Christmas and the sales are sadly over but winter is still here for a few months yet.

Come and show us your cosy knits and woolly hats whilst we dream of summer - everyone welcome, the more the merrier.

maxi skirt . Right......skip the waffle if you want......

After reading 326 blog posts on Does my Bum look 40 showing yet another maxi dress/skirt worn with trainers (places can we see your legs again Kat?) I’ve finally been brainwashed and succumbed (although I draw the line at what look like DMs to me...hideous!).
I’ve loved the trainer and maxi skirt combo forever but it’s a tricky look to pull off when your not tall. I hate bulky skirts and feel frumpy in maxis BUT this one is really great. Falls straighter, nice fluid fabric that doesn’t stick out, versatile print that goes with loads of coloured tops....all in all I think I’ll wear this a lot this summer. Had to size up because Pull and Bear is obviously designed for 12 yr olds (that or I went a bit nuts with the Indian I just had for our romantic valentines dinner Hmm )

justasecond · 14/02/2019 23:02

I thought I had posted a few days ago, not sure where my post went!
Dream I'm so impressed with your knitting skills! So cute.
stokey I'm with you on the feeling meh about clothes. I have been wearing the same stuff on repeat and am so bored but can't really be bothered either.
J crew returns seemed impossible so I have convinced poor dh that the pink shirt I made him order that turned out luminous will look fine on holiday Grin I think it was the first time he bought anything online!
marsha and minimarsha glad you have arrived safely, have an ace time!
Lib Flowers remember it's not long until you are back to visit your family (and all of us!)
I am having my hair done tomorrow it's way overdue, I feel depressed looking at myself!

justasecond · 14/02/2019 23:05

Ooh I really like that skirt dry a good find

libertyonhertravels · 15/02/2019 09:06

Enjoy your hair appointment justa. My grey roots are showing but struggling to find time to get it sorted.

I need a wee treat so have ordered this sweater

Dry you'll look lovely in that skirt.

QueenCerise · 15/02/2019 09:32

golden stick around! Hope you find the udder cream good as I really like it.
dry nice skirt. Like you I’d like a maxi but preferably a dress rather than skirt. Although I’m about 5’5 I have short legs and can easily looked swamped. I need something in navy preferably (obviously!) with maybe a pattern but not too big a pattern that it swamps me.

What jeans are everyone planning on for spring/summer? I tried some Levi cropped 501s and wedgie jeans (can’t get on their website at mo to link) but they just didn’t look quite right. I think if I’m wearing flats I look much better in a skinny rather than a straight or wider cut.

I’ve got a 1001 things to do today but I’m knackered so going to spend some time in bed browsing as a treat to myself...

QueenCerise · 15/02/2019 09:40

Can totally see you in this dry

QueenCerise · 15/02/2019 10:06

the most unpractical sleeves ever

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/02/2019 12:01

Those sleeves queenc Shock.

I couldn’t see the jumper you linked lib, the link didn’t seem to work. Maybe just me??

Hope you enjoyed your hair appointment justa. I had mine cut the other week. It might be a tad too short. I seem to have a happy point with my hair for about 2 weeks - either side of that it feels too short / long.

Nice maxi dry. I always like maxi skirts on other people but I just never feel comfortable in them myself.

I ordered the ghost skirt Grin. The last one in a medium so looks like it was popular.

Any plans for half term? I’m working for half of it but might do a couple of days out at the end, weather dependant. It’s a lovely sunny day at the moment. Fingers crossed spring is round the corner.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/02/2019 12:14

I could see the link Lib - very nice for casual days. Glad you had a good time with your family, I hope you can find a way to distract yourself from missing them now they've left.

Like you QueenC I'm above average height with short legs, I don't think I'll be trying long skirts, even midi only look right on me if they're high waisted and come to below the knee rather than mid calf.

Have fun Marsha, glad the flight was OK :)

I am so looking forward to the MU! Will be so nice to see everyone. I am also getting an overdue haircut, I last had it done just before DS arrived. He's 6 months today!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/02/2019 12:17

Oh and forgot to say - latest purchase is this skirt which annoyingly now has 20% off. Will be trying it on tonight. Hopefully that's my version of jeans for the spring :)

FedupNagging · 15/02/2019 16:29

Sounds like you are both working very hard at the moment Queen & Dry - am sure it will all be worth it. How is your Nanny working out Queen?

Justa did you manage to deal with your cleaner? Am now picturing you with lovely swishy hair after your appointment today.

Lib I can't open the link either but had a quick look around the site - some lovely pieces. Not long til your summer trip so hang onto that thought.

Nice skirts Dry & Everyone; be interesting to see how you cope with a slightly less structured look Dry. Am enjoying wearing the pleated skirt/flatform combo but there are only 2 jumpers and 1 pair of shoes that all go together so it's not the most hardworking item in my wardrobe.

I have made a few purchases too boring to link - stans and maison scotch jeans both of which are replacements.

Also a pair of linen grey/orange flowery palazzo pants which are so wide they look like a maxi skirt; these are not remotely boring but sadly can't find a picture. The look I'm aiming for is this but with the midriff well and truly covered up Grin

libertyonhertravels · 15/02/2019 18:13

Yes my link has vanished and I've had a 'if your item is in stock we'll send it shortly' email so I'm not holding out much hope that I am going to get it.

