Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

I guess he sees it as completely different as the elephants are killed for their ivory. As bad as shooting is, I think hunting is far worse as it's done for the sole purpose of tearing apart a fox. I'm not sure if the royals still indulge but other aristocrats like the Manners sisters do.

Nope not the US. But I’m talking about ‘organised’ hunts, not farmers. And I’m talking specifically about fox hunting and pheasant shooting. They most certainly take pride in their kills but they most certainly are not all eaten.

SenecaFalls · 31/12/2018 16:05

Yes, I am in the southern US. I know lots of people who shoot; it's always birds (quail) or deer, and it all gets eaten, though not by me. I don't like the taste of quail or venison. I do eat fish caught by DH.

I thought fox hunting with an actual fox had been outlawed in the UK. That really is an abominable "sport" any way you look at it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/12/2018 16:10

It's an entirely different thing to hideous millionaires hunting lions or rhinos in Africa

Admittedly the picture was taken a long time ago, but I'd like to see them try and get away with that now Hmm

On the foxhunting, wasn't it Charles who said he'd go to live abroad and spend the rest of his life skiing if it was banned? Some of us wish he had

ajandjjmum · 31/12/2018 16:10

I'm fairly sure that Sophie went into labour while she was on her own, and Edward was away on royal business somewhere. It must have been really traumatic for her.

Paradyning · 31/12/2018 16:33

On her own... with a million servants.
Placenta abrupta is scary.

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/12/2018 16:34

Yes, I think he was somewhere like Mauritius and had to rush home.

Clionba · 31/12/2018 16:41

There can't have been many servants, because it took a while for anyone to clock it was an emergency, and Sophie nearly died, as did Louise. Sophie was additionally distressed when she came round, because she was separated from her tiny baby. HM came to visit her and was said to be shocked. It changed Edward, too. I've heard the ivf claims but don't know if they're verified. It was certainly a challenging route to parenthood.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 31/12/2018 16:44

I don’t think this is one of Harry’s finest moments, apparently this is a trophy kill.

Are we going to get back to style?

Please.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 31/12/2018 16:57

There is very little style to post about at the moment however the royal hunting season is in full swing hence the discussion and it is very much a royal lifestyle choice, I love talking about the fashion though so if anyone has any new pictures would love to see them.

Paradyning · 31/12/2018 17:01

Is it tonight that the Danes will be out in tiara glory??

Paradyning · 31/12/2018 17:03

I remember hearing that the lots of servants thing actually made the situation worse because they all assumed someone else had phoned for an ambulance, and there was a delay before they realised no one had.

Clionba · 31/12/2018 18:16

Thanks for the pictures of Anne I promuse. Not keen on that knitted waistcoat, but some of the other outfits are lovely. I like both Anne's and HM's outfits in Turkey, HM isn't often in navy.

That's a horrifying photo of Harry. I am really surprised by it, given his love of Africa. Also PP used to be a patron of the World Wildlife charity. I loathe blood sports, but shooting game in Africa (I assume) is just horrific.

beanaseireann · 31/12/2018 18:31

I'm afraid the words Princess Anne and Style don't go together judging by the Harper's Bazaar link.
She does look great in jodhpurs though and if she had dressed nicer could have looked very stylish. I know styles were different then but still....

BigGreenOlives · 31/12/2018 18:52

user154 Eton starts at 13. Prospective students do an exam in year 6 but they don't start until year 9. Harry went to Wetherby for pre-prep, Ludgrove for prep and then Eton at 13.

Back to fashion - Princess Diana and Prince Harry

Hope this image works

BigGreenOlives · 31/12/2018 18:55

Sorry it didn't, here is another attempt Princess Diana takes Prince William and Prince Harry to school It is from a series of photographs of Prince Harry's life.

IdaBWells · 31/12/2018 19:00

Louise and James both attended St. George's in Windsor, a day school that is literally next to the castle. They live by Windsor so can remain close to their parents and visit their grandparents frequently. Louise moved onto St.Mary's in 2017. James is still at St.George's and the obvious choice next would be Eton.

IdaBWells · 31/12/2018 19:02
  • sorry typo, meant to say she moved onto St. Mary's in 2017.
QueenOfTheAndals · 31/12/2018 19:04

Ludgrove is a boarding school isn't it? I can't see Kate or Meghan boarding their children at such a young age. Diana would've been used to it as she was brought up in a circle where it was very common to send small children to boarding school.

On Eugenie's instagram - she is really striking looks wise and her colouring is beautiful. It's lovely to see her wedding dress close up - the fabric and style is beautiful.
