Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

“I find it distasteful that Kate shoots birds and ducks. What pleasure can she get from killing living things.”

Me too-but that’s the Riyal Family for you.

TSSDNCOP · 31/12/2018 13:42

What pleasure can she get from killing living things.

Assuming that she actually does, eating them?

katekat383 · 31/12/2018 13:44

Shooting animals or birds is a vile thing to do. To call it “sport” is actually worse. Shame on them.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 31/12/2018 13:46

But it's not just Kate is it?

katekat383 · 31/12/2018 13:47

Prince Frederick is waaaaay more attractive now than he was when he was young.

LaurenDisorderAtChristmas · 31/12/2018 13:51

Lady Louise has amazing cheekbones.

I'm sure I read somewhere that at the RF family shoots, every bird/duck gets eaten by the RF or given to staff & locals to eat.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 31/12/2018 13:53

All meat we eat has been killed. I don’t really see the difference. I don’t shoot.

Paradyning · 31/12/2018 13:55

Those pics of Kate without the ridicule headgear on carries the dead birds (classy) are of her clay shooting.

Paradyning · 31/12/2018 13:56

Ffs.

drowningincustard · 31/12/2018 13:56

I've seen it alluded to before but can anyone enlighten me about Louise's birth and that Sophie was then very weak - what happened?

SenecaFalls · 31/12/2018 13:59

DH and I don't shoot but we have family who do. Everything that is killed is eaten. Nothing is killed merely for sport. I agree that unless you are a vegetarian, you are eating dead animals with some frequency. Someone has killed them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/12/2018 14:01

There's something about it in here, custard, though the first bit of the article is more about the later birth of their son: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1572841/Countess-of-Wessex-gives-birth-to-baby-boy.html

user1457017537 · 31/12/2018 14:03

Well whatever side of the fence you are on re bloodsports, I don’t see it as sport or a leisure activity and don’t see why Kate has embraced this part of Royal life. I didn’t know that Diana had shot a stag either. I can’t have any respect for people who participate in blood sports.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 31/12/2018 14:10

Plenty of people do see it as a leisure activity. It’s very common in Cyprus & Greece (I’m Cypriot). It’s pretty unusual I think for people not to shoot. Unless you are a vegetarian I don’t think you can judge. I certainly don’t as I do eat meat.

Anyone know when the next social outing for the royals is. Looking forward to more outfits!!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 31/12/2018 14:16

I suspect the Royal family would go hunting and shooting even if what they killed was not used for food, it’s a convenient excuse for getting pleasure out of killing an animal.

drowningincustard · 31/12/2018 14:19

Thanks puzzled...
She's been through loads I never knew - first an ectopic, then the emergency with Louise, being separated for a week while both were ill. Impressed she wanted to have another baby...

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/12/2018 14:26

Did Edward and Sophie do IVF to have their kids? I remember reading something saying so but not sure if it was speculation or not. I think both Sophie and Louise nearly died in childbirth but with James it seems it was a straightforward ELCS.

“Everything that is killed is eaten. Nothing is killed merely for sport. ”

Yes, of course it is. Hmm

BlingLoving · 31/12/2018 14:47

I don't hunt etc myself but in my experience of people who do, with this kind of hunting there's almost a sense of pride in ensuring you DO eat everything. It's an entirely different thing to hideous millionaires hunting lions or rhinos in Africa. I have a friend whose mother used to get a bit irritated as her father would go hunting every year with his buddies and they'd have insane amounts of venison that had to be used up afterwards because obviously there was no way the meat wouldn't be eaten!

Bloominglovely · 31/12/2018 15:13

Everything that is killed is eaten

As somebody from an area of the countryside where hunting is very popular, I can confidently tell you this is untrue.

desertgirl · 31/12/2018 15:22

Or, possibly, it depends on the specific group of hunters?

I do know that if I have to come back as a bird, I’d rather be a grouse or a pheasant raised for hunting than a chicken in a “farm”.

But the photos of Kate are from years ago and it’s not really S&B is it?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 31/12/2018 15:26

In that article about Louise's delivery, it said Sophie lost 9 pints of blood. (Bearing in mind there are only 9 pints in the human body, they obvious had to keep pumping it into her.)
I remember at the time she had placental abruption.
It's no understatement to say she nearly died, and she couldn't be reunited with the baby for 6 days.

QueenOfTheAndals · 31/12/2018 15:29

@Bloominglovely I think @SenecaFalls is in the US Deep South so it's probably completely different to how it is in the U.K. Unless you're in the US too, and even then I guess it varies from state to state.

I live in the French countryside and the local hunters are farmers.
Each hunt has a quota they are allowed to kill, licensed by the Mairie.
They then have a massive meal (and piss up) where the village eats everything killed. (I am not a fan of wild boar & deer).
Carole & Michael middleton were seen shooting with the Royals, not long before W&Ks engagement was announced.

Not sure how William squares his Tusk elephant conservation charity with shooting.

SenecaFalls · 31/12/2018 15:32

Or, possibly, it depends on the specific group of hunters?

I was speaking about people in my family who shoot. It's a very strong social norm that everything that is killed is eaten.

My husband doesn't shoot, but he does fish. Any fish that can't be eaten are returned to the water.
