't sign up to do the formal dinner, as that's where you get to wear cocktail dresses and men in suit and tie, but i know Dry did a couple of years ago and looked fab. Lots for you to look forward to!
