Christmas and the sales are sadly over but winter is still here for a few months yet.

Come and show us your cosy knits and woolly hats whilst we dream of summer - everyone welcome, the more the merrier.

So re the MU is it casual or do I need to get dressed up?
I'm away that weekend staying with family which makes it easier to get into central London but will need to plan ahead with what I'm taking!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/02/2019 10:06

Oh no Viva that's annoying. My sister just did a big Ines order (it's all so her) and some things she wanted were already sold out too.

Re the MU, anything goes! We once did do an evening one where everyone dressed up a bit more (Marsha wore her amazing Lanvin) but usually it is quite casual. I'm so looking forward to it! Marsha when you're back are you going to PM re venue?

QueenC it's so hard re summer clothes, you don't wear things much so don't want to spend a lot but then they don't last either. Glad you had a good time. The weather here is about to get really nice isn't it?!

One I had been wondering where you'd got to, it's good to hear from you :) it must be really tough to take that step re wheelchair, but if it means you can get out and about more it'll be worth it. And defo get some amazing shoes to show off!

QueenCerise · 21/02/2019 11:11

blair usual place I think.
vegas anything goes. I’m always in jeans but smart casual. I made the mistake of wearing heeled boots once and got the most horrendous blisters. I’ll be in jeans and blouse and either trainers, boots or ballet flats depending on weather. Really looking forward to meeting you. Let me know if you want to swap numbers/meet beforehand.

I’ve got my eye on a couple of summer tops but will wait till next weekend and see what’s around. I’m going abroad again for a girls weekend in April and it won’t be warm enough to wear my high summer tops so I ‘need’ a couple of new short sleeved ones. I’ve got my eye on a handbag which I totally don’t need but it would look so pretty abroad....

QueenCerise · 21/02/2019 11:12

I shouldn’t actually be buying anything as living off my savings at the moment for fripperies. Don’t want to put clothes on the joint account as dh will ask too many questions Grin. There’s been problems with my paperwork at work so goidness knows when I’ll get paid

Longislandicetee · 21/02/2019 22:23

Blimey, poor you QueenC!

Viva - some of my MU wears have included khaki shorts and a tee shirt, jeans and a jumper, summer dresses...so yeah pretty casual!

One, oh that's really big news, but if it helps you get around and do more then that's a great thing. Must be bittersweet.

We are still on our skiing holiday. Absolutely gorgeous weather here all week, clear blue skies with plenty of sunshine. Having spent a kings ransom on private one to one lessons for the second year in a row, my skiing has only marginally improved from last year!Grin The ski resort is fab, very blingy and great for the people watching - the kind of place where you see people driving the soft top rolls Royce with the skis sticking out of the car! Somehow, dd's 2 pairs of jeans didn't make it into the suitcaseHmm so we ended up having to buy her a pair of skinny jeans (the only type she will wear). 75 Euros later...dd was the proud owner of a pair of kiddies designer jeans.Shock

Each evening, i have worn a different sparkly cashmere top with skinny jeans and snow boots to dinner. I bought this this White Company cashmere sparkly jumper for this holiday and it's awesome. I also got these white company cashmere bed socks which I have pottered around in late at night - like now.

libertyonhertravels · 22/02/2019 08:15

Those cashmere bed socks are the best blingy. They were my 'go to' gift when I lived over there - always well received.

QueenC hope your pay gets sorted soon.

I'm in a quandary with my new sweater. Really like it but it's a tad too short I think. Seems to sit on the widest bit of my tummy. But it's so soft, and I love the colour so not sure... Must post a picture.

Having a rare night alone. DH has taken DD to the rugby so I'm curled up in the comfiest armchair with red wine, chocolate, a book and music on...bliss.

QueenCerise · 22/02/2019 09:49

lib sounds lush. I think the shortness of the top will annoy you.
blingy sounds like you fit right in there!
I’m taking dd2 shopping today as yet again all her tops are starting to look cropped. That girl does not stop growing!

MarshaBradyo · 22/02/2019 21:17

Hi yes will defo pm venue (it’s the usual but yes will send as some won’t know) I also just got the menu, bit of a nightmare as an attachment not sure if I can pm that but will work it out on Mac at home, back Mon night

Packing for last bit of journey, city stay in a nice hotel , holiday has been great but I brought way too many clothes Shock

FedupNagging · 23/02/2019 07:24

Sounds like a perfect Friday evening Lib. Re your jumper, can you layer it with a longer shirt/vest underneath?

Viva I went to order that bag too! Very frustrating; there were about 3 different colours I think and all oos.

FedupNagging · 23/02/2019 07:46

Menocore is a thing now apparently Hmm

In a non chain fashion retailer this week I asked if there were any 12's (skinny trousers) in stock to be told 'all the large sizes have sold out' . I was a bit Shock and asked since when a size 12 is considered to be a 'large size'?! Poor girl looked mortified so I think a poor choice of words but that got me thinking about size, the words we use, what is large/small etc etc - not sure what exactly I'm trying to say but hopefully you get my drift!

A silver pair of Havianas are on order and I made another impulse purchase in Next - will post a pic

OP posts:
FedupNagging · 23/02/2019 07:55

Snakeprint ankle boots. We have a fairly new retail park locally and it's making me a very lazy shopper-Pop into Boots or M&S food hall & am easily distracted!

OP posts:
DryWhiteagainW · 23/02/2019 09:54

I need new Havianas too Fedup
Lib show us the jumper. It’s a tough one, but keeping something that isn’t perfect might be a mistake unless you can wear it as Fedup says.
Blingy your holiday sounds fun...

Longislandicetee · 23/02/2019 17:30

Holiday was so fab! Quality time with the dcs, some me time, quality time alone with th while the dcs were at ski school, a lovely meal every night and people watching every day. So fab!!