It's from swildens which I haven't heard of before. Some lovely stuff on there.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/02/2019 18:42

hello all! sorry i haven't been around, life is getting in the way as usual. The time has come and i am now getting a wheelchair, hoping it gives me the independence back that i've been lacking recently because i just haven't been able to go very far at all and many day, not out anywhere at all. Kinda sad about it but also relieved in a way so it's a bit of a mixed up feeling. I suppose it does mean though,t hat i can buy shoes that i won't ever have to walk in so can be as daft or outrageous as i like because they won't ever be hitting the ground Grin

libertyonhertravels · 16/02/2019 08:15

Oh one I am sorry to hear that but as you say hopefully it will make your life a bit easier.

justasecond · 16/02/2019 10:19

Sorry to hear that too one but hope it will allow you to get out more. Being stuck inside is not good for your wellbeing.

Fedup of course I have not dealt with the cleaner issue Grin and lol, btw at the suggestion that dh say something, if only you all knew him! He would rather emigrate than have to say something! I love those wide trousers looks, I'm sure you will look lovely.

Lovely denim skirt blair looks very versatile

I couldn't see the jumper either but I like that website you linked.

I went a bit shorter on my hair too this time Everyone I'm a bit nervous how it will look when it's gone back to curly once washed. I've also booked to have olaplex in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping it will sort out the frizz.

FedupNagging · 16/02/2019 12:41

One you are sounding positive about your move to a wheelchair which is a bonus for your mental health, plus being able to get out and about a bit more. I can see you in killer heels & pointy toes giving a swift poke in the shin to anyone of the 'does she take sugar?' mentality Grin

Fairly busy day today doing mundane things but a friend is coming to stay and we're out tonight-I may bare an ankle since spring is in the air

OP posts:
kittyhello · 16/02/2019 15:01

One whilst not ideal, it sounds like it will give you more freedom to get out and about which can only be a plus.

Dream that knitted outfit is gorgeous

I'm in the same winter comfort zone of skinnies, merino jumper and boots, I feel in such a rut and need to break out of it but I haven't felt inspired by anything. Although I've got my eye on 3 pairs of sandals for the summer.

Marsha sounds like you're having a great time down under.

DryWhiteagainW · 17/02/2019 12:46

QueenC I do love that Hobbs jacket.
Fedup I’m not coping with “less structured” at all well Grin

Everyonelovessparkles · 18/02/2019 13:15

The ghost skirt is going back. It’s such poor quality! The waist band is literally just a piece of elastic with the material turned over and sewn round. Does no one know how to make a decent waist band any more?! I got a medium and it’s just a bit too big. The fabric is quite nice and it’s a nice shade of blue, but I just don’t think it’s worth the money.
The nice weather over the last couple of days has made me think about warmer times. I ordered a couple of summery tops from the Boden clearance - holiday day top and sleeveless top which I thought would look good with shorts. So hopefully keepers.

As any one bought anything from Sezane? It looks like it would appeal to you dry as i thought quite a few things were your ‘style’. I like this white top, this dress and this black dress which reminds me of a Chloé dress from a couple of summers ago.

Raining here today but hopefully just a one off!

Hope everyone is doing ok and that those who are away are having a great time.

justasecond · 18/02/2019 15:05

Shame about that skirt everyone this one from kitri studio is really lovely and similar colours kitristudio.com/collections/all/products/tina-animal-print-pleated-midi-skirt hope the link works I'm on my phone

kittyhello · 18/02/2019 15:15

Every I bought a lovely patterned blouse but the fit is not great for me. It's perhaps made for a French woman with a narrow back and a large chest. I don't have a particularly broad back but it's a really tight fit across the back and quite baggy at the front. The sleeves are very tight too. I should have sent it back but I really like the pattern. Funnily enough I've only worn it once Hmm

DryWhiteagainW · 18/02/2019 22:38

Everyone I do love Sezane styling, very me, but haven’t bought from them yet so will be interested to hear about others’ experience

kittyhello · 19/02/2019 09:02

Dry my blouse from Sézane is really good quality it's just the fit that's not great for me on this particular item. A larger size would only have made it baggier at the front.

It hasn't put me off from ordering from them again. They have some gorgeous clothes and it's good to try a different brand from my usual.

Although I do have to say JCrew clothing fits me the best. I rarely send clothing back from there due to sizing.

QueenCerise · 21/02/2019 08:21

I love sezane stuff but read somewhere that the blouses tend to be short and boxy. I wasn’t thinking of visiting the store whilst in London rather than my usual regent st.
one sorry to hear about the wheelchair but you sound positive. I’m assuming you have one that you can use independently?

Back from a few sunny days abroad. So nice to feel the Sun! I wore the new bright pink blouse although wasn’t keen on my navy cardi with it (cardi needed when in the shade) but some of last years summer tops are now looking tired. I think because I buy cheaper stuff in the summer they don’t tend to last.

VivaVegas · 21/02/2019 09:18

Grr just tried to get this https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-ines-jute-striped-basket-bag-415888.html in blue but annoyingly it sold out while it was in my basket.