Totally knackered though after epic trek home. When you A door to door 10 hour journey with a ds with adhd, you have to concentrate pretty hard to avoid a meltdown.

Lib is it too late to send it back? I think FedUp's suggestion is a good one.

Tonight is washing (1st load just gone in), tv, and fashion surfing. I told dh that I have been so sensible with money for so long now its a new bad habitGrin

libertyonhertravels · 23/02/2019 20:18

Jumper has gone back. It was too $$ to keep at less than perfect. I'm looking for something with the perfect level of fitted/slouch if that makes any sense Grin. I also want something with a nod to being a bit cool rather than classic - that one had a stripe on the chest and the logo "sunny" which ticked that box for me. Do any of you remember me lusting after a Bella Freud jumper a couple of seasons ago with the logo 'liberty'. I'm still kicking myself for not just going for it. The cost put me off but I haven't found anything vaguely close since.

libertyonhertravels · 23/02/2019 20:25

Blingy well done on getting home with DS in one piece! I'm glad you had such a good holiday.

Fedup there is something a bit confronting about the 'menocore' tag! But I do feel I'm leaning towards that aesthetic. Just want comfortable, stylish clothes that are easy while looking like I still care iyswim.

I saw an amazing looking woman in a local cafe here recently - she must have been late 60's, looked like she had spent lots of time in the sun, very slim and lithe, wearing black linen wide leg dungarees, cuffed at the ankle, Adidas trainers, plain white T shirt, long grey hair in a messy bun. She was hands down the coolest woman I have seen in a while!

QueenCerise · 24/02/2019 13:49

I’m glad you sent it back lib. Shame that you’re still lusting after the bella fried. It was probably shit quality though.

Went shopping yesterday with dd and managed to look at a few things. I wanted to try the whistles barrel jeans but when I saw them in store I knew they would never look right. Tried on some gap girlfriends as mine feel a bit tight but they seem to have changed the cut of them and they looked awful. Basically anything none skinny looks terrible on me and I’m not sure whether my eye needs adjusting or whether it’s because I just see my teenage self. If you ever need a blast from the past try on some mom jeans. Bloody awful things Grin.

Nothing much else caught my eye. I’m becoming more and more fussy about what I will part money with. They didn’t have the handbag I’m lusting after so will look in London on Saturday.

But it’s gorgeous weather and feels like spring is here Smile

Stokey · 24/02/2019 15:34

Hello,

Don't get why the Menocore women are all showing their bras Fedup, not something your average 40-50 year old is into IMO. Maybe it's where I'm going wrong!
Your holiday sounds fab Blingy, I've never been skiing but sure the kids would love it.
Pity about the Ghost skirt Everyone, really annoying about the quality.
Think I should be able to make it on Saturday but may not be ablel to stay too long.

We're still trying to decide on builders, down to a final two. One is super efficient and will do it in 4 months, the other is likely to overrun - more like 6-7 - but will do a very cheap bespoke kitchen.

So hard to choose! And they both want to start in March so not sure that we're remotely ready. We need to clear utility room and garage which is terrifying, there are boxes of books which have been there since we moved in 6 years ago.

kittyhello · 24/02/2019 22:36

Stokey good news about Saturday glad you can make it. Hope you come to a decision soon about your choice of builder.

Lib good idea to send the jumper back, I bought a cropped sweatshirt, was only cheap in M&S but I sized up in order for it to be longer on the waist. It's to wear to and from the gym so it didn't matter too much. I hate 'the one that got away' item(s). I have a few things on my Pinterest board that I wish I had bought at the time.

Blingy your holiday sounded blingtastic, good on ds for coping with that journey, what a star.

Fedup great boots

Queen I'm really fussy about what I buy these days and will take ages deliberating over an item, even if it's not expensive.

Viva I've turned up to a MU in jeans and Primark blouse. This time I'm planning on wearing a leopard print skirt if the weather is good and if I can do the zip up if not I'll wear a Whistles Lola dress.

QueenCerise · 25/02/2019 06:23

oscars.
Haven’t got time to look properly but first glance I’m not that impressed except by lady gags. Also glad that the men seem to be mixing it up a bit rather than just the usual tuxedo

justasecond · 25/02/2019 13:01

I remember that jumper lib it was the nicest bella freud one I have seen, not ubiquitous at all like aot ot hers, sorry that's probably not helped you get over it! I regret not buying the Equipment black blouse with small flowers that I showed to mara at the last mu. I couldn't justify it at the time as I'd just spent a fortune on wedding outfits. I have found it on Ebay for ££ plus international postage so have put myself off for now!
Must catch up properly but cheap bespoke kitchen sounds tempting stokey
Looking forward to the mu, not sure what to wear probably my usual jeans and a silk shirt. The loewe will be making its mu debut though Smile

MarshaBradyo · 25/02/2019 13:02

Hello,

Jumping back in after a long absence, finding it hard to keep up atm, must do better as I do miss the thread chat when i’m not on it.

Really looking forward to Sat, thanks for deets Marsha, can’t wait to hear about your hol. Will dd be joining us? I hope so!

Am excited to see you all, meet Vegas and see justa’s Loewe.

Back from skiing too, was ace, so lovely to breathe that clean mountain air.

Lib you may be able to track it down, there are sometimes BF sample sales in London too, will keep an eye out.

Question: does anyone have Veja trainers and if so what kind and what do you think of them?

VivaVegas · 26/02/2019 11:19

Looking forward to Saturday if a little nervous! Queen may take you up in your kind offer to meet before, I'll check train times and PM you. Shame the lovely weather isn't set to last for the weekend.
